Images found on the internet are not always public domain unfortunately (in fact – they generally are not). In order to be able to use them you should either obtain permission from the person who owns the images or see if they have rules about usage posted on their site (a lot of people will).

Anything you create is automatically copyrighted under U.S. law – you actually have to go through something like Creative Commons and write up a release to give people the ability to use your work without asking. Even on the internet. 🙂

If you have a scheme you want to use images for without worrying about permission – you can use this page to help find public domain images. You should be able to easily locate public domain images of common things (like animals, landscapes, etc.):

I think it varies by which state you live in. I’m not sure it’s the case everywhere.

Having kids makes a difference too – it might be harder if you don’t have a family.

But still – kind of ridiculous.

I hear you on the system being messed up! I feed my family of four on about $250/month on groceries (groceries is everything except gas – includes diapers, light bulbs, cleaning supplies, etc).

I saw a rant from my SIL on Facebook about how the poor don’t get enough assistance on food stamps.

On a lark, I went and “pretended” to make minimum wage on the online “aid calculator” for our state. If I (and my husband) made minimum wage, we could get over $700/month in food stamps. Plus we would qualify for free health care through the state, a housing subsidy, and reduced day care costs through different programs.

If one of us wasn’t working at all, the benefits got even better!

It’s just crazy – I’ve worked really, really hard to get an education and a good job – and it turns out if I worked at McDonald’s I’d be better off…

Stupid question. I can’t figure out how you know when to hatch an egg?

And how do you hatch it?

If it’s anything like shipments I send out, that means that Windstone has printed the shipping label and may even have dropped it off with USPS/UPS, but they haven’t scanned it in and started active tracking yet.

                          Both are _technically_ right. 🙂

Oh and kiya, I wasn’t implying that you didn’t do research. I apologize if it sounded that way.

Oh, no, I was trying to agree with you! My dog would have been a MONSTER if I hadn’t know what I was getting into! As it was, we were prepared for all of his MANY tricks (and the fact he is about as obedient as a cat). We looked at Corgies too – but the herd dog thing turned me off – we’d just had a bad experience with a border collie. 🙂 I LURV Corgies though… just not a great fit for our life style. (Shibas are lazy-ish and don’t mind that we’re not super awesome about daily walks…)

                            His name is Gunji.
(His name isn’t “Gun”-ji. It’s a deep U. Almost more like “Goonji” but more U than O). Japanese word.
                            10 weeks old.

Oh, oh, oh, he is the CUTEST THING EVER!!!!! *grabby hands*

Being a moderator is SUPER hard. Especially when it’s for something you love – then negativity can be harder to deal with. ***HUGS** to Jennifer! We miss you!

I promise there will be more quests and that we’ll do our best to get as many people involved as we possibly can. Please be patient while we learn how to build this program so that it’s the most fun possible for everyone. 🙂

And, once again, if there are improvements you would like to see or contests you would like to have run, please feel free to put forward your ideas. Quest number 2 is in the planning and it’s based on a forum member’s suggestion, so I promise I’m listening and will pass ideas on to the Windstone folks. 🙂

I believe that is just a mis-labeled, Old Brown, Emperor.

But, he seems reasonably priced and in good shape – if I had money I’d buy him 🙂
