After all the pretty pink in this guy, I really want to do an all pink griff for ski! ;D Hey, Ski – you want a pink griffin??
A pink griffin from you…hmmm… Um YEEEEESSSS YESSS YES YES YES YES YES… Did I say yes?
This guy is beautiful. I love your tabbys… but I think this is your prettiest yet. I am so excited I cant even type. If you knew how many times I had to hit backspace while writing this, you would laugh.
Heehee! Hmm…what eye color? baby blue?
(maybe I should ship this one with protective attack ninjas, frozen, in case Ski tries to highjack it in the mail…)"He that breaks a thing to find out what it is has left the path of wisdom."

LOL – I’m glad it worked out at all!! XD Like most of my griffins, I dove into this one without a plan…Just let the colors flow the way they wanted. I got pretty nervous about the face, and the weird little stripes on it…but it turned out alright, I think. (kinda made me want to put similar stripes on the butt, but stripes definitely weren’t really the point of this griffin)

Yeah, my original plan was to do it in sunset colors… but after the sunrise griffin turned out so bright, I’m not sure I would be able to paint it the way I see it in my head…they’re scary, these sunrises and sunsets!! They have great potential for botching.

something to compliment the eyes would be great….but what about a creamy color…
that’s my thoughts
Were you not a fan of the silver old warriors?? I thought those would have looked FABULOUS with lavendar eyes…

Aw, that’s right – you made one for her, didn’t you? I’m sure it wouldn’t mind a friend…
Maybe I’ll paint one and keep it for myself just to taunt her. 😈
It’s just such a nice delicate pearly pink that I mixed for your griffin…I want to use MORE of it!!"He that breaks a thing to find out what it is has left the path of wisdom."
-J R R Tolkienjumping in on this late –
I also hate mixing colors!! But I do it a lot because I’m too cheap to buy any colors besides the primaries. Except for interference colors – I’ve bought LOTS of those, now! 😈
When I feel lazy, I paint with my craft paints – those only cost like $1 each, so I do buy those in lots of colors. As nice as Golden brand is, craft paints can make a mighty nice griffin.I also have yet to find a nice, rich metalic red. I’ll have to check out some of the brands you guys mentioned.
As far as the pearls vs. interference colors – I use both, and sometimes I use both on the same griffin. I use pearls mostly when I want to make a broad area shiny, and interference for accents.
The sunrise griff I just finished is painted almost entirely in pearls with some interference accenting."He that breaks a thing to find out what it is has left the path of wisdom."

…if you happened to have a PYO dragon with lavendar eyes, what color would you paint it…?
I’m thinking silver…maybe silver and cream with lavendar accents…but I really want this one to be
PRETTY and GOOD…I really don’t want to mess it up…and I’d love to hear what you guys think.Keep in mind that it’s a very light lavendar that is easily washed out by surrounding colors. Not to say that I can’t have surrounding colors, but if I do they probably have to be pale.
Also, to save the office folks some strife – this isn’t a normal eye color! The only reason I got lavendar eyes is because Melody is too nice and let me steal them out of a paper cup. Feel free to bug her for lavendar eyes, as I would love to see more of them on her sculptures – I just don’t want you to think that I got them because I’m special – I was just plain lucky. And insistant. ^_^

-J R R TolkienDoes anyone have one of the light buttery yellow laps from the second batch that they’d like to sell? After seeing both versions in person, I think I actually prefer the buttery yellow version best…
If possible I would like to pay what they sold for ($230 I think? whatever the BIN was…) plus shipping…
Please post or PM me if you have one you’d like to sell…

Next up, a Kirin for Phoenix that looks like her pony, Frodo! 😀

This is all I know about it…
Edit: Here’s a better article in Wikipedia – 🙁 looks like the Sci-Fi channel won’t let us get it here until 2009 due to them holding the copyrights on it…blah.

hmmm…don’t know why the link doesn’t work. just copy pasta it I guess…sorry. It’s a decent article though."He that breaks a thing to find out what it is has left the path of wisdom."
-J R R TolkienP.S. I think Full Metal is only 51 episodes long…unless I’m missing a whole bunch…
And has anyone mentioned Chobits?? It’s a weird series with lots of sexual overtones, but despite that it’s so bloody CUTE and sweet and funny…
And after just having watched Fruits Basket again, I have to say that EVERYONE SHOULD SEE IT!! I really hope they make more episodes…Last I heard they were going to, but I’m not sure what happened with that.

Hey, nearly ALL of the Miyazaki movies are priceless classics. I think my favorite is Spirited Away…Princess Mononoke and Howl’s Moving Castle (SUPER AWESOME BOOK, as well as an animated movie) tie for second I think. I also really like The Cat Returns. ^_^ I watch it when I need cheering up.
I definitely highly recomend any Miyazaki movies – though many of them may be a little scary for young kids. I can see Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke being pretty traumatic for sensitive kids.
OOOOH I can’t wait till his next one…based on the Wizard of Earthsea…mmm…
