So apparently, some of the Peacocks are indeed no longer in stock at the Factory. Karen could confirm but I don’t see any reason why Bella would have misinformation.
Re: more than half the stores not carrying Windstone anymore… this is a big problem all across the nation. π A reminder for the new board members, if you give Windstone a lead on a new retail store for selling Windstone pieces and they start carrying them, you can get a free Windstone piece from the factory! It’d really help them out a lot! π

My art: featherdust.comWolfenMachine wrote:I THINK Ebay charges you depending on how high you set your reserve, plus they charge you a final value fee(a percentage of what your item sells for) they charge an insertion fee of $1 or $2, and I think they charge you on how high you start your bid, even with a reserve. I know $0.99 and under is free or maybe $0.01, and over $50, its something like $10 or $20. I dont know why anybody sells on ebay. Then paypal charges you to receive money….the whole thing is a scam, if you ask me.
That’s just how they make their money. They’re up-front about it, so why would it be a scam? You’re paying for the service of having a customer pay you INSTANTLY instead of waiting weeks for a check or money order. It’s cheaper than setting up a merchant account with a major credit card company and they offer nearly the same thing. π
People sell on eBay because there is no place out there like it. There are other auction sites, but very few are free, and eBay gets the biggest audience by far. When you create a listing on eBay you are basically setting up a temporary web site, which uses space and bandwith on their servers. While I grumble about the fees being too high, I realize that they have to charge something to pay for all their equipment, staff, and bandwith.Volunteer mod- I'm here to help! Nope. Did you see it while you were at the Factory? I’m always curious of what people think of my pieces in person.

My art: featherdust.comWe (our family) have four cats now, and the family has owned at least two cats forever. None have been declawed and we’ve never had a problem. It’s like the folks that de-bark a dog, it’s usually 100% unnecessary and just stems from people having an animal they should not. If you don’t want a cat to possibly claw your furniture- for goodness sakes don’t get a cat. If you don’t want a dog barking at inconvenient times once in a while then don’t get a dog.
I know it’s not that simple, and a lot of us rescue animals that we didn’t necessarily ‘ask for’. I totally understand that situation but with a little effort we can get around the problems. It’s usually a pain but if you trim your cat’s claws regularly even if they do scratch it’s not as harmful. They also make plastic caps you can glue (these are totally safe, they’re like fake fingernails) over the tips of the cats claws, which make them blunt and smooth. Getting them ON the cat requires two people and it’s NOT fun, but no one said that owning an animal was ALL fun! π
There are several other products out there that help prevent scratching. There are sticky sheets you can put on the cat’s favorite spot to claw that they won’t like the feel of. Also, provide an alternative or 3- get ’em scratching posts, if they don’t like those try the cardboard scratches, etc. This combined with training can prevent most incidents. πI will totally agree with Nirvanacat on keeping your cat indoors only. Please do! π

um, no, *g* surprisingly. We owe it to made in China products and also those really bad pinkish fantasy posters you find around in every store. Or that cutesy that makes you wanna get sick. The artists representing the subject are often really bad, not in the sense of qaulity always but in general art and giving the thing life understanding.
As for dragons in Switzerland, i am slowly collection ideas and stories and designs for dragons(and creatures) . Currently I am doing most of my ebay dragons and critters based on that idea, which is why all my ebay auctions for the figurines have these loooong stories. Many of the ideas are actually based on childhood stories.Oh it’s the same over here.. market is flooded with poorly made imports from Chine, Singapore, etc. We’re just fortunate to have Windstones! There are few others these days.

My art: featherdust.comI’m really impressed- most web servers are not nearly so through and informative about their service interruptions. Thank you!
Good luck on running on your backup UPS… what sort of units do you have over there?

YEah, sounds like the pommegranite is oxidizing! Mmm pommegranate. So tasty!
He looks really neat by the way. Do you think he’ll be able to stay like that? Organic dyes, when used in fabrics, usually need a chemical reaction to ‘set’ them… I dunno what would happen on a gypsum sculpture like what you have!

My art: featherdust.comThose I’m not sure of. Those are the kinds of things John would have to answer, I think. If you can wait a few more days for him to return home I’m sure he’d be glad to help you out. His email is John ;AT; windstoneeditions.com
That’s a grey area that hasn’t really come up yet as far as I know. If there’s a chance the item will ever see a market (like eBay down the road?) it could cause a problem that way perhaps.
dragonmedley, I don’t think your silver dragon is in violation. Our friendly mods really can’t let anything that might infringe into the Official Galleries (though as a disclaimer they can miss stuff sometimes, we all make mistakes) and since your silver dragon is there then you should be okay, but to be safe you should probably check with John since he’s the Authority on this; especially since you are doing one for money. π

My art: featherdust.comAs far as I know (and I’m not an exprert!) it’s okay to resell PYOs as long as you don’t copy or get really close to a production color or color scheme, and you don’t make it your profession/business. By business I mean the sort of person that sells them so frequently as to make their income off of Windstone- this is considered retailing the pieces I believe.
Not that it’s a problem though since there are still limited quantities of PYOs! π
You are also not allowed to misrepresent the piece or claim rights to it. I doubt anyone here would do that.Basically this means if you give credit that the sculpture is a Windstone Edition sculpted by Melody Pena, that it’s a PYO (not a production piece), you don’t copy an existing color scheme, and you aren’t selling dozens and dozens… you are okay! π

It was a 4 alarm fire, total loss. It started in the apartment downstairs. My room mates and I where the innocent bystanders that lived upstairs. Scott one of my room mates said he say my female in perfect condition but as soon as he touched her she turned to dust right in front of his eyes. I only had 2 at the time so I was able to replace them right as the brown retired many years agoAh, yes… if the heat of the fire does get too high the gypsum will turn to powder. That’s why Melody advised another member not to try firing their PYO in a kiln. I’m sorry for your loss!

Do you know if this actually is a problem for the big Rock Dragon as well, even though its already in production? I think that piece is almost as heavy as the Secret Keeper…its at least 30 lbs…
I don’t know… but they’ve been retailed so either it’s not a problem, or they don’t care. π
They did underestimate the costs on it though and they may have been losing money. That’s why the smaller rock dragon is almost as expensive… they obviously didn’t want to make that mistake twice. I don’t know all the inner workings of Windstone Finances unfortunately. π
Also something to keep in mind is that the rock dragon is concrete, perhaps they anticipated less of them being returned as they are much harder to cause damage to? We all know how easy it is to get paint rubs or chips on the gypsum Windstones (which could potentially cause them to be returned), but this may not be as much of an issue for the concrete pieces. I don’t know- it’s just a thought. πVolunteer mod- I'm here to help! Email me for the best response: nambroth at gmail.com

Eh? When I click on the link I get the emperor dragon anatomy sketches (file 49 in Melody’s gallery)… βWeird! Try clearing all your personal data from your browser and click again? Depending on the browser you use, it will store internet data in temporary areas of your computer. Mostly this includes images, so that it doesn’t have to load them each time. If the last time you accessed that part of Melody’s gallery was before she uploaded new pieces, the URL may be the same, but for a different gallery page, but your computer thinks it’s still the old one. Kinda confusing, but computers always are!
If all else fails, the image is located directly here:
