Travistie’s right. EmPea looks awesome on the lap, but the scratcher looks much better in ruby. It does depend on the sculpt, too.

That is very true. Like other members have said, it also depends on the colors being used, blue, green, reds, etc. I’m really sold on the Em P. color since it has the best of both the peacock and emerald colors in one. Others might prefer the more “pure” colors. I think too, regardless of how many colors are being used, the blending of any colors makes such a difference. That’s why I choose 3-4 colors blended.

Well, I have been doing a bit too much shopping over the past month or two. I wanted to post as I got them, but then decided it would be easier and better to just do one large post.

I got the Cat Leaf Sconce from Enchantments when she was having her sale and the Amy Brown Fire fairy from Wolflodge100. Thanks guys!

I never realized how flat the cat is. In all the pics of it, it looks like it has a lot of definition, but it really is more like a relief sculpture.

I also won the IVEP lap and sitting spectral. I know not everyone likes the purple, but it sure brings out the color scheme more I think. The mouse wizard came from the Windstone store. (It looks like the mouse is telling the lap to ‘talk to the hand’)

I got one of the white sitting spectral from the Windstone store. I like it, but not as well as the IVEP. I like the white dragons, but it seems like something is missing on the spectral. It will probably take some time to warm up to it.

Well, I’ll not be shopping for quite some time. I hope everyone else keeps posting so I can see all their goodies.
            😀

Buyers remorse? More often than I would like to admit. 😕

I try to turn it into something useful rather than getting down about it. I have purchased a couple of Windstones and other other things that just didn’t live up to my expectations. I may have taken a hit for getting rid of them, but I try to think about where I went wrong and not do it again.

The other thing to think about is all the things you got for a really good deal, or that you really liked more than you expected. If you look at the bigger picture, you are actually ahead more than you think.

                Dragonessjade, what an awesome collection!!!

I really like how you have a nice selection of each genre (dragons, griffins, wizards, etc). I also like how you display your emps on the top shelf with that neat lamp and battle axe. Where in the world did you find the lamp??

And this may seem a little weird… but I really like the fact that all her dragons, griffins, etc. have glass eyes. For some reason… and I don’t know why… this is a huge treat for me! I guess it’s because so many other collectible companies and manufacturers use cheap plastic eyes on their items. I love the glass eyes and little crystals she uses. Just perfect in every way! I look forward to buying more Windstones for many more years to come! 😀

Thank you for mentioning that. I grouped that into why the details of Windstones are so great. Both of those characteristics make them so much more classy than anything else on the market.

That really makes me want to cry. How can the seller say that’s mint? I would ask for a partial refund at least. I would try for at least $50. I hope you do get a partial refund.

I’ve had the same thing happen to me a few times.

After looking at the photos, that is not very bad all (considering some things I have gotten off e-bay). Those are easy touch ups and it doesn’t look like there are any chips in the gypsum. It is not mint, but its in good condition. I think a fair price for one in that condition would be about $150. Of course everyone is different, so it maybe not worth that to you. I would second Romeodanny’s suggestion of a $50 refund.

The best thing is to let the seller know that you are willing to talk about a fair solution. If you need any suggestions on how to word a request, let me know. I would be happy to help.

I ran across this on the internet while surfing another topic. I think it is a good way to think of many things in our lives that we cherish, but could easily be lost ~ including our precious and breakable Windstone collections.

One day some people came to the master and asked: How can you be happy in a world of such impermanence, where you cannot protect your loved ones from harm, illness and death?

The master held up a glass and said: Someone gave me this glass, and I really like this glass. It holds my water admirably and it glistens in the sunlight. I touch it and it rings! One day the wind may blow it off the shelf, or my elbow may knock it from the table.

I know this glass is already broken, so I enjoy it incredibly.

Tiva, really neat collection. I was noticing the Flap Cats too. Very nice!

PurpleCat, I have both the siamese and birman and although I like them both, I would highly recommend the birman. They are spendy, but I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. It is a piece you can always sell later if you don’t like it, but it’s not always available from the store. My $1.05 worth. 😀

Ouch! Ebay bites again. I’m so sorry to hear about your issue with the seller. I talk from experience when I say, that most of us collectors (if we deal with Ebay frequently) have been burned by the “mint” description as well.

What I have done in the past is request from the seller a partial refund. Whatever amount you feel would bring down the price to what you would have paid if you had known the flaws. In this case, the piece was quite expensive so you might have trouble doing this. Although, I don’t think it would be unreasonable to ask for a $30 refund. Perhaps some other members can give a better estimation. You want it to be enough so that you don’t feel you’re being taken to the cleaners, but not too much so that the seller won’t go for it.

It has been my rule of thumb that if the seller refunds the amount I request (in a timely fashion) then I leave positive. If they don’t and 1.) don’t communicate back, 2.)Don’t offer another solution, then I have no problem leaving a negative.

The other option you have is to return the piece for a full refund (assuming the seller will do it) and then just eat the shipping costs. It has been my experience that most sellers prefer partial refunds to full refunds, but it really depends on how you feel about it.

I hope it works out. Please keep us informed.
