Has anyone here attempted to re-seal a crazed piece? (I don’t recommend this– do it at your own risk)

This is what I was thinking. I may attempt it on a piece and watch it for results – I have an old male dragon that has some crazing and I would be willing to try re-sealing a section of it with some of my Liquitex paint-on varnish to see if it does anything. I figure I can try it on a section that is less visible. He needs some repairs anyway 🙂

Would definitely like to know how that goes!

The dragon in question has it all over, unfortunately. BUT she’s a white dragon. Might be easier to replicate her colour?

The thing that stinks is that the crazing seems to be underneath the sealant (or whatever – they said you can’t feel it to the touch, so I’m thinking it’s under a clear layer of some type)

I have to mention again I really would love a pearly pink fledgling, young, baby and hatching dragon, pretty please when you have time to have more dragons painted!

A pearly pink fledgling would be just darling. And Valentine’s Day is coming up soon…

Pearly pink dragons would be PERFECT for Valentine’s day!

Oh! I had been meaning to post this… I do not have the sculpt any more, but I thought this was just precious. <3

Melody, you did paint some production dragons in pearly pink because I have a pearly pink lap–got her from another forum member. Other than the curlies, I don’t know of other pieces you painted this color.

I remember doing laps and curlies, and maybe one old warrior…and a scratcher…eesh, too may dragon colors to keep track of.

Any chance of some of these making a reappearance? I googled the Pearly Pink Lap dragon and I am in love…!

On the other hand, I want a “Snow White” Flip Flap Cat to make a Yin-Yan pair with “Slick”, the coal black/red eye Flap Cat from ebay. Melody can’t win. 😀

    (lousy flash photo)

Slick is the best name for a black cat, aww!

Thank you everyone! The encouragement and advice was so helpful.

As an addendum – I gave it to my friend as a birthday present. His favourite animals in the world are wolves and I noticed he didn’t actually have any decorations related to them. It was originally for him, which is why I was so upset when it arrived broken, but his reaction was worth all the work I put into it! He gave me a big hug, and he keeps it on display near his TV now. 🙂

I hand paint all the repairs I do and it works fine. The gold, I’d use a deco pen though.

For the gold, I’m lucky enough to have found a gold enamel paint that I have used in Windstone details before – Matches perfectly 🙂

Sounds like it may be less trouble just to paint the black. Now I have to go paint match the black..! My local art store sells Golden paints, is there a specific Matte Black I should look for?

    That’s a photo of the epoxy-filled area.

Her color is “Plum #1,” the flash makes it seem brown but to the eye the whole area is about the same as the more purple-ish parts of the photo.

Yea… you couldn’t pet much on Shady without getting a little skeeved out. His hip bones, shoulder blades, and brest bone (sternum i guess) were particularly… unsettling to pet, but he loved being touched nonetheless so I still gave him pets though many visitors would tend to want him to stay away. He was scary looking compared to how gorgeous he was when he was younger, but he was still the same cat. I’d like to see other 25 year old cats and see how they fair in a beauty contest. They wastewaste away just like an elderly person does.

Our older gentleman cat had this kind of physique near the end of his life as well. You wouldn’t want to pick him up for fear of breaking him! He used to be a well-muscled handsome cat as well – It’s very nice to hear your Shady was loved till the end. Some people can’t quite deal with all of the special care an older pet needs.

Sorry I can’t be of much help, but did you contact the seller about the misrepresenting photos? Explain how it would have affected your decision to purchase – They may be willing to give you a partial discount.
