  • Oh thanks for the info Kim ! Thats good to know 😉

    Hello !

Nice introduction 😉 I myself am also a newbie to the forum, and I also dont feel like I fit in here much. Oh, and I also consider myself a female geek, although I think since Im older our choice in certain shows differ. I do enjoy most of the shows you mentioned, but I do prefer Bruce Lee over Clint Eastwood, lol! Oh, and halloween is my favorite time of year !! More so than Christmas! LOL!

From reading on the forum, I have come to realize there are quite a few of us on here who are geeky, gamers, and who are into sci-fi, anime etc. So I personally think you fit in here rather well!

Thanks for all the tips so far! From the sounds of it I may have used too much medium this first time— all good though 😉

I also have the Liquitex Iridescent Medium, so maybe I will give that a try next. I thought maybe the retarder was helpful as well, as this way maybe the paints I mix up will stay wet longer and therefor I can use it a few times on my piece if need be (stored in a little paint container)

I guess I wish I could “visually” see how watery peoples paints are when they paint with them. A video of someone mixing up some paint and then using it would be wonderful 😉

    Thanks !!

My very first fuzzy ! He jumped right out of the box nearly as soon as I opened it, and he was so helpful! He introduced me to all of my new PYO’s that accompanied him! I have named him “Spots” ! He has made himself right at home 🙂 He has even made friends with my Green Male Dragon, who I thought was more of a loner. Turns out I was wrong, as he adores Spots !

Your sunset dragon is stunning !! Your work is amazing, and I only hope someday I will be able to paint half as well as you! I love reading these threads…. thanks for all the great tips 🙂

Finally got my PYO sculpts today after waiting 2+ weeks, lol ! So exciting opening the box!

As you can see, my new fuzzy was just as excited as me to open the boxes! He wanted to help introduce his new buddies! He is also quickly making himself at home 😛

I’ve never heard of EMT bank transfers, so I googled it. Email Money Transfers, something done in Canada. Is that correct?

Yep, that’s it! It is free and there is no middleman fee, since it is just between the banks. The only downside for the buyer is that it is non-refundable.

My hubby uses it all the time, and I have a couple times, but I didn’t realize it might be Canadian-only. I should probably find out.

I use EMT’s all the time as well, a lot easier than using other services such as paypal etc., and a lot cheaper and faster then sending someone a money order or cheque. You must have a special account or a great bank to be able to do it for free though, as I have to pay $1.50 (to my bank) for every one I send or receive. I love it though, just like using your debit card almost, goes right into or comes right out of your account, and its secure to an extent- since they have to know the answer to the security question you provide with the transfer.

Oh, and they had to of misunderstood you to react the way they did… as it makes no sense !

Thanks for the tips Hannah ! I actually took my paint on gloss back to the store, and instead got Krylon Low Odor clear gloss spray on varnish. I feel much better about this decision, especially after reading your tips.

I also picked up a few more brushes, although these happen to have longer handles than the first ones I got, Im guessing they will still come in handy. I noticed a set of Golden fluid acrylics…. man they looked so awesome! Maybe someday I will get these as well, lol !

In the mean time I did buy a bottle of Golden Iridescent Gold (fine) , and was thinking this may be pretty for accents on some pieces. I was wondering though, what do people use to get that really nice gold shine to pieces such as horns etc? Im guessing the stuff I got isnt the same as this?

…. Still waiting on my parcel of PYO’s ….. any day now! I hate waiting… lol

The round robin paint job sounds like it may be fun, but I really dont think people would want to pay shipping to send it each time. Either way, thanks for the ideas 🙂

I believe your right, they seem to be a hard plastic material. They are hefty though, not light like cheap thin plastic.

And spray painting would likely work, but Im not about to spend a bunch of cash to buy spray paints, these guys are just not worth it 😉

No, they are not glazed that I can tell. And I also hate their paint jobs… one reason I had already given others away that I had. They are just homely because of the paint jobs…. I dont know what the makers were thinking- easy way out maybe?

I dont care about them, and would like to try repainting them.. but I dont want to ruin all my brushes and end up wasting paint on them either. Oh well, I will think about it for now, and stash them back away out of sight, lol !

I am enjoying my time without pets… but… the thought is always in the back of my head what I can have next, lol ! I been considering another aquarium, but maybe a goldfish this time. A pretty fancy one or two, in a large tank as I know these poopers need room, LOL! Or, maybe a snake… hrrrmm… LMAO! I do love animals <3
