Here’s some quick photos off my phone!
January 23, 2015 at 11:41 am in reply to: Winner of the 2014 raffle…if anybody is out there on this NEW YEARS EVE #924520I GOT IT YESTERDAY.
Okay so. This was a surprise raffle with just “probably a unicorn“ mentioned so what I would get was a total surprise. I had a terrible day yesterday, lack of sleep among other school stress, and I had actually skipped class to go home and sleep then went to the library to stress and try to catch up. I was invited for dinner by my grandpa and had an extra cider so was some what tipsy when I got home and checked my mail, and I saw the slip. I decided well, it`s only 8pm, post office closes at 9, let`s go for a walk! I walked there and he handed me the MOST GIGANTIC BOX EVER
I was joking it was probably a baby unicorn in a huge box, but it was also heavy
So because I live alone I had no one to share my excitement (my cat was pretty excited I guess), so I was texting my gf and she suggested I do a video of me opening it. Which, I did. Fair warning, I have hardcore flat affect/ adrenal burnout so I am literally the least emotional person ever. And you can’t see in this video but I’m like grabbing my face and crying at the end. So for me, this is the equivalent of jumping up and down and screaming for hours.
And as I mentioned in the video, I am still LITERALLY DEAD. I still cannot comprehend what just happened. I cannot. Melody you are absolutely the most amazing, generous, thoughtful, awesomest person on the entire planet. <3 <3 THANK YOU SO MUCH. YOU HAVE MADE MY LIFE.

I will take actual photos of him later 😉
Whoo hoo! Glad you are back! I’ve been out in the weeds for the same reasons…school and fieldwork. Oy. I agree, the blue, “Pastel rainbow” unicorn is beautiful! Someone with some cash thought so too it looks like. 😉 Congrats on the sale! I hope you can find a job as soon as you finish school! That’s the dream 😉
Thanks so much (and thank you to everyone else, too!). I wish you the same, it’s tough! 🙂 I’m not sure I want to find a job right out of school, I’m hoping to do a tiny bit of travel and then work part time somewhere interesting. I’m so indecisive by nature so I feel like I’ll change job settings every few years for my entire life. 😛
Thanks guys!! 🙂
The fins are made from fantasy film and clear gel. I cut the film, and put the gel in layers with paint in between to make them textured and sparkly and then I varnish them.

I don’t check my email very often, and did today on a whim, and ALMOST DIED when I saw I had won!
I’m so excited!! Thanks so so so much Melody!
I will definitely post photos when it gets here!
EEEEEEeeeeEEe brb screaming forever
September 8, 2014 at 11:44 pm in reply to: Silver horned unicorns, need suggestions (unnoficial poll added) #918599I think the blue silver dapple would look nice if they had a white blaze and socks… make ’em pop and look different than the grullas too. 🙂
I don’t have a ton to add, like a few others I used to eat really poorly and have changed my diet in the last year and a bit. In doing so I’ve done a lot of research on nutrition and exercise so this topic is interesting!
I want to point out, since I live in Canada, that regulations here are very different than in the States. Once in a while I go grocery shopping in the States and I’m terrified of buying meat and dairy. Someone mentioned organic chicken being a scam because they don’t use hormones anyway… in Canada hormones are only given to beef cattle, so chicken, pork, and milk is all hormone free anyway. I think with milk, literally the only difference between organic and not is that the cattle that produce organic milk are fed more organic grain or something.
Also I have not researched this in much detail, but I often like to buy things in the states because of cost and I buy in bulk because I’m not there too often. I like that kashi cereal and bought a few boxes of the same type I get here and noticed the calorie content per serving size was different. On the american package it was 170 calories per cup and on the canadian package it was 210 calories per cup. I didn’t dissect the ingredient list but it was interesting! I’ve had people here tell me not to shop in the states because “it’s legal for the companies to lie on packaging there”, I’m sure it’s an issue here too but I find it interesting. It’s something I would need to research a lot more though!
