BD, I think it’s just your Muses. I mean others have painted very nice Muses, but yours just pop out there. 😉
i agree! 😀

😆 😆 that is so true! i bet they keep you busy (including the hubby). i’ve got just the one little monster (almost 17 months) and i don’t know how people do it with more than one.

I guess we all have our dreams!
Good for you Kalandra! Stay at home moms dont get the recognition they deserve. Its not a full time job, its a 24/7/365 job! How old is your little one(s)?
i thought i had my dream job… a senior graphic designer at a prestigious design studio in a swanky part of town designing for luxury hotels and resorts all over the world. then… it just became a job with all the usual stress, drama and whatnot. then i had my daughter and now work (still for the same company) from home as well as take care of her. its tough to juggle but i think i’ve really seen what my real passions and interests are. my dream job now would be to be a fantasy artist and get paid for it (of course). but, in the meantime i’m working on growing my own studio/freelance gig on the side so that i can quit my other job.
GB, in response to your question about if its better to be your own boss or work for someone… its always a toss up!! depends on how much stress and responsibility you want. lol, i think im a control freak so i have a tendency to lean towards doing my own thing.

I’ll sometimes have as many as 5 shades of the same color going at one time on my palette. (Side note here: I like to use baby food jars and lids as part of my palette when I’ve run out of room. They’re washable and easy to seal to keep the paint from drying too quick. ) 😀
I’ll add the second shade of color to the piece, then I just brush the edges where the 2 colors meet to blend. Part of the trick is to make the color changes in little increments. For me, that’s the hardest part–using the space I have to accomodate the changes I want to make. It’s particularly hard on the smaller pieces, sometimes because I want to make more changes, but I’ve run out of room. 😳 😀thanks for the tips! going to have to try that on my keeper… hmm..
thanks! i can’t wait to get started on my keeper… curious to see how scales turn out. fur and feathers didn’t seem to be too bad.
tasgrs wrote:Thank you! No airbrush; all hand brushed.
😮 😮 😮 No way, really?? Holy cow, that is very awesome. Care to share any trade secrets? 😳 I can’t get colors to blend for nothing.
Finally finished my first pyo. At least for now, time to move on to something else. Looks pretty much the same as the last update, but just added a little detail to the light fur and a ton of interference green over the wings (which I cannot photograph at all). 🙄 For some reason, my pyo’s wanted to be photographed by the pool (such a warm day, I guess) so excuse the mess, lol.
My next project has been a palomino unicorn that I’m painting for my mother. Palominos are her favs so it made sense to do one. Sorry for the lack of eyeballs in her but they will be green. and will be adding turquoise gemstones later.
wow! i love the colors… wonderful gradient! airbrush?

LOL.. yep. Couldn’t agree more.
that is awesome!
that is super cool purpleturtle! what did you use to sculpt him?

LOL 😆

February 16, 2010 at 7:26 pm in reply to: Prices lowered on Wolf Color Sitting Chick, Bat – Pg. 1 #798663oh MGutz… I would have soooo bid on the painting had I not already committed to buying the cat gargoyle from you! :shout:
i totally feel your pain though. i’ve been trying to get my own business off the ground for oh say… a year now. and man, it IS rough. i don’t even think i have to mention the economy. as far as the ebay sales thing, i think it just takes time. and some marketing and even maybe some research into what people buy and don’t buy. like jasmine’s work that you mentioned. wow can she crank out stuff. but it seems to be a niche market that she’s cornered and does it well. i really like your animal paintings… both the abstract and the realistic stuff. just have to keep trying and keep chugging along. i know how it feels. some days it sounds so much easier to just go down to starbucks and take orders for overpriced coffee, but you will be so much happier when you overcome these small hurdles and continue to do what you love to do. you have such a natural talent that it will come. promise! 🙂
by the way… if you need any help with marketing or getting your stuff out there, i would love to help!
