I don’t think you’ve got anything to feel bad about, darjeb (if, indeed, you feel bad at all?). I think it’s great! Good luck on your surgery

I got mine from darjeb. A subscription to HOW magazine! It’s like the gift that gives all year, and super useful. Thanks Darjeb!

I hope what I ordered will be here tomorrow or Tuesday so I can get the box sent out early this week *chews nails*.

Reminds of the militant vegan in our local area that writes into the regional newspaper on a fairly regular basis, but he can always be counted on to send in a letter when there’s an outbreak of E Coli or Salmonella telling us all that we should never eat meat or eggs or dairy and so on and so forth.

He was so bad that while I still worked at that paper I had a tick mark post-it that I made a mark on every time I saw one of his letters in the editorials.

The funniest thing was that while he was writing in regarding those outbreaks, they were always outbreaks on plant materials! Spinach, tomatoes, lettuce, etc. And never meat.

Is dee you in dun. Finally! I just need to hit hobby lobby for mat material and mat it and it’ll be ready for the selling.

Also, as the description at the link says, what’s the interest in larger print sizes?

                        You Have Chosen Tears

This one is a tough read, but it’s comparable to the Rainbow Bridge.

I’m sorry you’ve reached this point with your baby. I had to make that choice with my dog a couple of years ago now. It’s always gutwrenching and it will never get easier. I an unsure what your faith is, but I also found comfort in a book called “Heaven is for Real” about a little boy who visits Heaven during a life-threatening hospital visit. He told his Dad about all the animals there, so it seems that they wait for us.

I think the saying goes: “You can’t please everyone all of the time.”

I can only speak for myself, because I am not at the Factory and while I have an idea of how much time goes into these things, I cannot say for sure how long a special, well painted piece takes Melody or P.S. or anyone else at the Factory.

So, speaking for myself only– eBay is super scary. Though some of my things did sell very well, and there isn’t a day that goes by that I’m not thankful.. even more did not, especially toward the end. This is awesome and terrible for me. It’s awesome because I LOVE that people want my paint jobs, and I love that people cherish them! I was genuinely happy for the people that got my stuff at lower prices, because, Like Melody, if I didn’t have to pay bills… I’d love to just give this stuff away all day to people that would find joy in looking at it. For real! But the terrible part is that I have real bills just like everyone else, and I have to find a way to be paid for my time like everyone else.

So, in my gut, I really do feel for the resistance people feel to this. For me, even a blank PYO feels “expensive”, because “expensive” is all relative to one’s income, to some extent, right? So I absolutely understand where you are coming from there. The idea of spending $400 for a pegasus would make me gasp and fall over. I just couldn’t do it! That’s like.. nearly 3 months of groceries, for me! (thankfully I don’t have to, even though I covet how beautiful most Windstones are to me).

At the same time, you have to understand how unfair it is to expect someone to work and make very little to no money for their time. As an artist, I get this a LOT!! It’s very frustrating to feel as if the world as a whole values my time, skill, and years of study and training less than they value someone else’s work. I’ve had folks that were angry with me that I was selling a painting I did for $1,000. That was too much money for them to afford (again, I understand. It’d be too much for me, too), but instead of accepting that it was just something that they couldn’t afford at that time, they instead chose to get angry with me over it. This isn’t fair– that painting took me over 200 hours to complete, not including materials and the days I spent preparing and researching my subject matter. $1,000 had me making less than $5/hr– for a skilled trade. If I had suggested that they go to work for less than $5/hr, doing a skilled and demanding trade with mandatory overtime, I’m sure they’d be upset with me.

I apologize for the rant, but this is something that is close to my heart and it hurts in a way to think that folks would be angry with Windstone choosing to price SOME (not all!!! This isn’t replacing eBay, or normal sales, or free monthly raffles or any of that stuff!!) of their pieces at closer to what they value the time of their artists and other employees to be worth.

                            Quoted for truth (and eloquence).

Maybe it’s because I’ve been so broke since…forever, or maybe I was just raised in a practical family, I dunno, but I just don’t get the hurt feelings.

                              I sincerely don’t.

In the end, it’s a pretty piece of art made to sit on a shelf and glitter. And collect dust. To a certain extent, some pieces are an investment, but as demonstrated by the special piece reselling, some pieces aren’t. It isn’t life or death. You won’t wither away and die without it (no, really, you won’t, promise!!). I’ve seen a few things I would just love to have on my shelf, but can’t afford them, and that’s fine. If the buyer wants to resell later, that’s their prerogative a la Bobby Brown.

You didn’t get what you wanted? So what? I want a jacked up Ford F150 Raptor, but it’s not going to happen anytime soon either. You aren’t entitled to anything and the people that bought those pieces don’t owe anybody anything either.

I suppose this might be a little harsh, but this is what crosses my mind every time I see someone post about the price of a piece they wanted that was out of their reach. Carry on.

Best of luck TDM. What a mess, and so hard on everyone involved.
