agreed! i absolutely adore the violet flame with all the purple! it i just so punchy between that rich purple and the sharp orangey gold, but not overwhelming because the deep purple is the main color. oh i wish they’d all come out in that color! squeeeeeeeeee!
i think the new color poll would come out a bit different if the two varieties of violet flame were listed.. the fledge type and the secretkeeper type….oh i definitely agree that pics never do em justice! (thats what i figured the case was). hmmmmm let me think of a good example… ahh how about…. white dragons! wow! big surprise! lol! they almost always look blown out in pics, but look awesome in person, or a casual home shot as opposed to a studio shot.
i love dark eye rings on the dragons actually; i managed to get lucky and got all my rubies with dark eye rings, squee! i love how it makes their eyes pop.
as for having a frumpy camera, i totally hear ya there, the one i had was AWFUL until my dad got me a new one for my b-day. he got me a “canon powershot a560” a small, and very easy to use camera that takes really nice pics and movies! only 150 bucks at bestbuy! they go on sale too- i think he got mine for 110. it took pics almost as nice as his multi-thousand dollar professional camera (he’s a photographer). check it out sometime if you are feeling spendy! 🙂 i am totally uncamera savvy and i found it really easy and common sense-y to use!in regards to the white OWs, i bought #5, which then made four. my bank account is quite distressed at this point, but i didn’t want to miss out on another limited ow. i wanted a brown but missed them, so i wasn’t going to miss out again. i may sell my rainbow mom to help balance things out moneywise….
folks with the brown scratchers… any chance you might post pics of yours in your collection? look what the pics and comments did for the OWs, i bet if people here saw how nice yours look, it would inspire them to buy! i’m sure the folks at the factory would love to see them move! honestly i love the brown, but i thought the pic of the scratcher made him look a little funny; a little dark around the eyes and light on the rear leg (me being picky)… i’m sure he is soooooo much nicer looking in person! show em off folks! make the rest of us jealous!Kujacker wrote:I want the Rising Peacock Spectral… and thanks to TFsculptures, I know where one is… but my money issues right now prevent me from buying him… hopefully he’ll still be there by the time I get that extra spendable money… 🙁

well, even though shingles certainly doesn’t sound fun and rather long winded in the healing process, at least it isn’t doesn’t sound like something horribly expensive in order to recover (me foolishly assuming). i mean, god forbid you broke your nose or a limb or needed some other type of surgery, needing to spend thousands of dollars to get fixed up. that makes being unwell that much worse- when you need to spend so much to make yourself right again. money seems to be so tight for so many people lately, so maybe that is a silver lining… if some sort of health ailment HAD to happen to you now, at least it wasn’t a bank breaker. 😕 ( so long as you still feel well enough to make your fair dates, etc. to bring in some dough) hang in there woman!! 🙂
awwwww poor you! the bad luck has really been going around to everybody lately! i can’t think of too many people, if any, that have been missed by the bad luck cloud. well, a girl i went to school with in college got shingles and she was a wreck from it. she was out of school for almost a month and just stayed in her apartment feeling itchy, crusty n gross. i guess it really does take a bit of time to clear up, and more than anything she simply didn’t want to go out because she itchy n miserable and wanted to keep tender areas protected. i think she had it all up her back onto her neck, so i think she had a pretty bad case. she was also somewhat frail and less than perfectly healthy condition, so i wish you better luck than she had emerald! you certainly will have a whole pep squad of people here rooting you on to feel better quickly and sending happy healing mental waves!! take care of ourself and good luck feeling better!
well bloody heck, i missed ’em again too! poopus! gah! 😕 geez was that like, a new record or something- that seemed very quick! especially for such a particular color! i hope i don’t miss out on the pink fledgie (whenever it comes out) like i did this one! i just gotta have a pink fledge! woot! i got the wolf with 99% nobility. i did have a totem lady tell me my totem animal was the wolf too, but she also said strong confusing influences of hawk and crow, hmm. i’d love to meet with someone who really knew their stuff in regards to that to get the real scoop….

well, it finally happened, like it has for several others of you…. my piggy bank has run dry and there are no reserves left in any form…i applied for a small loan and was denied.. so its time to start selling stuff. i put up on ebay a gargoyle unicorn, complete with box n bag n tag, mint except for some felt shelf wear.

