Depending on how old it is, it may have been red at one time…
My tadpoads came a day early today! Here are the two I got. I’m pretty pleased with them, especially with the blue/red/copper one on the right. The one one the left is an odd combination of colors, but they work. Her face and tuft are more greenish then they appear. The colors on both are also a bit washed out due to the flash.
These are really cool. I’ll probably be getting more if they’re still in the store when I have more money.
April 29, 2014 at 2:58 am in reply to: Report Windstone Fakes/Knock offs/Infringment Pls read first #912075Looks like a fake sculpt, see the green felt. And the paint likes similar but really heavy-handed? I don’t think it’s just really old, it’s…chunky looking.
It’s definitely a fake. These ones can be very similar to real old greens, but the bulging blue eyes and green felt are two of the dead give-aways. I wrote up a guide to these things twice. They are buried somewhere in this forum.
I just got my family today. They are gorgeous! I can’t wait to see this color on dragons.
Have you done these in color?I have seen a couple of the other prints but not this one and what colors were they? Thanks much. 🙂
I THINK we printed those in color. I remember seeing them in golden/tan colors, though I don’t remember if they were hand colored, or printed that way. We probably did both.
I need to find an old print catalog.I have the color version of this print. I think it is printed and not hand colored. I could be wrong though. I’m not sure how to tell. The mother is brown with rainbow mane and tail and the babies are white with rainbow manes and tails.
Happy Birthday!!!
Congrats Leigha! You got my favorite of the batch! You’ve got a wonderful boyfriend!
I got mine in today as well, and while they weren’t the ones that were originally on my radar, I’m pretty pleased with them. I’m particularly fond of the coloration on the blue, purple, and green one. His bright and dark areas accent the piece nicely. I would be willing to trade them for one of the blue or natural brownish ones, but I’d be pretty happy keeping them too. The detailing on them is just wonderful, and my pictures don’t really do them justice.

I am not sure if it is a fake or repainting on an existing Windstone. But I don’t think the greens ever had that much orange and red on them.
He’s real. However, someone did do a nasty partial repaint of his chest and claws for some odd reason. Old greens don’t have pinkish-red chests or claws.
Happy Birthday!!!
Sure, no problem. Glad I could help. In cases like this one, it is good to ask because there have been a few cases where eyes have been switched out by people who liked a different color better. This is actually not one of those cases as there is a record of one sold like this and the seller has the COA.
At one point in time, I had made a sort of guide to tell the old green fakes from real old green dragons, but it long since got buried. I can re-create it if anyone is interested.
Hello there!
I’m pretty sure this one is real. Here is the listing from the Ravnheart database from when she was originally sold on ebay:
http://ravnheart.com/windstone/index.php?act=details&id=924
Essentially, she’s a special variant of the Red Fire color. Red Fires typically have orange eyes, but this particular one was sold with blue eyes. It should be signed on the bottom by Melody and have a COA.
Also, it is being sold by a forum member that I’ve had several transactions with and can vouch for. I’m pretty sure this is the real deal.
Hopefully this helps
I agree! Thank you for everything!
So side question (not to ‘jack’ Dragon’s thread, but thought this question went hand in hand): for anyone else that has the original white dragons and that has also bought the ‘new’ ones like these spectrals, new baby dragon, or new hatching version 2 – how well do your new white dragons match your originals?
My baby dragon only matches the original hatching white dragon that I have. It looks like they used the gray antique with the original hatching dragons to bring out the cracks in the egg. Otherwise, the baby looks much duller than the other whites I have because of the gray antique. The gold nose is also different from the original whites as well. I’ve kind of held off buying any of the new white spectrals (which I’ve wanted for a while) because of this. I’m curious to know how they are painted.
