Finally started working on the lava dragon again.
I wasn’t sure what to do with some of the body parts so it ended up sitting around in WIP limbo for a bit. Right now I’m not even sure if I’m going to keep the mouth and nose as they are…. but I’m worried if I paint over the mouth with black the nose will stand out like a big red and yellow thumb…
The holiday season is here so I made a few ornaments!
These two are metal cut-outs that I painted with automotive paint that I custom-made at work. They’re very shiny and sparkly irl, which my camera just can’t capture properly.
These are silly ornaments I made from leftover worm-on-a-strings that I bought for a gag gift.
Thankyou.:) The foiled areas look really nice irl, my camera phone just can’t capture it properly. Hopefully whatever comes from round 2 of using transfer foils ends up even better than this one.
December 11, 2019 at 5:59 am in reply to: What are your squeaks? Tell Melody here!! (part 2) #1592959Since Windstone has a number of pebble felines, why not also have a couple more pebble canines? Could call them Pebble Pups. Maybe PYO Pebble Pups; that way people can paint them in the image of their own pet.
And even better, have an “ears-up” version and an “ears-down” version to have more coverage of different breeds.
So putting out a squeak for some sort of Pebble Pup!
Thank you everyone!:)
Ela_Hara, that’s another good idea. Might have to try that too now.
Another dragon is done!
This curiously-colored dragon is called Hologram. It was used to test out some holographic foil transfer sheets I had bought from ebay. While they didn’t work out as well as I would have liked, the areas with the foil still look pretty cool (lower half of body, wings, horns and spinal plates). The belly is painted with Dragonfly holographic paint and the rest is just Sparks paint over a black base.
Excess foil sheets and paint will be used to make some Christmas ornaments to minimize waste.
I think the foil transfer sheets would work much better on a smooth surface like the sushi cats. Might do that in the future…
Thank you.:) She’s probably dealt with a lot of mischievous baby dragons if the color of her fur is any indicator.
Awww, you found a cute little dragon hatching from its egg! The temptation to just walk up and carry it away is overwhelming, but you get the feeling its mother is watching you very carefully…
Made this from a garage figure kit, a cut-up plastic tree, and some gravel I grabbed from the driveway out front. The mother isn’t finished just yet because I need to find some rocks to hide her base but she will eventually join her baby.
The figures are very small and detailed but either have a gaudy base or just can’t stay up on their own, so I attached this one to a rock and filled in space with tiny gravel pieces to give it size and stability.
I found a paint that might be interesting for some people… it’s called Dragonfly Glaze Color Changing Top Coat. Very fine holographic glitter in a top coat medium. It’s really nice and I haven’t seen it before today so it’s at least a newer product.
Tried it out on some test colors (black, white, blue, and red) and it shows up the best with a black or dark-colored background.Again, just in case anybody is interested in checking out something new for their pieces.
September 13, 2019 at 5:58 am in reply to: Well Traveled Windstones aka The "Have You Owned Me?" Thread #1579734I am at least the third owner of the “Sweet n Sour” Mother Ki-rin figure. At work so no photos but her pic comes up easy enough on Google. Her colors are a good fit for my little Ki-rin family, just with I had the space to properly display her right now.
Thank you! These dragons are really cute (much nicer irl than what my camera can capture) and I highly recommend them.
Thank you pipsxlch.:) Yes they’re PYO’s from the seller etruscan wrote, DemiurgusDreams. I like their size and simple design; makes them easy to paint in a short time.
