  • in reply to: Found, thanks!: CP/Teal Lap Dragon #868896

Sigh…ten day bump. If there’s anything I can or should do to make this more likely to happen, let me know. I’m haunting ebay, of course, but there hasn’t been one of these as far back as history will let me search–October, I think–so I’m not feeling very hopeful at the moment!

And I’d like to get her before the money set aside for her gets caught up by other things. We all know how THAT goes.

in reply to: Hang tags….do you keep them on? #868859

Interesting…saving the fitted boxes makes perfect sense even if you’re keeping the sculpture, because you might move someday. And especially on the more expensive sculpts or the more intricate ones with horns or tiny feet. The boxes are a nuisance if you’re short on storage though. Or have a husband who automatically thinks “cardboard = recycle” and tosses the darn thing. (Thank heavens he hadn’t yet cut it apart, I just pulled it out & need to find a better hiding spot. And stick a post it on it, to keep him from touching it.)

But tags? It simply wouldn’t occur to me that people would care about a generic tag. I should know better–how many Beanie Babies with tags (and tag protectors!) are still somewhere in this house?!?!

Still, when my CP/Teal male arrived this week, I stuck the tag under him without even thinking about it…hmmm….

I looked at them pretty closely last night. Definite repair & simply spray painted one shade of gold. There’s ZERO detail painting on them at all.

If I had the time to work on them, I might contact the guy, tell him what he had, ask for a (cheap) package deal, and then do That Which Shall Not Be Named On These Boards for my own personal enjoyment, and because those poor babies deserve better. But tempting as the idea is, I’ve got way too many projects ahead of that one to consider it.

Over on the Eastside here. 🙂 Welcome!

Unless it’s a big ticket item, electronics (cell phones & cameras are often targets for scams, eapecially iPhones) or they want it shipped to Nigeria, it’s probably safe enough.

Do not ship to an unconfirmed address through Paypal if you’re dealing with someone brand new though. Read the steps carefully for seller protection under eBay/Paypal’s rules, and follow them exactly.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes!

Regardless of who painted it, that rock dragon has the PERFECT amount of patina on it.

And the indigo scheme fascinates me. Loved it on the curlie. Hated it on the gryff & fledgling. LOVE it on the male. *scratches head* I wonder why it affects me so differently on so many different scupts?

in reply to: New Copper Patina #868445

Yea Wampus, you nailed it. I think that’s the best too. I LOVE the Lap dragon in Jolie’s siggy, but I saw someone selling one once that was like “Holy YUK!” It was COVERED in patina and looked just awful >_<

Yeah, have to admit that though I’m desperate to have one, I’d reject one that was too heavily patinaed. The one the store has pictured is just about a perfect balance as far as I’m concerned.

I love real copper patina on stuff that goes outside. For these guys, I like the “suggestion” of patina rather than a heavy hand with it.

in reply to: New Copper Patina #868284

While I do understand that this scheme was created to rescue less than perfect castings, to tell you the truth, I would really LOVE a pure copper color scheme, no patina, maybe gold highlights or something like that.

    Yes yes yes!

(Although I’ve now fallen for the Toasted Pearl as well–enough copper to soothe my copper craving soul, and no patina. Too bad the only thing I’ve seen it on is a curlie, and like everything else I want, it’s not available. Can’t I fall for a production color scheme just once?)

Meanwhile, count me in the “less patina is better” category.

He’s amazing! What a gorgeous blending job you’ve done. Just…wow.

Oooo! Loving him. I’d love to paint a few of those myself

Most definitely. Terrific work, I envy both your skill and your patience in cutting in all those tiny scales!

in reply to: Now I have a WHICH EYES? question ^_^ #868192

Yeah. I’m wanting to make an order to from her sometime soonish – but even her Etsy page is empty right now.

Etsy site says basically “on vacation” until the 9th–next Monday. So only a little longer to wait.

… I think the general response to seeing a Windstone for the first time is shock and awe, not disappointment. 😛

Unless your first Windstone love is WAY out of your budget. LOL

Ebay may have sent her a warning–though I’d think she’d stop using the keyword at that point–or someone may have contacted her directly. Not sure what she thinks she’s achieving with either the name change or the rant though.

As you said, ebay never fails to entertain…!

in reply to: Bat winged small tuxedo flap cats? #868097

correct, the one on astral castle is an “original” small black flap cat. There is a sunset winged one in the store, but those are the only two mostly black flap cats made to date.

Perfect, thank you. That’s exactly what I needed to know–what I want hasn’t been made yet, and the closest is the original black.

in reply to: Bat winged small tuxedo flap cats? #868064

Yes, there were once bat winged black flap cats 🙂

Right–weren’t they the originals? But no white feet, which is the hallmark of the tuxedo variant.

There’s a current (or recent) large bird wing version, which led me to hope that a small bat wing might have been produced while I wasn’t looking.
