I’ll give Kyrin a sympathetic hug also. I have 2 dragons on my ‘wish list’- a yellowy old green young and a peacock rising spectral. Both have been scarce on eBay recently- almost as scarce as my money (which I work very hard for, but not being able to afford to finish my degree keeps me from improving things much). I’ve only seen 2 suitable youngs recently; 1 was in England and with the weak dollar shipping alone would be prohibitive. The other I was sniped on. The riser was up a few days ago; though he had damage, he went higher than I dared before payday today. So I understand the occasional feeling of resentment towards those better off. But (like I think Kyrin has implied) I don’t in general hate or resent them- I feel glad for them, but sad for me. I hate myself for being in this position more! Phooey on caviar tastes with a ramen budget! I don’t hate or resent snipers; we all do it, it seems often to be the only way to win. It’s just the temporary ouch makes you want to vent. (I don’t look to see who the high bidder was, does no good anyhow).
Hugs to anyone who has ever lost that special piece, and hugs to those who’ve won them also!
(and phooey on my foresight- I chose to get the sitter instead of the riser a year ago, since I saw risers so much more often and they had a bunch in the store still. Now I see lots of sitters and no risers! 😛 )

Very natural looking colors, the blending- I even like the scarring! As if he were a wild animal who’d had his troubles. Even the red eye looks great- all lizardy.
If you order an odd-eyed wolf, then, you can request which side is which color? Would be very helpful if so.
I found these sea dragon pics online; I bet you could do one of these. Cool looking critters! They’re related to pipefish and seahorses (and like them, the males have the babies)
Leafy sea dragon
Weedy sea dragon
Head shot of a leafyI’m pipsxlch everywhere. I try to bid as close to last minute as possible also; but I haven’t been able to bid much lately. Just an old green young dragon I got outbid on even though i thought I bid crazy high- oh well.
If I don’t really want something, I won’t bid against any of y’all if I recognize you, but if it’s the right color old green young dragon or peacock rising spectral… 😈When I auctioned a couple of things a few weeks ago, teh sales listing page wouldn’t even allow me to add a shipping calculator, no matter how I tried. I used to have it in my listings. I have some more things to auction, but I’m not going to sell there anymore if I can’t even get the ‘should-be’ of the calculator. People lately have been too difficult to deal with. (I’ll admit to being a computer nincompoop, but I was able to add a calculator earlier in the summer…)
Sounds like you found it from Kyrin… I was going to say I have an omnibus edition of “The Unexpected Dragon” with ‘Pigs Don’t Fly’, ‘Master of Many Treasures’ and ‘Dragonne’s Eg’ that you could have. Being we’re both in Florida, shipping shouldn’t be TOO outrageous.
Ooh, PC, I love it! 😯 😀
A dragon snail- what a unique, interesting idea! Too cool!
I’d love to be on the ‘dibs’ list too, if possible. And one with a spikey murex-like shell- gotta see that. Though I love the moon snailish one! And his face is REALLY starting to come out great!
I keep on thinking of Ski’s pink scratcher and Nam’s Neptune for color ideas. Pearly irridescent soft colors, pinks and teals. Though look at sea slugs- there’s some wild bright color combos.
Have you thought of sea dragons for a sculpting idea also? I have some pics on my computer I’ll have to go find and edit in, I’ve never seen one done, and you’re good enough.Doesn’t Rusti do web design? She did a great job setting up a dummy opening page for the Windstone site, if I remember right.
I think she’s beautiful! Love the rich browns, and the shading into black. Only part that doesn’t work for me is the gold scales on the thighs.
What’s her eye color?October 22, 2007 at 10:26 pm in reply to: What is the next special old warriors going to be? #627804Hah, you beat me to it, Serenity! Thought I’d seen a pic of a rainbow at the factory somewhere. Though they can come first, and leave me more time to save for the old green lol.
Greater Basilisk wrote:Ditto! Pip, I’d be interested in your EmPea Proto, depending on what price you’ve got in mind.
I really don’t know; what would he be worth? Have any popped up in the secondary market yet? I haven’t noticed any. I see that regular empeas are $260 in the store; mine was close to $700, but I know I can’t get that now.
Ah well, I won’t be selling him anyhow unless Melody is sure on the old greens. SO There’s time to set a price- maybe one will pop up on ebay.If there will be an old green OW, is there any interest in my prototype empea OW? I’m not selling now, so this isn’t for flea market, just wondering if anyone would pay a reasonable price (more than reg. OWs, though I doubt I’d get what I paid) for him now that regular empea OWs are available. I’d probably have to sell him to help pay for the new OW. 🙄
Yep, have the COA and box; he’s #6/10.
There’s a foundry a couple miles down the road from me, you could get one done here lol…
I used to be vet tech for an animal shelter. I’ve had to do it too often for work, and I’ve had to do it too often for my own. When all they have left in life is suffering that will know no relief, though… When the time comes for my current partners, I’ll see that they suffer no more than necessary, and that someone who loved them is there holding them. I like the idea of giving a sedative first, to alleviate any fear from the being restrained and poked. And if being ‘the one’ is more than you can take right now, they would be less aware of who is. There is no sin in that, and nothing to be forgiven for.
For what it’s worth, I cared for my grandmother during the last few years of her life. She spent much of them begging me to find something to kill her. Maybe if our critters could speak English, they would ask for release also.
My last one was my Doomer-dog (the red [brown] one in my avatar) last year. He was 16, and had been deaf and mostly blind as well as getting more and more arthritic for a couple years. He wasn’t done yet, though. But when he had a stroke, he looked at me and said that’s it. It happened on a weekend, and he’d improved some by Monday, so I had terrible doubts. He still didn’t, though. And I was there with him, as I had been since he was 9 weeks old. Now he gets to be with his beloved Pip (the other dog in the pic). She dropped dead of a ruptured splenic tumour when she was 10, I still have terrible guilt over her, she was my heart dog. We were walking out to the car, I knew I haad to get to the vet. I couldn’t eat for 2 weeks. I have been told, though that it was as sudden and surprising for her as for me. Neither she nor Doomer really ‘told’ me anything; I had a bad feeling and had had her to the vet a few days before, but they told me I was a neurotic owner and she was fat but otherwise fine (turns out they didn’t do the thoracic and abdominal cavity X-rays I’d asked for, next time I’ll ask to see them).
PT, years ago I had an experience with a vet- a cat I’d rescued as a very young 3-legged kitten and nursed through (also) 16 years worth of GI problems and breast cancer at 12, started having mini-strokes, and her leg became ulcerated and wouldn’t heal. She had already left her body behind, so I took her to be euthanized. The vet refused, started talking about removing the stub… Survivor was already GONE, and had almost died during breast surgery. Why would I put her through more hell?! She implied I just wanted to dump the cat now she was a problem. Then why did I deal with all her problems for 16 years?! (it was a visiting vet filling in at the practice I used, needless to say I gave them an earful)
Best of luck to you! 🙂
WOW is all I can say. 😯 Absolutely gorgeous! I like him besy I think, even better than Neptune. It is a great natural-looking job (even with the interference, some lizards and snakes have that!)
