I’m betting the continuous paperwork related to running a company, even a sister one just for PYOs would be way too much of a pain in the heinder. π
Not to mention they’d have to discontinue all the already known ones, as those were and are sold as Windstone PYOs, unless they sould somehow ‘sell’ the molds, ideas, paperwork, etc to their sister company and…
yech, my brain just freezes up thinking about it all π This is why I’m on *this* side of the neat and pretty things universe and not the making/marketing/selling side π
I’m wondering if the fact that the mini secret keeper (pyo) looks so much like the real one, which might make keeping trademark exclusivity harder — by that I mean… lets say someone buys a keeper PYO, then paints it in this wonderful glowing blue with gold and bronze and purple accents. At the same time, at the Windstone factory, Melody, or someone in the paint crew develops something similar for a OOAK Keeper– all by chance, since color is universal and what looks good together for one person will prolly look good together for others.
If that person with the PYO posts theirs first in the gallery, there might be some legal esoteric reason I just don’t know or prolly understand that would stop Windstone from selling theirs (too much similarity– not just color, but the same PIECE, in essence)… and since a lot of OOAK auction pieces have color schemes that are further developed into WIndstone colors, it might be that while the keeper PYO is incredible, maybe the problem is in the similarity, at the possible limitations it might being to the company itself?
I could be totally off base, but that was how I was looking at it even when I first say the PYO, the problems it could bring. π

I said i was waiting i gave up and just brought them, thank you yes i have seen the pictures ages ago now π
no prob– I’d just read your post from the 3rd asking if there were pictures yet, and if you hadn’t seen the ones I put up (or the lovely emerald curl that was posted) I was going to ask if you wanted me to send them to you. π Some people have problems seeing pictures in the forms some times, I remember reading. π
Griffiness wrote:There were 7 when i brought mine, i was waiting for pictures but i thought i better get them. Can always sell them on again π
Not sure what pictures you mean, but I know I posted a full 360 of the brown in this thread, and someone else posted their emerald curl?
Personally? I really like it — please post when you eBay her/him/it… if I can afford to bid, I’d love her/him/it on my desk π

What does MOP stand for?
sorry– mother of pearl π

THank you– she reminds me of my cat, who sits there looking totally adorable until some evil enters her mind and then she must commit it π
And kk– let me post the browns here too π
I love the emerald– trying to convince myself that my lap dragon does NOT need a tiny coiled sister. π
If you want to see the brown, I posted pics of the one I got on Saturday to a thread in the Ask Melody folder (didn’t realize there was one here as well)
I love the brown colored dragons! π
Griffiness wrote:Are the pictures Due soon?
I’m not windstone- but here is the lovely brown baby I got Saturday:
The eyes are that lovely blue of the other browns that reminds me of almost lavender, and the jewel is the aquamarine in that neat teal color.
Again being the odd duck out, I ask PLEASE not another standing thing! π That’s one reason I haven’t leaped into the PYO fray– I’ve got cats who think walking on shelves is an inalienable right, and anything that is tall and tippable WILL fall… not to mention living in Southern California where in terms of an earthquake, you’d prefer things with a nice wide base as opposed to the tall tippy thing. π
The PYO Ki-Rin is lovely; but I can see it battered, chipped and destroyed if I did paint one.
And nope, I cannot justify throwing out all our shelves for glassed in ones. If there are to be no more hatching things (I was thinking a large MOP painted pearl with a dragon head or leg coming out myself, since pearls and Oriental Dragons seem ubiquitous -g-) then, if you’re taking requests, something with a nice large base bottom. π

Olimpia’s dragon was incredible– I think I’d buy almost anything in that color. π
I thought the little curlie color was called russet?
No clue what it was called when I ordered it; I just got the color name from the Windstone Online store:
Curled Dragon – Red Flame (https://www.windstoneeditions.com/shop/product.php?productid=21&cat=24&page=1Red)But since the difference was explained, and we all know the color we’re talking about, it’s a moot point. π I just was confused before it was clarified if it was the more cranberry/pink/deep raspberry and gold or the one from the SK, which was different, as it had orange tones to it. π
Nambroth wrote:The new color that is being considered is the very beautiful deep red/orange/flame color that Olimpia came up with, as seen on this secret keeper:
Which was called ‘red gold’ on the auction for the secret keeper, but if made into a production color, Melody’d like to call it “Red Flame”.
thank you! I was a bit confused, as the color on the curlie was ‘red flame’ as well, but looked a lot different (again, might have been the size limitation of a curlie that made me think so π ). Olimpia’s dragon was incredible– I think I’d buy almost anything in that color. π
I’m a bit confused– is the ‘new’ color we’re discussing the color that was on the curlies (which was nice, but in all truth, was just ok for me personally) or the slightly different jaw dropping red on the SK that was recently auctioned?
Maybe they’re somehow the same– but I thought of them as differently painted. The curlie was pretty, but, for me, the way the gradient from red to gold was done was a bit stark– like a red/gold sandwich layer rather than soft blending of color. Being small, it might be lack of room for slower blending from red TO gold, where the larger SK had lovely soft blending and melding of color on her.

Correct they are way to fragile and with the speed Dragons would fly they would be torn to threads
Small, handsized dragons with hollow bones like certain birds would do just find with butterfly wings. π And considering their size, you could extrapolate these were a ‘purposefully bred’ sort of companion dragon (akin to having a lap dragon) that certain wizards might have created and imbrued with mystical energy to allow them to have delicate thin wings for fluttering about decoratively in the homes of those lucky enough to have one as a friend…
Putting limits on dragons is just plain silly… they are whatever they and their creator choose them to be. Magic happens in the oddest ways, and to poo poo a lovely thing like a butterfly winged dragon because it fails to fit your view of it is limiting. π
Enjoy the concept, or ignore it if it is that loathesome to your draconic way of thinking, and if one ever is made, just don’t pick one up if they’re not your mug of tea. π