and i posted an emerald kinglet, no box or tag. he is an interesting case as he is kind of a jade hybrid sorta kinda i think: he has really orangey gold horns and nose instead of normal yellow greenish gold, and he has some strong orangey gold cheek accents. i don’t know what is up with him….he is a little different.. try comparing him to the other one up on ebay now… yeah, i know, i know, there is another kinglet up by someone else (i think my scream was heard all the way at the factory when i saw that one come up) but i have no choice.. i have no money and can’t wait a week to not go head to head with that one. anyhoo, mine also had a chip, which i repaired…. it came out great if i do say so myself, i was pretty pleased, you really wouldn’t know i fixed it unless i told you. check him out.

i’ll post more stuff in the next few days i think, a dragon pyo and a male coiled in peacock…i just need to get more money coming in here! i’m open for pyo commissions too, i have one to do then i’m free if anyone is interested,but i know everyone kinda strapped for money too, plus with all the limited stuff coming out all the time.. its just so tough to keep up with it all!

in regards to the “body texture” areas (the little bumpies) i have a base of pearl white, wait til it is totally bone dry, then put a wet wash of the color (the color with just a tiny drop of water to help it move), green or yellow in this case over all of it, scrubbing it into the crevices. almost immediately after i wipe my finger over the area, wiping the color off the raised area, leaving the color in the crevices. the key is doing only tiny areas at a time, so no area dries too much before you get to it. certain high points i may go over again in pearl, bump by bump, just as touch ups and to make em extra bright.
wing and body scale color gradation is done while the colors are still wet at the meeting points, so we have a smooth cross over. then once all is dry on the wings i may go back in at the very top, adding a dark wash into the crevices, and then at the bottom dry brush a touch of pearl onto the high points at the very bottom part of the wing.
hmm you got me thinking over here… on my previous dark pieces like the black n purple halloweeny looking one, i had a base of black, and that is where i dry brushed the purple over. i’ll have to try it the other way sometime and see how i like it. for some reason whenever i had a black involved i did it as a base and brushed color over…i had a reason why i preferred it that way, but i can’t remember now ( i’m in sick this weekend with a gum infection, so i’m a little delirious). hmmmmm, anyway, hope that helps! 🙂 lol.Kyrin wrote:They are all lovely, one quick question, why did you paint the leg scales on the left leg of the storm dragon blue, but not the right leg?

ahhhhhhhh it actually isn’t an oops, the blue you see is interference.. so its intensity changes due to the angle you view it at, as opposed to straight up metallic. also, i painted the interference over the cloud pattern underneath, instead of giving it a dark base everywhere, that gave it a little more variation in the tones. i did that so it looked a little more “natural” like varying amounts of blue sky peeking through the clouds. the paler areas like that still have a little thin veil of clouds still in front of them, lol. in person it does shine blue almost as intensely as the other side, it just didn’t get the light the right way. the main body scale points vary like that too; the ones over a dark area are very intense, while the ones over white are a little more subtle. i hope that helps! i agree , it does photograph a little funny. 🙂
let me see if i can find a pic that shows that area at a full on side, i think it caught the light better that way…maebnus, now you got me thinking about those chocolate mints! lol! he DOES look like one! oh my god! now i’m always going to see him that way! (“mmmmmm cheap chocolate mints, ahhhh “drools like homer with donut) lol! 😆

lol! oh my god! ow! i have a gum infection and all this laughing is killing me! lol! 😆 well, on the note of all of that, back home in upstate new york the local news channel out of albany had a main nightly newscaster for over 20 years with the name of….Dick Wood! oh my god! lol! every night you’d hear the inital news announcer as they zoomed onto the news desk : “and bringing you the news to night is (insert female name here) aannnnnnnnd as always, DICK WOOD!” lol! ol’ dick is still in circulation, though retired from newscasting, he’s now selling cars.
yay! thanks so much guys for liking the storm dragon! like i said he was very different to do for me, so i’m glad people enjoy him now that he is finally done! david was equally tickled over your responses too! that made him feel extra happy that he is stormys’ daddy!!
finally i have the two other dragons for dcc1961..she wanted a dragon similar to my stormy sea dragon from a while ago, but picking up more on the sage tones. this time i put the colors over pearl white instead of silver and of course alot more silvery sage color!
my favorite though is the sunlight dragon. dcc was also was taken by the sunshine, happy clouds and blue sky dragon for gryphondreamer, but she took this one in a slightly different direction of really focusing on pure golden light with just a little pale pearly blue for contrast. her eyes actually match the paint ( her eyes are the pale blue ones) but they photographed darker than life. man i love this combo, but i hate the color yellow…wierd. i think its just so cheery it always lifts my spirits when i look at something like that. without further ado, here they be:
