Well I got about as lucky as one can get… my mom decided to give me the money for my b’day a bit early (My B’day is the 30th) and in perfect time that I was able to snag 2 more arctics before they sold out (they were gone minutes after I completed my order!) I got them on Monday, but have been running around crazy like and haven’t gotten a photo of them! But when I loaded this thread earlier, I glanced the store photo from the beginning of this thread and noticed that I’m mostly certain one of mine is in it! πŸ™‚

So, I’m not 110% sure, but I think one of mine is this lil cutey!

There isn't a lot of detail to compare to, but what little there is, mine matches up πŸ™‚ and I LOVE him! He's different enough from my near black one that I am happy as pie to keep them both!

and this isn't the one I have, but mine is darn near identical to this one so I figured it was a good example of what I got πŸ™‚ Until I get photos of my own to show off!

I’m also in love with this lil one, and currently not interested in trading.. I’m adoring my two super dark foxies and my near white baby! πŸ™‚

How come nobody told me these were so FRIGGEN CUTE!!! I was hoping for a dark coloured one, and that is just what I got! Thank you so much Melody! Thank you Windstone staff!

He insisted on using the packing peanuts as snow…instead of me taking him outside in the real snow!

Here are my red foxes (several weeks late, but I’ve been busy) Their colors contrast nicely with each other.

I’m pretty sure we are just seeing a lot of grab bags at the moment because a lot of new sculpts are being introduced. I know if I had a new sculpture I’d test paint a bunch of ideas before settling on a production color, so with all these new pebbles, colts, poads, etc. I have noticed, once the grab bags make their debut, production colors HAVE been following. Example with the Grab Bag Mini Keepers, Colts, and Tad Poads that have been coming out in production/limited production colors now that the introduction of the new sculpture has come and gone. I don’t think we should discourage Melody’s creativity if she wants to paint a few grab bag batches first to see how she wants to release the sculpt in the future. It’s impossible to make everyone happy, and though the holidays are coming up and we all have limited money, we can also request them as gifts as well. Just my 2 cents about it. I’m pretty tight on money myself right now, but I still look forward to grabs bags as much as ever. I’m pretty confident the seemingly LOADS of grab bags will die down and production colors will come out secondary to the sculpt initial introduction. ^_^

Interesting point. I thought Melody said that she is trying to have one Grab Bag a month, but maybe you’re right.

Pretty much the entirety of what I was saying/agreeing to was in response to the comment Mel made about wanting to get a GB out a month, which leads me to think she will keep doing this beyond the release of new sculpts..
What DragOn has said makes perfect sense if Mel is enjoying what she is doing (I’m more worried about burn out) and also makes perfect sense that the volume of GB’s recently released are new sculpts…
I do find it very fun to get new sculpts in GB’s, and good for Mel because she can test paint ideas for production line and actually have a productive place to put those test paints… and have some fun filling in the rest of the volume for a GB batch…
Also makes me feel better knowing the leftover in the store are what Mel intentionally made in excess, not that the demand has gone down, just the numbers of how many being done have gone up..

I personally realize production line arctics, reds, wolves etc etc are probably not happening yet because production painters are working on snow white uni’s, jet black uni’s, MK’s, Blue Morphos etc.. I’m sure the pebbles in production colors are in the queue.. they’re just not at the front of the line yet.. because though many here want the pebbles, lots in other portions of the forum wanted unicorns, and morphos.. and I can only imagine how hard it is on Mel, and Windstone in general to try and keep up with the overall demand everyone has.. trying to keep them balanced.. This is in part where I worry about the monthly GB release, (I would think) Mel would get stressed with an absolute demand for a GB every single month.. on top of the demand to design a new uni color (or whichever sculpt it may be at the time).. on top of the demand for new sculpts… She is, after all, one person! (I’m beginning to think Superhero, maybe? lol)

So I dunno.. Personally, I’m good with spreading GB’s out more.. but the final decision is Mel’s, and so long as she is having fun.. then more power to her..

