-J R R Tolkienooooookay…bad news! XD The, uh…the movers…took Alexander and packed him in the truck. Along with a few other things that we really needed to keep out. I obviously wasn’t being clear enough when I said to them that everything on a particular desk was to be left alone. T___T So he’s on the huge moving truck. Where he will undoubtedly either melt from the heat, be crushed utterly or get slung into the side of his box. No matter what, I’m sure he’ll come out looking a lot more interesting! XD I’ll be sure to take pictures.
Aaah well. Serves me right for taking so damned long to finish him!!! 😥

-J R R TolkienOoh, these guys were just for practice! 😀 And actually, they were great for that – I got some good results with the eggshells. I hope to do more like that in the future! But these particular three are going to stay home with me. 😉 The hatching empress might have been acceptable to get sold (though I think I could do better painting the scales next time) but the color scheme on her is too close to a color that Nam has already done. So no go!
So in short, hopefully you’ll see some real royal hatchers from me in the future, but these particular guys will never see the light of day! 😉

XD *pant pant* I’m ALMOST moved again!!! ALMOST STABLE…. I promise I’ll get it done soon-ish!! I crave more pieces by you!

AAAUUUUUGGG I’m dying!! XD Susie said the box arrived, but she didn’t open it yet…So I won’t know if they arrived intact until Monday at the earliest…. T___T

Did you give them eyes yet? 😀 The hatching emperor would look so awesome with the royal blue eyes.
I gave the hatching empress and emperor blue eyes, though I think it’s the middle blue, not the royal blue…I only had two choices in that eye size, blue or red. 😛

I have very good results with the craft paints. I mostly use Folk Art and Americana. When I started painting PYOs, I used Golden brand, but their paints are very translucent; in my experience they come out looking streaky and they are VERY difficult for me to blend. I do use their interference colors though – the interference paints are amazing. I will occasionally mix them into the base color of whatever I’m doing, though on these griffins I only used them to put shimmer on the wings and purple on the snow leopard griffin’s spots and feathers. Oh, and the beaks, too. Everything else is done with the craft paints. I’m really glad to hear you describe it that way – I think the richness comes from the MANY layers I put on…and also by adding a little metallic color to whatever paint mix I’m working with. 🙂
