And here I thought I’d be able to save for a while…. Silly me!
I got my two tanukis in today and I feel so lucky I got two favourites, almost exactly what I was hoping for a purple/green one and a rainbowy butterfly one! I love them both! I almost want to get a couple more. I am pretty happy with these but would possibly trade the purple/green one for another favourite maybe with a more purple base or would buy one with a purple base if anyone has one to sell.
That one on the right is my absolute favorite! Wish I had one with a purple base to trade. Great grab!
Well this little looker turned up today! I completely missed her in the class photo, because she has some pretty strong glare on her in that shot. She’s got a lovely copper front and feet, along with some highlights on the back of her head. I am extremely pleased with her, but some of my favorites are still unaccounted for… So I will put her up for trade if one of the willowy ones I really adore are not to someone’s liking.
They are so lovely! My guy was delivered this afternoon, but I’m visiting family out of state this weekend. I can’t wait to get home and see what he looks like.
The class photo is under “Ask Melody” – last post on page 67 of the “What’s next on the schedule” thread.
Thank you so much! With this set, it’s not so much the colors that grab me (I love them all) but the patterning. I really like the ferns and scrolls over the branches and nets. But they are really all spectacular.
I am. SO. Excited! Placed my order seconds after receiving the e-mail. Seems like a ton of others are doing the same, as the site has slowed down considerably.
Edit: Natasha, where did you happen to find that class pic? I’d love to make a similar “favorites” picture.
Tanuki hype! I love the fern-y ones.
That black citrus OW looks way better in this pic than in the eBay ones!
Yea! I took him out of the box and couldn’t believe how he looked even more vibrant. I was having a bit of buyer’s remorse, especially after spending so much on the Kickstarter, but all of that disappeared when he arrived.
Wow! My collection is quite paltry by comparison but… here it is! I was tempted to wait until my kickstarter poads arrived but I grew impatient. The only one missing is my feather cat gargoyle, who is with my parents at the moment.
Can I take a moment to say how in love I am with this Old Warrior boy? I’ve never bid on a test paint before but I couldn’t resist. I’ve been wanting an OW but hadn’t seen a recent color scheme that struck me until him. I also had no idea the scuplt was so big until he arrived! I guess I never paid attention to the scale in other pictures. Not disappointed by it, though. Not at all!
I may have acquired one not yet accounted for. I think it’s the second row from the top, fourth from the left side. Not sure how to post pics anymore since Photobucket made a mess of things and you can’t post anything not your own art on Flickr anymore, though.
you don’t need to host your pictures elsewhere to post them here anymore….up at the top of the posting box, there’s a little box with what looks like to me a little mountain and a sun and that is an easy way to add any picture you have to post….
I’d love to see it, if you get a chance, Azurielle! If it is the one from the picture that you think it is, it’s possibly my favorite from the batch. I’ve been dying for some photos of ‘im to admire.
Oh, wow! The Ebay photos do no justice.
Sorry, the forum ate my post. Let me try this again:
Wise Windstone folk, can anyone tell me how detrimental sunlight is to a sculpture?
I have a curio cabinet where my modest collection of Windstones live (amongst other things). I’m going to have to rearrange some items once the Kickstarter rewards ship out in order to fit everything nicely. Problem is, I just received an old Peacock Male Dragon from ebay and there simply isn’t room for him in it at the moment. I was going to put him in one of the cabinets below the case until I figured out where to place him when my roommate suggested a shelf next to the entertainment center. It’s a safe enough spot (I’m not worried about him getting knocked over), though he will need a dusting now and again. My only concern is that the area does get occasional sun. I’ve always seen auctions specifying different pieces being kept in a cabinet out of the sun, so I’ve always done the same. However, I’m curious to know just how harmful it is these guys. I don’t want my poor old man getting damaged. Thanks in advance!
As an artist, I love watching other people work. It gives me ideas and helps me work out new techniques I may have never thought about before! Would it be boring? Maybe sometimes. But don’t underestimate the amount of people who like “quieter” streams because they really just want some background noise when they are working or doing something else. My boyfriend watches Train streams when he wants background noise. Just cameras streaming at train stations. You might be surprised at how many people watch these! In other words: I think it’s certainly worth a try 🙂
I agree with what Hannah said. And no one is necessarily locked in to watching the entire thing! I’m sure there would be people interested in seeing the stream from start to finish, but plenty of people could keep checking back just to see progress or wait for a part that interests them (airbrushing or detail work, etc). I also think it would be a great way to give people an appreciation for how much effort goes into creating the pieces.
What an overwhelming success! Congrats to the whole team for a fantastic effort!
$98,311 and one more livestream to go! It’s a cakewalk to $100K
