Title: Hetalia! Seasons 1 and 2 Axis Powers
<img src="http://static.zerochan.net/full/48/30/424048.jpg"
Synopsis: There was a ton of Hetalia cosplay at Megacon this year, and so when I saw the first two seasons, 52 episodes, at the Funimation table for only $35 I jumped all over it. Great deal right? No. Each episode is like 8 minutes. If you understand that Hetalia was based off a web comic it’s easier to understand…well not really.
The countries of the world are depicted as people matching the wants, needs, desires, and cliches of their populace. When a country is new, it’s a chibi baby, but most countries look like young teenage boys or young adults in this, hmmm I wonder why.
So Hetalia is all about the interactions of these cute boy countries as they make alliances, go to war, and cook their nation’s popular foods. For example, everyone hates England because of his nasty plain English food, France is afraid of Germany, America eats only hamburgers and always wants to dominate the conversation, Japan celebrates the new year with ice cream and manga, and everyone thinks Canada is America and then forget he’s even in the room when corrected. There are actually some history lessons embedded in the WTF craziness of this show, but not too much.
Star Rating:

Review: It mostly strange…but kind of funny. It’s REALLY funny when your drinking. I was working on my fourth beer and fell off the sofa, nearly choking up my lungs, when minty bunny showed up for the first time. Yeah, England hallucinates magical critters everywhere…I am not entirely sure why.
Overall, if WTF craziness is your thing, get it. If not, watch it at a friend’s first or rent it before adding it to your anime collection. It’s weird, it’s funny, but mostly weird, and there is very very little plot. There really is just one thing to say about Hetalia: PASTA!
Warnings and Praises: Language warning, very very creative language warning lol. There is a skit on SNL with otaku college kids making a student TV show and the professor calls it “loving racism.” Hetalia is also an example of this. But the stereotypes are so cliche it’s hard to imagine anyone getting really angry about it. However, this is something for younger generations; I could see older WW2 era people being terribly offended, especially since seasons 1 and 2 are based on the Axis powers. Also, there is no actual Yaoi in it, but the pairings of different countries naturally lends itself to that sort of fan girl stuff.

Big thanks to Bayoudragon for sending me this template! I hope to share a few more reviews soon since it was a very anime and manga heavy week for me in Florida.

I hope it’s today; I’ll be on a plane all day tomorrow! I wasn’t thinking I’d be able to get one, but I was actually pretty good in the vendor area at Megacon heh. Used cash for everything, so the credit card is feeling a bit rusty and needs a new Windstone purchase to clean off the cobwebs.

UGH I flew to Florida yesterday, Megacon is this weekend. And I FORGOT all my Grell accessories in CA!!! I begged my super-mom-who-did-NOT-kill-me to overnight ship them, but the post office could only do a 2 day shipping to this zip, and it’s costing my an additional $28 that I now won’t then be spending on awesome swag at the con! Sigh, but it’s a small price to pay to have my custom-made eyeglass skull beads! But ugh, I went over my bags again and again and never noticed I forgot my eyeglass chain, the gloves, ribbon, and the red glasses! So stooooopid of me.

O and a big WHINE for the flight. Coach sucks. I really don’t think I should have to pay for business or first class just to avoid inhumane conditions. And my mp3 player died mid-flight. So I’m getting drunk for the flight home.

Have you tried a Mr. Clean magic eraser? Those things take off stuff I can’t remove with anything else. (Including rust from pans my husband leaves in the sink with water around the bottom… *sigh*)

Yes, those are usually miracle workers. I started scrubbing, and there were some rust stains around the drain and some discolor too. Those are gone now, the shower is very clean and still very pink. I’m letting Quick N Bright sit for like 40mins, and if that doesn’t work the next major step is to melt the Quick N Bright like butter and apply it hot and let that sit for another 40 minutes. While I am waiting for this miracle to occur, I am writing my will :ghost:

Manic Panic is a wonderful, vegan, no animal testing, semi-permanent hair dye. I had my hair dyed red in a hair salon, but I wasn’t pleased with the level of redness. I have brown hair and want it red RED RED !RED! for Megacon in Orlando this weekend. So the stylist lady recommended Manic Panic. I apply it, and Iam very careful with splatter and forehead/neck staining, let it sit, hop in the shower, and rinse it off.

So yeah…if I disappear from the forum now it’s because my mother has KILLED ME! :ghost: Not only is my hair much more red, the shower is a lovely vibrant pink color too. I’ve scrubbed at it, again and again, and used Quick N Bright, and….I’m just in shock a vegetable semi-permanent dye could do this.

A word of advice to any who would use this wonderful product: get a hose and rinse it off outside. Pink grass and a freezing water rinse off would be so much the better problem to have right now /sigh

This “Ossi” sculpt looks like a peacock curled/coiled dragon hybrid.

There are some other things too that seemed way similar but not direct copies. The style of her abstract goddesses looks like Maya Hill’s statues, she has a meerkat baby statue…how many artists decide to make one of those, her winged wolf/shepherd dog is a similar pose to the wolf PYO, the mermaid is not the exact pose but similar, the pose of her iguana on a rock looks a lot like the small rock dragon. Perhaps it’s unintentional because she’s been influenced by Windstones, but I think the mother dragon was the start of the rip off escapades, and she’s changed things around a bit to keep from being called out as an utter thieving slag.

…And another one, maybe? I am not familiar enough with the mermaid statues… http://www.etsy.com/listing/48609689/concrete-mermaid-garden-statues-mermaid

I’ve reported an Etsy garden artist sculptor who is claiming the ‘Mother Dragon’ mold/design is her own work to John. She has tons of other copyright infringement statues that she is claiming as her own work (David the Gnome for instance) but she definitely is copying Windstone.

If anyone was interested in looking at it, here it is. http://www.etsy.com/transaction/51677613

Same seller also has something that looks like a potential rip off of the young unicorn statue. It’s much smaller though.

WoW in less than a year?COOL!! Very nice.

I don’t think everything in that case is necessarily new, but yes, I filled a new case in 11 months… So yes, I admit it, I have a problem =P

I’m testing to see if i really don’t have to use a image hosting website to post here…I’m in a XHTML class and I’m learning some cool stuff that I feel like a dope for not knowing about in the first place!

my windstone collection photograph

rats, it didn’t work, any smart computer people know why?

I used (adding spaces to make this read normal) stuff they tell me I have to say for validation
the way I set up the file location is : photos/my_windstones/102_2432.jpg

sigh, I don’t see what I did wrong, but it’s only week 2 so hopefully I will learn

ahhh I totally forgot I owe some good pictures of this guy. It must of been because I was all caught up in the grab bag baby madness! The clear coat does help, I’ve done three coats, but there is still a texture issue but /shrug I knew I was buying a damaged piece to start with, the nail polish only made it more of a challenge!

I’m off Sunday, so I will take some nice pics in the sunshine to show off my pretty boy.

Got one I just adore, so no trades for me. Good luck everyone with this round of musical unicorns!

Here’s mine! I got him Monday, but just got around to uploading pictures of him. I really love all of these unicorns, but when I unwrapped mine I couldn’t believe what I got! He’s a rainbow zebra pinto and absolutely perfect! I also got my first fuzzy (forgot to take a picture). Thank you so much Melody and all those involved in getting these to us!!!

He’s amazing! Even cuter than in the group photo.
