^^^^ They’re so CUTE!!!! I love the kitty-griffs. And you and Siberakh did beautiful work on the painting, congrats.

They ARE! I really love this sculpt! (I am secretly hoping for a lying-down or pounce-pose kittygriff, someday in the future, to diversify my flock.) As a younger aspiring artist, I drew a lot of kitty griffins; finding a Windstone version is just too awesome and I will probably end up with a million. 😀

Thank you for the compliment, too! I’m not a master painter by any means, but I’m overall happy how mine turned out. (Siberakh’s, of course, came out stunning!) There are better pictures of each one in my PYO thread, over in the other section of the Forum; the conga pic was taken in a hurry and they’re a little too brightly lit to make out details.

Oh, WOW, that Driftwood Emperor is wonderful!!

I really love pale woods and driftwood especially; you’ve nailed the colors, Laurie!

It works like this http://windstonestore.com/ without the www. Our webmaster is still working on the transfer of ALL of our old site to the new WordPress site. Its a work in progress.

Aha! Well, that’s an easy solution, then; it never even occurred to me to leave the www off, I just always type them out of habit!

          Thank you!

I finished my next Siamese Kitty Griffin last week, and this week I got around to taking photos.

In keeping with the nature of chocolate point kitties, his white areas are very white (chocolate points tend to stay high-contrast their whole lives, while seal and blue points often darken with age) and his points are a rich cocoa-brown, distinct from the cooler sable tones of a seal point.

With all his relatives and friend:

One new conga has been achieved!

About a week ago I finished up a kitty griffin PYO, bringing my total to four. 🙂

The Siamese Sibs are (left to right) Seal Point, Blue Point, & Chocolate Point, all painted by me. The gorgeous Barn Owl x Dilute Tortoiseshell was painted by Siberakh1 on commission.

This is a whine – I have 16 Risers for a conga and no place to line them up. 🙁

Ha! I sympathize. As you can see, I had to answer the question, “Where can you line up a conga of 11 Lap Dragons?” with The floor… 😀

When I had ten, they just barely fit on the buffet! Eleven, it turns out, will fit only on my mother’s dining room table or else on the floor of the den… I can only imagine what it’d be like to try and stretch out sixteen!

My Windstones are “free range” – I don’t currently own a display cabinet, so they live in groups scattered around my bedroom. Most of the Whites are on the big dresser, with an enclave on the bookshelf by the bed as well. There’s a trio of Orientals on the small dresser, and the shelf above the desk has six Lap Dragons in a rainbow of colors. Smaller pieces like the Pebble Cougars and the Frog Prince are tucked here and there around the room, often on top of books or in a short row on top of the little shelf at the end of the snake’s tank.

I own more than I can display right now (just one more reason I’m looking at buying my own house!) so periodically box some up and swap them out for others.

Since I got all the scattered Lap Dragons down for a photo session today, I’m thinking about rearranging; they look so nice together, it occurs to me that I could box up a few Whites and move the rest to the over-desk shelf, and then maybe the Laps would (mostly) fit on the big dresser…

When I have my own place, I definitely plan to acquire some shelves specifically for the Windstones! The larger pieces, especially: I feel that they look best with a dedicated place of their own. (I quite like the smaller pieces tucked in unexpected places, though; that probably won’t change, except for there’ll be more!) My plan is for wooden shelves; I don’t trust glass, not after some of the horror stories I’ve heard/seen photos of. Plus, I think the shininess of glass can distract from the Windstones, or cast weird glares on them. A solid, neutral wood tone just sort of fades into the background, letting the pieces shine. (One reason I really love seeing them on the dresser.) Glass doors would be nice, though, to cut down on dust and pet-related incidents.

Ideally, I’d like to commission custom shelving, but failing that I think I could make do with a premade piece; I’m willing to invest some time and effort (and networking) to modify it by painting/refinishing, adding doors, etc. if I can find a solid piece or two!

My Lap Dragon conga has grown by one! I’m excited to present new conga line photos for your enjoyment.

Sorry for the clutter in some of the shots; the front half of the house was painted recently, and we haven’t put everything back yet.

                    Dance, my conga, dance!

                    Butts!

Adding to the pile of “I started young” answers! I got my first Windstone when I was around 15. Before that, I had admired my friend’s KiRins, but couldn’t afford any of my own. With high school came a summer job, and I started working on my collection – I fell in love with the White dragon family, and my first piece was the White Mother! (I developed a method pretty early on, where I alternated paycheck purposes – the first one went to savings, the second to my checking account to spend; the next to savings again, etc.)

I’ve been a “slow but steady” collector through the years, and have amassed a decent (by my standards) collection! I think it helps that I mostly tend to concentrate on a goal and work toward it. My first goal was “all the dragon sculpts I like, in White.” Once I had that mostly accomplished, and new colors started coming out, I developed a secondary goal: “all the colors I like, on my favorite sculpt (the Lap Dragon).”