I would agree with you except for three not-sold-out Grab Bags currently in the store (or two if you want to argue that 500 GB tadpoads never would have sold out). The Arctic Foxes and the baby Poads tell me that Windstone is exceeding their collector base and Grab Bags no longer bring the guaranteed infusion of cash that they once did. I cannot see that a longer space between Grab Bags would hurt people who want to have a special piece without paying ebay prices, and it might make it easier for them to get one.

I believe that Windstone has considered the social aspects of trading Grab Bags to be part of the whole “Grab Bag experience”. It sounds as though more frequent Grab Bags have made that less enjoyable also.

As a side note … Melody does most of the painting of Grab Bags, which means that she has less time available for sculpting, and I’m not sure that is a good long-term trade off either!

              ^^ That

Here are my special little group of grab bag arctics! I just got the toasted marshmallow one in the front in today. πŸ™‚ The two in the center and one on the left were all ones I got in from the store and the one on the right I purchased from another collector. I’m still looking for a dark black-grey one to complete my collection. If you have one available that you’d be willing to let join my arctic pack, please give me a holler! πŸ™‚

Is it bad that I’m trying to figure out which red foxes you have in the background? lol
The arctics are very cute, though! Nice catches πŸ™‚

Man, I want another one of these so badly! Darn bills being paid and not having any funds left over! (At least my bills are paid, though! heh)

In my view, Grab Bags are not as special as they used to be. “Oh boy, another Grab Bag!” is shifting to “Oh man … another Grab Bag …” which is sad. I would much rather have production color red foxes, bat eared foxes, arctic foxes and wolves than have these pieces as Grab Bags (and this is even though I have accumulated a number of Arctic GBs).

However, it sounds as though most people are not suffering from Grab Bag Fatigue.

I do agree with this… I haven’t been absolutely butt hurt lately because I have been waiting for the pebble foxes for ages, and super excited for them.. but if Bat Eared or Wolves come out in Dec, I likely won’t be able to buy one.. and that is a sad deal! Cause I really do want to get them in GB’s! But with the Holidays and all I have spent lately on Windstones, it’s a very realistic issue… and I don’t think I’m the only one facing this…

Personally I think a GB batch every 3-4 months would be great! They’re still special and fun then, Mel isn’t stressed painting them, collectors can recoup funds! and I can regain some sanity between batches with the whole trading portion of it (Which is a large part of the fun of GB’s, the trading.. but my goodness, I have been working with foxes only and I am burned out!) – I know Mel is trying to break up what the sculpts are.. but sadly, some of us like to collect everything o.o .. and that is very problematic with the wallet! Not to mention.. the very real issue many of us face, and that is not wanting to pry from the pc because we’re worried we’ll miss a GB batch, it would be very nice to go a couple months without needing to worry for 3 weeks in a row if I’m going to miss a GB batch or not, heh… lately it’s been “Yay I caught this one!” … *one week later* .. “Am I going to miss it?! or do I have time?! Someone ask Susie!” *50 people FLOOD Susie with questions about the GB’s* – I found it quite sad that I was really quite relieved when I decided to not try for a Baby Poad… I had one week where I was on Poad watch for a friend, and when she came back, I stopped paying attention to everything that had to do with them… I just needed to not think about them…

I really think Dec, and maybe even Jan should be skipped for GB’s, just so we can all concentrate on the Holidays πŸ™‚ and those who want to buy Windstones anyway, have many to pick and choose from that are new production line pieces!!

I think a pebble big cat would be awesome. It could be painted so many different ways. They could be tigers, lionesses, cheetahs, leopards, my very favorite snow leopards, mountain lions. Would be kind of cool, I would think!

Complicated markings on something the size of a mouse? …oog. Makes my head hurt to think about it.
We need to develop a breed of simple ball-shaped animals that are all one color.
                    Silkie chickens! Angora bunnies!
Steif used to make little furball animals, they’d have the exact same shape for bunnies and chickens, just give ’em beaks or ears.

What about making a pebble big cat the size of the wolves? Would be very similar to painting the baby uni’s then..

Yes, if I do any future pebble things, they’ll need to be on the large side, so they can hold their own against the blast of air from the airbrushes!

haha! Yes, that does help! No more sculpts that run away from the air brush!
If you ever decided to venture down the big cat route.. he would look awesome if he mirrored the wolf πŸ™‚