I just moved into downtown toronto and they have this Food Terminal supply system that is really neat. (you can read about it here: http://www.oftb.com/ ) Vendors go to the terminal and haggle with wholesalers to get their produce for the day, so prices tend to be super super cheap. There’s a family run asian fruit market by my house and they have organic fruit and veg for 1/2 the price the grocery charges for non-organic (keeping in mind Canadian prices tend to be higher than American as is). Like you can get a massive, lush, gorgeous organic kale bunch for $2, organic raspberries for $1.50, etc. It’s amazing! I’ve saved so much money there that when I do buy meat I can splurge on the really expensive better stuff.
October 17, 2013 at 9:08 pm in reply to: Picture Thread: Windstone Ebay/Grab Bag 'Families'. #904353I have received several new appaloosas in the last few weeks from trading and buying so figured I’d take some photos of the “family”. I’d still like to get some palominos in here sometime! These guys are the stars of my collection though, I love them all <3
The gang all together:
Babies (one safari, 3 from the newer batches):
I didn’t originally intend for these to match so well, but they even have the same colour crystal! Xanadu and baby
“Grey” appy family
Incense and Xanadu and their baby brother:
Adagio and sort of matching baby:
Brown/ Bay/ chestnut family:
And a final shot of the whole gang… Varnish appaloosa #1, Pintaloosa #2, Cucumber, Xanadu, Incense, Adagio, and 4 babies (1 safari and 3 from the newer normal batch).przewalkski’s horse and fjords are both dun in colouring, they’re just different breeds. “Dun” is a gene that can mix and cross other colours, so you get red dun, bay dun, etc that have slightly different colouring (silver and slate grulla are also “dun”). Przewalkski’s also usually have a pangare dilute gene which causes the white fade on their belly, but they’re still technically dun.
Buckskin is a creme dilute on a bay horse… the same dilute on a chestnut horse makes palomino. Buckskins can have a dorsal stripe too but it’s usually lighter. They tend to lack the leg stripes and eye and ear markings, and the bicoloured hair.
I think? haha someone correct me if I’m wrong 😛
Susie said they’re replacing him with a different grab bag since this one was damaged. It’ll be at least a week for me to get him I think but if I don’t like it I’ll give you a shout if you don’t find a trade for yours in the meantime!
My colt arrived today. She’s already been introduced to her baby and young unicorn siblings. (They seem to be getting along very well. :)) I’m not really a horse person so I have no idea what this pattern would be called.
omg I love this one, the spots on his legs are adorable. I was hoping for an appy but after seeing how many people have got them I am doubtful! I did end up getting mine yesterday, it was an iridescent dapple bay with white socks and a blaze, unfortantely he tried to escape en route and lost his horn and some of his forehead along the way so is heading back to oregon. So it’ll be a while longer yet for me to get mine 😛 I like so many of these guys, I don’t think I’ll be disappointed!
in addition to the ones kiya mentioned, I think the dapple grey from the first batch was also held back. Drag0n posted photos of all of them in her factory visit thread I think, I remember seeing those somewhere! 🙂
Loooove all the bay appaloosas, especially yours, etruscan! Mine shipped today, excited!
I *think* there is some rule on ebay against feedback extortion, so I tend to avoid telling sellers that whether they do ___ will affect the feedback I leave. Maybe that’s what they’re referring to, although it doesn’t sound like you specifically said you would leave them a negative if they didn’t send some money back.
If you still want to keep the item, leave them a negative and leave it at that… if you don’t want the item with eye colour as is, open a case and go through ebay to return the item for a refund. Since the seller is being uncooperative, those are really your only options at this point. 🙁 Sucks!
I got mine today! This is one I didn’t even notice on the stream, and looks totally different in person. His name is Qucumatz, named after the deity “Q’uq’umatz” I imagine, who is a feathered serpent type thing. I think it’s fitting!
He is a bright emerald colour that was really hard to photograph. He’s got green eyes and jewells and turquoiseish and black highlighting.
I actually really like him despite not being what I was hoping for, but I will definitely be entertaining trades. I’m putting an ad up in the classifieds with what I’ll be looking for (pink and appaloosa, generally!).
