November 26, 2016 at 7:05 pm in reply to: 6th ANNUAL HOLIDAY ORNAMENT SWAP 2016 – SIGNUPS OPEN #1510684
Just an update: Thread is now moved to the SWAPS section of the forum. I also found out from a MOD that you can’t edit posts after about 5 minutes or so of the post being posted, so I will not be able to edit the initial post of this thread.
Can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with! 🙂
Good to see items shipping out and starting to arrive. 🙂 My work computer (that I’ve been using for everything) died last week, so had to pull out the personal laptop while I await a replacement or loaner from work to arrive (I work completely remote). The last item I was waiting on arrived for my swap, so I’ll get that packed up and sent out this week.
Btw, I found out from a MOD that after 5 minutes or so, you can no longer edit a post, so I will not be able to edit the first post. Just an FYI. I did manage to get the thread moved to the SWAPS section of the forum though.

We have four participants this year. We are small in number, but we will still have fun! 🙂Gift swap information has been sent! Let me know if anyone didn’t receive their swapee’s info or if you have questions.
We have 13 people! Whoo hoo! 😀Sign-Ups are CLOSED. I’ll update the first post as soon as I figure out how to edit in the new system.

Awesome! I never take tours when I travel unless it is something specific (like my college choir got together and traveled… that sort of thing).
I definitely want to do a trip to Japan in a future year before the Olympics, so I will probably PM you for some questions. I didn’t get to chance to accept an opening with JET, so I really want to do this (I can’t afford the pay cut for JET now and I have dogs I couldn’t leave for a year+). My top choices were Miyagi, Hokkaido, and Iwate prefectures. Good to know about the Ghibli tickets. I’ve heard that before, but not how far in advance.
Now I definitely want to make a trip to the fox park!

November 3, 2016 at 9:56 am in reply to: 6th ANNUAL HOLIDAY ORNAMENT SWAP 2016 – SIGNUPS OPEN #1509639This may be a very small group of people this year, but we will still have fun! Please if you sign up, COMMUNICATE if you are running behind or something comes up. The mail service last year was very wonky. It is recommended to ship with tracking this year, as we had one ornament go missing entirely and another take 2 weeks to arrive due to misrouting by the postal service. 🙁
How spooktacularly lovely! Congratulations to you both! 😀 Halloween is a great time for a wedding! 🙂
Yup, I messaged dragonmedley about it recently and she didn’t think she could handle organizing it this time around. I was going to consider doing it, but ran up against NYComicCon preparations, then I saw someone else picked up the baton. *whew* I am participating though. 🙂
Here is the gb uni I received a few weeks ago. So much detail! There are silhouettes of prancing unicorns under silver leafed trees! With the rich purple color that fades to white, I’m reminded of the quote from Peter S. Beagle’s ‘The Last Unicorn’, “The unicorn lived in a lilac wood, and she lived all alone. She was very old, though she did not know it, and she was no longer the careless color of sea foam but rather the color of snow falling on a moonlit night. But her eyes were still clear and unwearied, and she still moved like a shadow on the sea.” The stone looks to be a dark indigo swarovski and the eyes are a very dark gray metallic. Simply lovely! Not for trade or sale.
I managed to get back from taking an exam before they appeared, so I was able to snag one. The leafy ones (esp. the wintery one and rainbow one), a few of the ‘scene’ ones (particularly the wintery blue and either of the purple ones), a couple of the more normal colored zebras with a pattern overlay (like flowers), two of the stained glass looking ones (the blue one with green and purple pattern and the black one with yellow-green-purple pattern), and possibly one of the blue Glaucus atlanticus (sea slugs) ones interest me. I’ll see what little one prances this way!
