Dapple anything would look awesome! But it would take forever to do them, even with an airbrush. (and to be honest, I’ve never seen spectacular dapples done with an airbrush)
It’d also be cool to see a draft horse sculpture…

Mine is going out tomorrow. I’m nervous, I hope my partner likes it. I kind of wish I had done something crazier, but just didn’t have time! I can’t wait to see photos of these when they start coming in!
I got my last item in the mail today so my box is ready to go! I will be sending it tomorrow. I will expedite it so it gets there before christmas, sorry for being past the deadline. I hope my partner likes it! 🙂
I agree on Merlot! But I think we’ve already figured out who P.S. is. There’s a thread somewhere in the General Windstone forum that mentions a news article about Windstone Editions and Ms. P.S. is pictured in it. She goes by Pifia Sprysprocket on here, I believe, but I am embarrassed to admit that I have forgotten her real name (and don’t have time to look it up).

One thing that bothers me about the pm system is although we get email notifications, there isn’t a notification on the site if you leave yourself logged in. It’d be nice to have a little counter at the top that says “0 new messages” and changes if you get new ones. A lot of the time I see I have a pm in my email and then forget when I come onto the forum. I’ve never had a problem with pm’s not going through or not arriving. It’s always worked fine.
I think one for sale and one want to buy thread per person is a good rule
I think you should fix the editing problems too, especially for threads. I don’t necessarily like the idea of being able to edit individual posts after others have replied. But threads for sure. I think it’s much easier for each person to maintain and run ONE sales thread, updating with new pieces and adding/ removing pictures as needed.
I kind of hate the craigslist classifieds idea and the splitting into sub-categories idea. Both of those make it kind of hard to see everything for sale by each person.
If you made it a rule that each person could have ONLY one sales thread, then if they had issues editing, they could email whoever and work it out. Then make it a rule to only bump threads after 10 days or when a new item is available.
I “shipped” half of my care package today and will try to get the rest shipped before the weekend 🙂

Hahaha Mum’s are crazy like that, my Mum does that when I show her other people’s art. Then she starts comparing it to mine even if it’s like an incredibly realistic digital portrait, or an oil painting of mountains, something really out of my comfort zone, she’ll say “you could do that” when there’s no way on the planet I could ever do that haha
I think I might have told you the story about my dad and Tariana but I can’t remember.
He always rants about using mohair on my sculptures, he says it looks stupid, makes them into dolls not sculptures, cheapens them, and “if they were all clay guys would buy them too”. He was over at my place on time looking at my shelves and was ranting about the fur. And, having just got Tariana in the mail, I’m like “well what about this one, it’s all textile”, and handed it to him. He said something like “yeah, this is what I mean, the fur on this one-” and then stopped, looked at it for a few seconds more, and said “wait, no, this is really cool. This is awesome. Why don’t you make things like this? The fur on this one works well.”
But then he added that the green feathers look weird. Which I replied that I asked for them. And he said “yeah you would. *head shake*”
My mom does what yours does, too. I can’t show her anything, it’s always “yours are better, just make your own”. I can never get an honest opinion from her. That’s where my brother is super helpful. He’s one of those people who gives his honest opinion to everyone about everything, whether they ask or not. “What’s going on with this horse? It’s ears are lopsided! It looks stupid, fix it! Ok, I’m coming back in 5 minutes and if its ears still look like that I’m smashing it.”
We can’t even take him to the grocery store because he screams at everyone who buys bottled water or plastic grocery bags XD
Anyway, yeah, it will be interesting to have Nox arrive at my mom’s in the midst of this. Been a few months since I’ve seen everyone. 😛
I think the 10 day limit is a bit long… but for inactive threads with no new items I get it. Legit conversation or adding a new item I think should trump the 10 day limit.
Mine might be a day or two late since I’m waiting for something in the mail, but I’ll xpresspost it so it arrives by christmas… I hope that’s ok! Hopefully the item arrives tomorrow and I can ship then.
I kind of agree with Chris :/ I find it kind of annoying when people jump through and “bump” all the sales threads or all the community threads for no reason than to say “good luck selling” but I think that’s more of an issue of warning the user.
WetCanvas is pretty good, I agree with locking old threads.
Also it seems the issue with the search function might be made better by improving the search function rather than making the threads more relevant? I was trying to find the old christmas swap thread and it was on like page 4, and the threads in between didn’t match my query at all. I’m not sure how you would do this, maybe adding extra search options (like to search only the community section) and making it so the thread title and original post has higher relevancy for keywords. Right now it seems like more recent threads always show up first.
Since the forum is relatively small it’s not a big deal, but always room for improvement right? 🙂
