Please visit My Webpage to see my art and PYO's that I've done in the past! It’s very rare that I get a grab bag straight from the store that I wanted as one of my #1s, but I about fainted when I opened my grab bag baby unicorn from the “leaf and lichen” batch in February of 2013 and saw this beauty. She was in the store picture and I was in love with her Christmassy feel and the adorable berries around her leaf. She’s one of the only grab bags that I have gotten from the store and never parted with 🙂
For those of you that know me, you’ll probably remember that I am a bit of a Poad addict. At one point I had 20 Young Poads (I have since slowly tapered them down both in anticipation of new Poad batches in the future, and because I am moving next year and may not have room to display them all!). However, of the Poads that I own, these are the three that I would be hard pressed to ever part with.
The first, who I affectionately call Alexander Sunsetface (don’t ask, I’m weird), was one of my #1 favorites from his batch (I know all Poads are supposed to be female, but some I just can’t ‘see’ that way. He may have female parts, but he identifies with the male gender!!). I love the precise and beautifully colored leaf and the sunset colors on his face.
The second Poad was one that I was lucky enough to win off of Ebay. She wasn’t cheap, but she was worth every penny. Teal is one of my favorite colors, and the pattern on her back is irresistible. At the time, the light teal metallic eyes were very rare to see, and they go just perfectly with her scheme.
The final Poad I would consider a “grail” piece was one that I didn’t originally think I was going to keep. But then when I got her in a trade, I realized just how amazing he colors were. I fell in love with her vibrancy, and the detailed nettuce design on her back. She’s now probably my #1 favorite Poad of all time. I can imagine parting with all of my Poads under some circumstance, but not her. I named her Alice.
I wasn’t sure how much I was going to like the Grab Bag Mini Keepers when I got one, but I ended up absolutely loving them. I got Frost in a trade. I fell head over heels in love with him when I first saw him, and my trading partner was amazingly sweet and did everything she could to make sure I ended up with him, and I finally did! Ember was a piece I got from (if I am remembering correctly) a blind trade, so she was mine straight from the store. At first, I wasn’t sure if I was going to trade her or not, but like Alice, she grew on me to the point where I cannot imagine parting with her any longer.

Please visit My Webpage to see my art and PYO's that I've done in the past! And a question that I can’t find an answer to; do I need to prime the piece or just a light wash to get dirt and oils off?
I have never primed any of the PYOs that I have painted, nor have I washed them prior to painting unless I have recently stripped an old paint job off of a piece. They come from the factory pretty darn clean, so the most that I have ever done is gently wipe a piece off with a very slightly damp paper towel (if it’s been sitting on a shelf and collected any dust).
If you do end up washing your piece, just keep in mind that gypsum soaks up water like crazy! If you wash a piece under a faucet you should definitely let it air dry for a few days to make sure that no water is trapped inside when you start painting – if it is, it can make for a forever-tacky paint job, and can ruin your hard work!

I agree with this completely! I think it worked out well, to have a limit of 1 right off the bat, and then a week later lifting it 🙂 Did it work well on the factory end?

Please visit My Webpage to see my art and PYO's that I've done in the past!jmoore, yours is soo cuute!! I actually was really hoping that I would not get a green cat in the mail because I thought I would like them the least, but yours is seriously adorable! Congrats 🙂
I got mine today, and he is a dragon/forest scene 🙂 I believe he is the only one of those with an orange sky. The dragon looks like he is trying to eat the moon! XD Although I LOVE the dragon, and I was hoping for a forest scene, I am not at all a fan of orange, so he will be going up for sale.
My boyfriend also purchased one, which I will be putting up for trade. They both have black bases and beautiful sparkles all over – the fish one has a lovely silver/magic sparkle paint splash behind it 🙂 They look better in person, but since it’s been raining all day I was unable to get some nice outdoor pics. I will remedy that as soon as the sun comes out 🙂
In any case, if you are interested in either of these please PM me to let me know!

I think the one in the right in my pictures is the smoothest, but they all have a bit of the sandy texture 🙂 I’m pretty sure the middle one has the sandiest texture, though its close between the middle one and the left one!
