Melody, you’ve done quite a few critters in the AWD scheme now… have you considered sculpting an actual African Wild Dog for your next Pebble animal??
I’ve loved them for years, and you seem to really enjoy their colors, so… just an idea!
Maybe not next, but I certainly want to!
YAAYYY!!! SO EXCITED π

β #224 KOI GB '22 Young Qi'LinToday has been a dreary day, and while I love the rain, it just wasn’t good for my mood. I couldn’t sleep last night, and got less than 4 hours of sleep before I had to drive two hours to LA for an appointment.. for anyone who doesn’t know LA traffic, it sucks.. and, well, nobody showed up to the appointment, but me.
So I wasted half a tank of gas driving south, which I hate, and back home again. I swung by the Post Office before coming home, because there was a pick-up slip in my mailbox this morning. I received a perfect square box, wrapped in that brown paper, with no return address. Just my name and address labeled in the middle. Sitting in the car with this conspicuous box on the passenger front seat next to me, I wonder what it could be, and who it could be from. Upon opening it, I recognize the Windstone stamp at the upper-left corner. The shipping label had been torn off, so I still didn’t know who it was from. I open the box, to this stunning African Wild Dog Sitting Red Fox with a note that reads “Because I can, and you can’t stop me”. Needless to say, I was super ecstatic, calling my boyfriend out on his sassy note and thanking him for the gift… he knows how much
I obsess over AWD things.. and I guess he saw the Grab as a perfect opportunity.A HUGE THANK YOU to Melody for painting these. This pattern is exactly what I would have hoped for if I’d been able to participate in the Grab, myself! And here he is, in all his foxy glory… π

β #224 KOI GB '22 Young Qi'LinI’m really sorry to hear about your mom’s dog, Betrluk1!
Are you referring to amputation as to remove his entire “thumb”? Dogs are amazing animals,
and as long as infection and too much scar tissue didn’t set in, he should be fine. πMy sister’s dog, Atticus, is a Blue Heeler [Australian Cattle Dog, Queensland Heeler, Hall’s Heeler — however you wanna call them], and his dew claws were removed the day of his birth. He still has all four of his “thumbs” on his paws and his feet, since it was just the claw removed. I always talk to him about his “toe tufts” because the fur over-top sticks out a little bit. He just turned 9 on the 3rd.
I know how it is to have a dog who didn’t have their dew claws removed when they were born. Lulu, also a Blue Heeler, had hers removed when she was 4 months old. The same time she was fixed. She only had dew claws on her paws, not her feet. The vet had to amputate both thumbs, because the claws had set into the bone, and it was no longer possible to remove just the claws themselves.
She passed away early 2012 at age 10.βββͺβ FOREVER SEEKING β’ββ’

β #224 KOI GB '22 Young Qi'LinI’m so jealous of all of you folks’ snow! I’d take it all if I could. I’ve been desperately waiting for fall to arrive and it’s nearly here, but summer keeps trying to hold on still. I actually get summer depression. I’d prefer -20ΒΊF anyday over the 80’s. If I could live somewhere where summer only lasted a month at most, I’d be happy as could be. One of these days we’ll eventually get the chance to move further north. It’s something I look forward to with anticipation everyday.
It’s actually cool here in Cali today… in the low 60’s, and we’ve still been hitting the 80s+ most days. I, too, have Summer depression. Autumn/Winter are my favorite times of the year! My boyfriend and I are seriously considering eventually moving to Northern Oregon/Washington.. maybe even farther. I love BC.
Being curled up in a large, comfy chair with a hot mug of my favorite cocoa [mint, pumpkin or raspberry] and a good book next to a roaring fire, wrapped in my plushy blanket… or cuddled up next to my boyfriend.. is only one of my favorite things about cold weather.
You can always put more layers on! Can only take so much off before you’re wearing nothing at all, and you’re still too hot and risking injury.

