Yes, I can see why those would be high demand times! I bet after Christmas, though, might be a decent time to look for deals in classifieds and on ebay though. I’ll have to remember that. (Also wowzers!! Was that the teal one? I saw that and thought it was very pretty, but holy cow, I never would have guessed for that price…)@skeeterdeee

I’d have a lot more money if I hadn’t found this place, but a lot fewer gorgeous kirin and dragons and fewer awesome fans to chat with. Thank you windstone!!! Happy birthday forums!!
It’s really reassuring to hear other, more experienced users offering their stories about their experiences with the ebay auctions. I wonder if in general now that the store seems to be producing items more regularly if in general things won’t stabilize overall more. Not to say that OOAK or limited edition items aren’t worth some extra money, they truly are, but the greedy part of me that wants to have *many* lovelies instead of just a few would like that more.
In any case, I’m definitely going to have to exercise moderation, or at least be picky/choosy as there will always be more lovelies, and it’s nice to know I’m not the only one that feels like that’s not a terrible strategy from the sounds of it…
Oooh. For some reason I thought these were limited edition, not limited production. My bad! That’s a good explanation of the difference, though. And it makes sense… dragons stored/not selling means space that can’t be used for dragons that will sell.
I’ll have to keep that in mind. I guess for most (general production) things, it doesn’t probably matter as much, but limited edition and especially these blue morphos just keep flying off the shelves.
Windstone doesn’t kid around when it comes to this limited business. ;p I wonder how many they will make total. It would be kind of cool to know how many get made and are in available in the world. Ie: number 20 out of 50.
I don’t think people usually bid to drive the price up. But sometimes, when a piece has not drawn as many bids as expected, I will take another look and think “Heck, I would pay X for that piece.” and make a bid after all. Occasionally that bid is enough. I have gotten a few “accidental Windstones” that way, so the other side is don’t bid unless you can afford to win the piece!
Okay, that makes way more sense. I probably just read Kim’s response wrong, but it had sounded to me like it was more a case of wanting to keep the value of the koirins high for the sake of high-priced things. Which, I mean, don’t get me wrong I definitely don’t want Windstone’s profit margins to suffer because people are getting good deals! But… just yeah.

I’ve tried using the ‘max bid’ thing with some success. Only when I was able to go insanely high. I want to try my skill at sniping. 😀 I’ll probably lose though. Haha.@siberakh1

I have the money and the desire and yet the notif went out at 3 AM again. Guess who is stuck looking at the ‘Out of Stock’ button? I’m starting to think that this is simply not meant to be. 🙁
Since Windstone is in the Pacific NW, it’s likely most notifications will go out between 3 am and 6 am as that is the time of day most things go into the store. 🙁 It’s unfortunately just the business hours!
I’m not blaming anyone really, them’s the unfortunate breaks of where I live. And no matter what time Windstone released stuff, I’m sure someone would be missing out; there’s fans all over the world I know, not just me. But, there’s been multiple times though when notifs and newsletters have hit about some sculpts hitting more like 5 – 5:30 am in my mailbox and not releasing until 6 or 7 am. That’s how I got lucky enough to grab the fledgling I *think* (and watched some others I didn’t want fly off the shelves). So I was hoping against hope.
I just have to wait and see if anyone puts one back. Either they haven’t all been purchased yet or the system is slow. In the case that this restock is well and truly gone, though, do you know if there are the last of the blue morpho laps Kiya?
Well this is super exciting!! More WIP photos is always a wonderful thing. And I’ve been dying of curiosity about the “family” so getting to see the other one (although it sounded like the baby was not made yet) would be really exciting, too. Thanks Kiya!

I only saw a close up of the detail work she’d been doing with the scales, iirc, because I remember we discussed whether not people wanted detailed scales or undetailed and I and at least one other person volunteered to learn to sand so we could have the PYOs faster. XD
