So thrilled to see the whole dragon family in blue morpho coming out so quickly. If only my money could run as fast as the sculpt releases. :p Missed out on one of my fav. sculpts (Lap dragon), but fingers crossed for a future batch later this year. Can’t wait to see the lap dragon “in person” from the photo posts.

I posted a thread the other week with a similar thought about blue morpho, but with yellow-greens. Something like the old green dragons but with areas of yellow, yellow eyes, and gold accents. I’m not sure about the over all feeling of another green-ish dragon considering there are the old greens, emeralds, and a few stand alone green curlies like elven and serpentine. The current greens are nice, but not my taste as I don’t like the orange or red eyes with green. To each their own, right?

Also, could somebody fill me in on the issues with red fire? I didn’t know about Windstone until this year! RF has become my favorite color scheme next to blue morpho, but I keep reading little bits of info about how it didn’t work out and how that color, along with ruby, will never be made again. I wish I had known about red fires and Windstone back when they were in production. I’ve been trying to obtain my fav. sculpts (OW & Lap) in RF, but they’re either way out of my price range or too rare. Are they really worth 2-3 times their original cost? Seems like a hopeless endeavor. :(( Not trying to rant here, just an honest question. :~

That being said, I do like the orange monarch idea too. Wouldn’t it be cool to see a line of butterfly/moth color schemes in limited production? I’d imagine that would be labor intensive, but it’s fun to think about. Maybe a butterfly/moth grab themed grab bag would be easier. I’d like to see something done like a luna moth.

Maybe they’ll warm up to you over time? It could be they’re cautious because you’re the “newbie” and they can’t figure you out so easily. Maybe sit back and listen to the conversations, if there are any, then chime in when they say something you can relate with. Like if they start complaining about a husband, boyfriend, kids, bad movies, pay, etc., chime in with a similar complaint about your situation and how you can relate to them. People are self absorbed these days and they love to complain (tis my opinion) so if you can make it seem like you “care” about their situation, maybe they’ll start being more receptive to you later. I don’t know if it’ll help, but it’s worth a shot. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. At least you can say you tried more than they did.

Could top management be the source of the poo-poo attitudes everyone has? Also, for the most part, there’s always going to be that “one” person that’s a jerk to work with, no matter where you go. If you just can’t stand it, see of you can find another job.

Maybe take a look back. Can you think back to your early years at Home Depot? How did you go about making friends when you first started? What kind of conversations did you have with other people? See if you can remember something that will help with your current situation.

Looking at the blue morpho fledge and marveling over the color scheme I had a thought. Wouldn’t it be cool to see the same kind of pattern, tints, and shades done in greens? I know there is a line of green dragons already, but I mean greens more liken to the blues on the blue morpho with darks and lights. Turquoise or dark forest-y greens with black and gold accents. Maybe I’m just bias because forest green is my favorite color. XhP

I didn’t want to use green and blue together because it would look too much like the colors we have already have ( I agree, my favorite color too!)
The blue morpho scheme fit the bill: to have a basic blue color, but one that was distinctly different from our other colors.
I’ve done test paints that are similar to your description. A male griffin will probably be on ebay soon.

Ah, okay. I can’t wait to see that test paint. I bet it will be awesome as always. 🙂 I’ll be watching for it.

I was also thinking about just greens. No blues. Maybe avocado-like greens. Yellow-greens like the inside color of an avocado on the belly and the dark green of a ripe avocado skin on shoulders (kinda like how the blue morpho is with the blues and still keep the black on the same spots.) Or even leafy spinach greens? Hmmmm, time for guacamole! Sorry, if this has been done before. I still consider myself a newbie.

              Hi Melody

Are there any plans to do the curlies in BVP?
I know you’re all painting Blue Morpho everything right now, but my OCD would really like to see BVP curled dragons.
              Sometime. Eventually. No rush.
              Thanks.

Can I ask without sounding too stupid, what does BVP stand for?

              Black violet peacock 🙂

YAY! I’ve been waiting for a BM fledgling! Managed to snag one that jumped out of a cart. Shouldn’t have bought one, but it was there and I couldn’t resist. Even more broke now. :/ I’m betting more will be made eventually.

