Maybe it’s our own fault because we saw all of the unis in the live stream and it didn’t occure to any of us to request the natural safaris be put into its own seperate grab bag batch.
When the June/July 2014 Youngs were announced, there was some discussion about whether or not they would be in two separate batches because there were definite divides between people who absolutely wanted a fantasy uni and people who absolutely wanted a safari one. I may be remembering incorrectly, but I believe that we were told that it would be too much work to separate them. Whatever the reason, they were not separated into different batches and perhaps that is why they weren’t for this batch either.
I believe that if they knew enough people wanted it, they would work something out for it in the future. The only problem is that there are certainly a lot of unis that could straddle that line between fantasy and Safari, so which uni would belong to which batch? For example, Briar Rose is undoubtedly a safari uni except for the flowers on his neck, so does that mean he’s a fantasy? Are safaris strictly natural colored unis and fantasy strictly “unnatural” colors? Do fantasy colored feathers on the back of an otherwise naturally colored uni make the uni a fantasy? There are certainly some extremes, but that may be another factor in why it would be difficult to split them into batches. If Melody didn’t have 2 batches in mind when she was making them, I can see why a lot of the features fade over from a safari look to fantasy look.
Again, I think if it concerns enough people it should certainly be a question that we ask 🙂

Sib, your unicorn is so unique and cool! I love it when melody paints individual hair pieces like she did on his mane – it gives the design a ton of depth when you see one color flow “under” another. Lovely!

He was my 4th favorite unicorn from this batch, and I am SUPER excited to have him! I would only consider trading him for one of my top 3 favorite unicorns, and although I know my chances are pretty much none, I have made a trade ad for him in case any of the owners of those top 3 love Briar Rose.
His eyes are, I suppose metallic lavender, but it’s not the same as I remember getting for PYOs. They are almost a greyish color, maybe because there are so many metallic flecks in them! They are gorgeous in any case 🙂

This beauty was on my favorites list, so I am pretty excited 🙂 I thought she was a brown unicorn with some purple but she is actually almost entirely covered with color shifting paint! I think this type was dubbed “root beer” because it does look brown in some lights, but she also shines purple and magenta and sometimes a little gold. Her feathers are non color shift, and are dusted with pink.She is absolutely gorgeous and I am very likely going to keep her UNLESS someone has one of my absolute top favorites and wants to trade one of those to me 🙂 I’ll make a trade ad for her in any case.
Her name is Andromeda!

If this is the case, and if anyone has a uni and is truly uncomfortable with sharing it for ANY reason, I am happy to host your pictures for you on my site (so no one can find out who you are by seeing it on your Photobucket) and posting the pictures for you in this thread. I give you my word that I will not EVER bother anyone to trade/sell their uni if they do not want to, and I think that forum people here can attest to that I would not do that.
Just an option for anyone who would like to share but doesn’t want people to know they have certain unis! 🙂 Just PM me and I’ll send you my email address if you don’t already have it.

As a reminder, I am looking for TWO images of each unicorn for this directory, one of each side of the unicorn where the unicorn faces left and right, as demonstrated in this image:
You do NOT need to send me a composite image like the one above, please go ahead and send me two separate images of both sides of the unicorn and I will put it together and add it to the directory.

It is really odd how often I have heard that sort of story. It is like, making you feel sorry for the dead artist would make you buy the piece or something! We have had people call our shop and ask if I was still alive!
Or maybe they think it gives the piece more value if there will be no more of them made? Then again, it depends on if they are selling them as being one of a kind pieces or as a production line I guess!
