I got hurt pretty bad at work today. Myself and a couple of coworkers were trying to (gently) wrangle a new/scared Great Dane inside from the play yard, and he ran into me at full speed, murdering my leg. Nothing is broken but the pain in my left quad area is incredible. He dealt a serious blow to it and I’m sure the muscle is bruised. I couldn’t even let any little dogs into my lap after that because for it to be touched/pressed at all hurts. I’m hobbling around like an old woman, and also, pressing in the clutch pedal when driving really sucks right now (it takes a bit more effort & stretching to press than the other pedals, for those of you who haven’t driven a stick shift).
No jogging for me this week, probably.On a lighter note, I also made myself laugh at work today when I tried to call to a pair of dogs named Sophie and Bella and I yelled out, “Sofa!”

Hey, Phantomness, I know our local Dollar Tree store usually has ice scrapers for a buck if you’re in the US. You could try there and even get a spare if you still need one. 🙂
Thanks, I already replaced it though. I spent 12 bucks for a pretty nice one- they had others for half that price but I wanted one that extended to be extra-long since one of my vehicles is a Bronco and I’m a shorty, and it also seems sturdier (hopefully), and the scraper part is a little wider which is nice. The brush part of it also swivels to 2 positions, lol.
I might try checking out the dollar store to get a second one though, so I don’t have to switch this one between vehicles when my Bronco is running again. (This long one will be the one to go with my Bronco!) Sometimes I forget what a variety of stuff the dollar store has!
Oh and, the suffix on my screenname is just “ess,” not “ness.” :p

The ice on my windshield broke my ice scraper a couple mornings ago. 😐 Did not appreciate that.
We have a bit of snow still on the ground although the sun melted a lot of it today, and the main roads are pretty clear. Getting in & out of my neighborhood is mildly treacherous, though!

January’s prize is a black fledgeling dragon with gold and copper tiger stripes. I think he was painted by PS.
He has metallic gold/beige eyes and a topaz jewel.Ooh! I’m definitely interested! Fledgeling is another dragon sculpt I don’t have yet and that paint scheme sounds awesome 😀

Thanks for updating us and I’m glad to hear about the gradual improvement. Good luck with your continued therapy, and I’m glad Mary’s been able to be such a help to you and that she can also be compensated now. That’s great. 🙂

I haven’t read that many yet- just some of the first page- but I can’t help wondering if these are a joke, mostly written by the same person or something. Would that many people take the time to type such detailed accounts of their experience, and be so eloquent, descriptive & humorous?

This happened tonight? Well, I’m really glad you’re not hurt, but you may be in pain tomorrow from the impact – muscles, most likely. Do be on the lookout for it, especially in the neck. You’re stressed now, so when the adrenaline wears off, you might feel it. If you do, make sure to get it checked out, just in case.

Yep, it happened tonight. Thanks for the advice- it didn’t seem so bad, he was slowed down a good bit before hitting me but it did end up being more of a jolt than I thought it’d be. My head feels weird, a little shaken up but nothing significant (my head didn’t hit anything).
Thanks 🙂If it’s totally his fault, you can call and make his insurance cover the rental so you don’t have any out of pocket expenses. I’ve done this in the last two accidents we were in (somehow, I manage to get hit at stop signs and in parking lots a lot…) They’ll just call and confirm with him that he hit you, then they should call and arrange the rental.
Oh really? Interesting, I’ll have to try that! Thanks, I appreciate it! That’s weird though. My insurance company said they were willing to cover a rental, but only as reimbursement, not right away I guess. If insurance companies can arrange and pay for it up front, why won’t mine? 😐 I’ll try tomorrow to see if the other dude’s insurance will.

Well, after 10 years of driving, I’m no longer accident-free. This evening I was on my way home from the gym- and I wouldn’t have gone if it had been a far drive, because it’s quite snowy out there, but it’s only a few blocks away. I’m always very careful in the snow, too, never had any issues but nothing can be done about the driving of other people.
Well, on my way home I got into the turn lane in the middle of the street and sat there with my turn signal on waiting to turn left onto the residential street leading into my neighborhood. I was waiting for an SUV that was coming up the street. Well, suddenly I saw the SUV start to go all swervy on the snow; according to him another car pulled out in front of him but I hadn’t noticed that. I could tell he was trying to brake but the snow complicated things and he kept coming and swerving and plowed into the front of my car (actually my husband’s car). I saw him coming and wanted to move but just didn’t have time.
I was wearing my seatbelt and he must’ve been too. Nobody got hurt so that is good. He came out of his SUV yelling in anger though- not yelling at me but just yelling and cussing in anger. The other car that apparently got in his way never stopped, just kept going and left. So we exchanged our info & everything, and I used his cell phone to call my husband who was at home very close by so he drove to me in my Honda. He was able to drive his Firebird home carefully but the front is super messed up and smashed in and I smelled smoke. The tire was rubbing on the fender, and all the lights inside and out stopped working. It’s actually probably totalled because the radiator core support seems to be bent and that’s part of the body. The claims adjustor has to come examine it though and decide if it’s totalled. Which also means we have to keep our paws off it and leave it just how it is which is difficult for us.The situation is complicated by the fact that even if it’s declared totalled, my husband wants to keep it for some of the stuff on it so that means we won’t get much if any money from the insurance company! I don’t know what’s gonna happen.
This will also suck if my insurance rates get raised. I’m hoping it won’t since it was 100% NOT my fault.In the meantime we’re kinda screwed for transportation since we both work. We have a few vehicles but that Firebird and Honda are the only ones which are currently running. I talked to my insurance company already to report the accident and they said we could get a rental car by paying for it out of pocket and then get reimbursed for it later, but that means we’d have to have the money for that now in the first place which we don’t! Ugh.

Existing businesses can use kickstarter to fund new efforts – like the costs to start up a new line of sculpts or other new product lines.
Still not sure what it is though… does it mean they’ll be sold for high prices on e-bay? I’ll try googling kickstarter.
Edit: Ok I discovered there’s a website called kickstarter, seems to basically be a fundraising website. I’m still pretty confused as to what that has to do with these dragons which are already made- but oh well, it’s probably not even any of my business at this point anyway!

Wow! I’m following your story, just letting you know.
Edit: you posted the last part while I was posting or while I was reading the previous part, before I posted. Anyway, my thoughts and prayers are with you. You’ve been going through a heck of a lot and I hope this rough patch will not last long and that you’ll be doing better soon, with the meds and therapy helping, and getting back to work too. I’m glad you at least got some better help finally.
It’s also great you’re still having a good attitude as much as you can, laughing with Mary and looking forward to doing your hobbies and such. Keep it up 🙂