β #224 KOI GB '22 Young Qi'LinI’d prefer people to be open from the beginning by bidding to show their interest and what they’re thinking of spending on it, and then if you feel like putting in a bid and then maybe a higher one, you can. Like traditional bidding. It gives you time to figure out if you want to or can spend more, and also, it may be impossible for some people (especially those of us without smartphones) to be online at the time bidding ends. I don’t think people should have to plan their lives around being online at the precise moment to have a chance for that. I don’t see how that’s considered easier than bidding at your leisure.
If I sounded butthurt in this post, well, I’m not really. Those are my thoughts but my feelings on it aren’t particularly strong, and it doesn’t affect me much since I usually don’t have the money to bid on much of anything anyhow.
eBay used to have a snipe-neutralizing option for Sellers to list their items with. If that box was checked, the Auction would extend another minute until no more bids were placed. This option was no longer available when I signed up in January of 2006. I did watch my father bidding on items in ’04-’05 when this was still in effect. Personally, I think it was good that eBay removed that option, because anybody who really wanted the item might have ended up playing “bid tag” against someone who was just driving up the price for kicks. There seemed to be less of a commitment back then, and Sellers and Buyers who were legitimate lost out.
I don’t know for certain, but it’s what seemed to be the cause of the changes eBay implemented by the time
I had an account. I’m sure someone who’s been active on eBay since the early 2000’s would have a better perspective of this. Mine is based on watching auctions my father participated in, or was considering to.As for being online when the auction ends, if you really want the item, you’ll be there either way. Whether you started bidding when the auction was first posted, or if you’re considering to snipe in the last few seconds. Like I said in a post on the previous page, there were times I missed out on the auction completely, and wished I’d placed a bid earlier in the day, but that hasn’t happened often enough in my near ten years for me to change my bid tactics. Only a few times, really. There was only one time that I missed out on an item that only came available once in awhile, and it sold for a price that was ridiculously low. Was really kicking myself then, but that’s the game we play on eBay. It’s all a matter of being present when the time’s right, and a lot of luck. Luck, for example, is if someone just so happens to glance at your wishlist, happens across an eBay listing for an item from it, and is willing to let you know about an auction you would have otherwise missed completely because the keyword for your saved search wasn’t in the auction title. I’m still incredulous at that stroke of luck, and extremely thankful to that person.

I didn’t want to risk further damage to him even though the Seller was reputable in their boxing methods.I once messaged a Seller about two Peacock dragons, an Emperor and a Scratching, and offered to pick them up. That would have been a 100 mile round-trip, or about 1.5 hours. That sale didn’t work out.

β #224 KOI GB '22 Young Qi'Lin*shouts from the rooftop* PRODUCTION MOSS DRAGONS!
We have seen many vividly bright jewel-toned dragons (shell pink, aquamarine, lavender, violet flame, amethyst, etc.), and I feel like Fire Berry would be more of the same. I agree with JynXx, I would absolutely love to see a more naturalistic green color scheme. There has been a dearth of green dragons for a while. If I recall the Windstone color schemes correctly, the last one to feature green in a significant way was emerald peacock, and that’s more blue than green.
Sand is a lovely color, but I understand that it is tricky to paint and therefore probably not suitable for a production color. Perhaps a new brown color scheme could be done, something predominantly brown with some foresty green markings, similar to the recent Earthen Fey young dragon we saw on Ebay. Based on the high selling price of that piece, I would say there is a healthy market for that sort of coloration.
=Joins Bullsquid in the Shoutout for LP Moss Dragons=
I totally forgot about those other colors.. lol.. and yeah, Aquamarine, Lavender and Shell Pink, etc.. they all look like toys. Shell Pink less than the others, but still. Fire Berry could be more of the same if painted a certain way. Right now, it’s very pretty, but I know the scheme will be altered somewhat if chosen for LP, like I’d already said.
And OMG… I’m ALL for a spin on a new Brown cross scheme based off Sand and Kaleigh’s Earthen Fey!!

A coiled mother dragon would also look very pretty in Sand.
Yes, they are quite the family, and will likely be on my wishlist forever xD The picture I posted actually are Windstone’s pictures of the Blue Fawn Ki’Rins. I just used GIMP to put them together into one photo [sizes approximated — I think the Mother is a little big, and will adjust later] to save space. I agree that a Coiled Mother Dragon would look gorgeous in the Sand color scheme β₯β₯
