Oh boy, here’s my first attempt to sculpt…Anyone know how to sculpt hair? I got some glass eyes off of ebay that are supposed to be for stuffed toys because I haven’t the slightest clue how to sculpt an eye….I love otters and this is what I came up with….He’s done in oil clay so he’s just a learning piece…I’d like your opinions but am pretty nervous about showing him to anyone…

August 21, 2007 at 12:37 pm #609920That is so cute. The eye is too big for it’s face but, it could work. For sculpting hair you can try a garlic mincer. That way you get long strands of clay or whatever you are using.
August 21, 2007 at 12:43 pm #609921Hehe…Yeah, his eyes are kinda big, when I ordered the eyes they came in big bags so I’ve got a bag of like 12 sets of really big blue eyes! 😀
August 21, 2007 at 1:41 pm #609922Hahaha! I love him! He’s soooo cute. You definitely got the otter look. He’s even got the mischivious tinkle…
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

I host the feedback lists, which are maintained by drag0nfeathers.

August 21, 2007 at 2:02 pm #609924I was afraid his head was squirrelish…I wish he wasn’t oil clay so I could keep him…does anyone know what kind of hardening clays have a texture closest to oil clay? I like the smoothness and ease of workableness but haven’t a clue of what to get…
August 21, 2007 at 2:26 pm #609925He’s adorable! Just like an otter. I like the eyes even though they are a little big.
August 21, 2007 at 3:59 pm #609926I like your little otter very much! He looks like an illustration for a little kids’ book, all big eyes and cute stuff. Too bad he can’t harden!
August 21, 2007 at 4:52 pm #609927I love your style…for a first attempt it’s really good. He’s cute and the large eyes make him look innocent like PUSS IN BOOTS from SHREK’s first movie (the part that he’s holding his hat and giving that sad look). 😆
August 21, 2007 at 5:06 pm #609928hehe…I love puss in boots! Thanks! 🙂 I feel better about him now than I did before too! 😀
August 21, 2007 at 5:18 pm #609929I saw that last night in your photobucket! that looks so way cute PC! reall good job!
August 21, 2007 at 6:12 pm #609930He is sooo cute! Looks like one of the animated characters with the big doe-like eyes. Very cute!
August 21, 2007 at 6:24 pm #609931I like the giant eye. I think the head is a bit squirrelish, but then I don’t know much about otters, so that’s just what clicks for me at a glance. Very cute all the same tho!

I believe Sculpty has the same consistancy as oil clay. You have to bake it when done, but it should work.
He’s really cute.