I have to agree about the HTTYD movie. Toothless looks okay, but the rest look like they were conceived by children then somewhat refined by the animators. It is technically a kids movie though. :p I must admit I didn’t like the plot. Still, I want to see the second movie when it’s out on DVD.

About filmmakers and believable Earth biology with mythical/magic creatures…it seems strange (to me personally) to make mythical/magic creatures believable for Earth-based plots. It’s fine for other world based plots, but I don’t want to see believable creatures in Earth based movies. I’d go outside for that. Uh, maybe I’m just weird. :/ True, a Pegasus would just look weird with two legs/two wings, but wouldn’t that be closer to believability based on Earth biology? I don’t see much variation or believability with oriental dragons either. However, I can definitely appreciate the time they put into believability. That being said, I do love all dragons and I’m fine with the two legged dragons (or wyverns). I just have a preference for the four legged/two winged ones. Maybe the mythical/magical creatures of Earth could be from another dimension. IDK

I love how Anne McAffrey’s made her own universe to explain four legged dragons. Love to see movies made from Anne’s and Naomi’s books, but I’m also afraid they might ruin them too, like they did with Eragon. Everyone made valid points about how current Earth biology wouldn’t necessarily support a vertebrate with six limbs. Though, that dracolizard Melody posted a link to looks pretty cool. The closest thing to a real Earth dragon.

Yeah, I think I’ve heard of four legs/no wings dragons called Drakes too…or Orientals. XD I’d like to see a four legged western dragon sculpt done with no wings. Not for necessarily for production, but just to see. Though, if it was put into very limited production, I’d likely buy one. 😀

Anyway, this is a fun topic to discuss!

Not sure if what I like falls under a strange guilty pleasure but…Haystacks. You can’t have just one (esp. if your a peanut butter or butterscotch fan) and they’re super easy to make. 1 cup butterscotch chips, 1/2 cup peanut butter, & 2 cups chow mien noodles.

                    Some other random sugar addictions…

                    Micro Soda Factory Brands
                    -Red Rock Cola
                    -Mr. Cola

                    -Peanut Butter Oreos
-Dirt Pie (Again with the Oreos!)
-Cheesecake (New York Style, not that Jello-y pudding-like stuff.)
-Almost any chocolate, but my top favs. are Dove and See’s brands.

Yeah, I have a ferocious sugar tooth but I’m good about controlling it. Kind of have to be or else suffer the sugary consequences.

My mom always made haystacks with one full bag of the little hersheys nuggets and a bag of fiber one cereal..so good…great way to get your daily intake of fiber! 😀

Hmmm, now that sounds good. I’ll have to try it!

After seeing these other pieces, I agree they might need some black on the tails. Never the less, they are gorgeous!

Welcome to the forum! I’m a bit new myself and don’t post often, but so far everyone has been super nice! I was hesitant at joining too, but finally did. The other forum members have happily answered my questions even if it’s something that’s been asked a bazillion times before. LOL

The forum definitely fuels the collecting habit. It’s a great place to find out what’s new and upcoming with Windstone too! Check out Melody’s blog once in awhile (under the community tab) for raffle prize opportunities and the quests for more prizes (when new ones are posted.)

                            Very nice artwork btw!

I’m not a spectral collector but I must say, this is such a beautiful color scheme! I’d love to buy a fledge, OW and Lap when/if they come out!

                                Drag0nfeathers-

My vote would be to complete the griffin family, then buy a spectral when they come back in stock since they will be making more. Personally, I feel like I have to complete my 3 piece “family” before buying something else, but that’s just my weirdness I guess. My dragon “family” consists of a fledge, OW, and Lap. Those are my favorite sculpts and I only collect dragons so I’m bias. XP

This is a cool thread. Can’t believe I didn’t see it before. Yay! Some interesting reading to do tonight. I love to learn about deep ocean and outer space topics. Although, sometimes it can be a double edge sword. The things distance stars and even our own sun can do to the Earth at anytime…eeeep! :~
