Thanks all, I appreciate the answers and tips! They will be super handy in the future! π
Also, I have another random question! What is your favorite thing to thin your paint with? I’ve heard water is a no no, so what is your preferred medium/whatever to thin out thicker paints?
I use Liquitex Gloss Medium
100% of the time I will clear coat before I antique.. I tried it once straight over paint and removed some paint in the process… clearcoating helps prevent that from happening. As for applying straight over bare gypsum, as everyone pointed out, the gypsum will soak in the antique, thats what makes Windstones so fun to tea/coffee stain… If you’re trying to preserve the gypsums white, clear coat first, probably not a bad idea to get a couple coats on it to avoid missing a spot π
I would say try a jewelry cleaning cloth… it’s real gold plating on the horns, so it *should* clean and polish up the same as gold jewelry would.. I wouldn’t do a liquid anything, as I have no idea how that would affect the paint if it dribbled, but you can get a cleaning/polishing cloth at Walmart/Target/Michaels/Hobby Lobby… at the least, that is where I would start if I had a horn that looked like this..
Thanks guys! π
The wolves really are worth it! I’m excited to see new ones π though these guys will always be my original “6 pack” lol
Well, I was really hoping to photograph my pebbles today! as I finally got (almost) all of them under the same roof (Minus my wolves – my collection is balancing between the apt and my families house – helps a ton that a BAD roomy finally left! and I don’t have to worry about my collection any longer! Doesn’t help that I don’t yet have the shelving space for my whole collection, lol) but it decided to be a gloomy and snowy day… Which wasn’t in the weather forecast I looked at yesterday, lol.. Thank You Colorado! XD So photographing the rest of my pebbles may or may not happen today, lol
So, since I don’t have my wolves with me, and I don’t imagine I’d get a better photo of them anyway (and I’ve been wanting to post here for a while now)… here is my wolf collection! π
These guys are my faves! I feel truly fortunate to have these beauties in my collection π
(fun note: the brown one, bottom middle, has one gold eye and one blue! – He’s king of my pack! my #1 fave of all of the wolves!)
Mel is the best! <3 π That is awesome! I can only imagine this one rapidly became the prize of your collection π
Aww! Such a precious photo! π
Aww, that’s so sweet! I’d love to see a picture of the uni, if you have one!
I’ll PM you the photo π
Aww! <3 Thank you so much for sharing the story! That absolutely made my day π I'm so happy everything turned out so well! and it's a gift all its own to know it made her so happy! <3
I had a very nice Christmas spent with family and my boyfriend π
Annnnd.. now I just want to hug you! haha π
Great collections! π I’ll have to get a photo of mine posted when I finally actually get photo’s of them all (and maybe stop trading around, lol!!) but I’m loving seeing peoples collections! π
Awww, I love how soft he looks! Is he in acrylics?
Thank You! π and yes, this one is painted in acrylics π
A lil quick photo of my most recently finished piece π
This one was painted for a friend, modeled after the cutest dog name Tsune! (Seemed very fitting to put on a Kitsune) I’m so happy with how she turned out! π
I will get better photos tomorrow, before I ship this lil one to her new home! But I wanted to share tonight! hehe
for my .02, I’m actually now looking forward to seeing production pieces.. I like how the AWD thing went too… it seemed very fun to know what you’re getting, but still get a variation among them..
I am extremely so looking forward to normal red foxes… I’d like to see grey red foxes, but unsure if you wanna do that just yet because there were so many in the GB batch…
I’d LOVE to see maned wolf pebble wolves in production! (I just love that rich red and black color combination) I personally probably wouldn’t go for a normal grey, unless they’re somehow much different from the GB ones.. but I’m sure many people would be very happy with normal greys as well… if there were a way to do a black wolf, with some greyish details on them, so they’re not solid black, I’d go absolutely bananas over them! π pearly white ones could also go over well well, I think π (I have so many ideas for the wolves, they’ve remained my fave sculpt! lol)
Normal colored Bat Eared foxes are also high on my personal wishlist πI’m excited to see the new gothic uni’s… but they can take their time π hehe! I really hope I’m not flat broke when they come out!
Haha.. oh! XD
Someone is definitely trying to pull wool over peoples eyes and likely screw them…
That’s a Sandicast… and from what I can tell, worth about $20… (Yay Google)