Over the years, I’ve taken up a couple of sidelines (I once walked into the store to buy a White dragon and fell in love with a Peacock Oriental; eventually I tracked down his other family members, and am still hoping for the Moon Oriental to appear in Peacock!), and also PYOs as I enjoy painting, but by the standards of several people here I’m still an amateur, and pretty limited. (Kirins are my only unicorns; I don’t do Curled/Coiled dragons; I don’t do wizards, castles, or cats; and there are a few dragon sculpts I don’t care for and don’t have any of; I did find one Pebble sculpt I liked, and have started collecting those, but no others.)

I do not make much money, really! I live at home because I can’t afford rent anywhere safe, I’m that (relatively) poor. For me, having Windstones mostly comes down to priorities (I will buy Windstones rather than other luxuries – my TV is almost 20 years old and I don’t eat out much! I also don’t have children) and patience (I buy what I can, when I can, and try to fill in the gaps later by watching for good deals on Ebay or the Classifieds), with a smidge of luck (I’m fortunately debt-free and in good health, and my car is, too) and planning.

For the last three years, I’ve worked for a nonprofit animal rescue group; I make $9.50 an hour, so with 40 hours a week you can work out what my tax bracket should be. 🙂 I’m hoping to find a better job and make some “real” money this year, so I can move out and give my collection the space it deserves (alas, a lot of it is boxed up in the closet right now, and has been since I came home) and do things like, uh, have pets. (Plural. I do have one snake already.)

Currently, I own… 35-40 Windstone factory pieces, plus a flock of PYOs. The non-PYO pieces range from a special Ebay Prototype Old Warrior (#13/15 of the very first Black Violet-Peacocks) down to a Frog Prince I picked up when a store was going out of business. So far, I’m not one of those lucky people who find Windstones at thrift stores, but I have gotten a few pieces at less-than-typical prices because they had a few scrapes or dings; I’ve been teaching myself repair skills!

I meant the crystal globe in the middle.

Ahhh, okay, now I see! That makes sense. 🙂

There have been odd dragons in the past who escaped the factory with a different eye or gem color than they ought to have (in fact, there’s a blue-eyed Copper Patina dragon up for sale in the Classifieds right now!) so that was my first thought; I don’t own any Curlies or Coileds, so I tend to forget about the globe accessory on those pieces!

Susie, thank you so much for the info! That’s very handy to know, about the “quantum” tracking numbers!

Thankfully (as you note) the box did finally arrive!! So I’m glad I held off on contacting anyone official, this time. 🙂 Obviously, it’s just been too long since I last ordered a Lap Dragon — I’d forgotten the average travel time, and then confused myself worse by mistaking it for another package. (Must order Laps more often, right?)

Thanks for double-checking for me, and I’ll definitely try to make a note that the standard UPS shipping takes a week, so I won’t panic next time.

The Tanzanite color is *GORGEOUS*, by the way — in person, I am even more impressed and pleased with it than I was with the Store photos!

Nightcrow – I just tracked your package and it was delivered this afternoon. I’ve just sent you an email through your store order with the tracking number.

                            And for everyone:
If anyone has a question about their package, please contact us more directly than posting on the forum – I just happened upon this thread in the forum today, we don’t always see these messages. Please email service@windstoneeditions.com for a faster reply!

This is how tracking numbers are provided to you:

UPS emails tracking numbers in the evening after we are done shipping for the day – they come as “Quantum Ship Notifications” and you may not realize exactly what they are for – they also like to get caught up in junk mail filters.

When we ship USPS Priority Mail, the tracking number is attached to your paypal payment when we make the postage label for the package on the day that we ship the package.

When we ship First Class Mail International, we try to remember to give you the customs number – it would come as a note on your order and we add these when we mark the order “complete”.

The “complete” status means that we’ve shipped your order.

Nabbed the last curled one. It’s lovely, but I think s colored crystal would be prettier than the clear one.

The current store description says they have purple crystals… Were some of the early ones made with clear crystals?

I noticed the other day when I was browsing the PYO section that Albino eyes aren’t one of the choices on the dropdown menu; is this because they’re sold out?

I didn’t look at every sculpt, but the Kitty Griffin, Kirin, small Dragon, and Griffin definitely didn’t have an Albino option.

If they are out, any idea when they’ll be back?

I just checked. We DO have albino eyes for all the pyos. However, Susie says it is really complicated to add more eye colors to the new store. So, choose one of the available eye colors from the list (so you can place the order) and then, in the customer notes, write that you would like albino eyes instead.

Okay, cool! I was wondering if it might be something like that, since it seemed to be an issue on multiple different sizes of PYOs. 🙂

OK, some new information has come to light, so I’ve edited my post.

I’m still feeling a little paranoid, because UPS *has* delivered a Lap Dragon to the wrong address before and then lied to me about its being delivered to me! (I was 608 N. Oakland, and — I suspect — they sent it to 608 S. Oakland! And they were no help at all about it, just insisted it had been delivered and gave me the first name of whomever had signed for it… because goodness knows there’s only one Michelle in the world, right?? A few days later the package just turned up on my doorstep, and I’ve no idea if somebody gave it back to them to redeliver or if the recipient just brought it by and left it there when it turned out to be something they didn’t want/realized it wasn’t theirs.)

Hopefully, though, it’s just a case of “running slow this week” and it will turn up soon…?

                                  Thank you all again.
