PT–I absolutely LOVE Ritz. That might possibly be my favorite small PYO dragon. (I have two tuxedo cats…and the expression on that PYO captures any cat perfectly anyway. LOL) Great work!
A trick for Windstones that were originally sold by the factory on eBay, but at a date later than the Ravnheart database covers:
I recently needed to know the original price of one of the Stray Cat Edition small flap cats that Melody had done a while back. Searching the forum for the cat’s name (or the phrase “Stray Cat Edition”) brings up whole threads, some of them far too large to search efficiently. I took the search to Google, where I could pull up the same threads and go directly to the referenced post instead. By doing this, I found the piece I was looking for described in a thread–in this case, the Ebay cart thread, but one from two years ago when the piece was first sold.
Using the date on the posts I found, I then went to eBay, brought up the Windstone Editions profile, and began searching through feedback. Each feedback has the title of the auction, which typically includes the name of the piece. Because I knew from the posts approximately when this one had been released, I could quickly skip over multiple pages of feedback at a time until I got to around the the correct time period. Sure enough, from there, it took only a couple of minutes to find the feedback for that auction–and the original price paid.
Obviously, it’s a little more digging than just searching Ravnheart, but between Google and eBay, I had the original price in under five minutes. For stuff that you know was first sold on eBay and can’t immediately get a value on elsewhere, it’s not a bad way to search.
Nutmeg mail for me was Saturday at 5:30 PM PST.
Though, it would be awesome to get more “animal” designs in non-fantasy colors – cuttlefish, tiger, zebra, etc. I think those would get a ton of love 🙂
^^^^^^This. A thousand times, this. All the stripes–regardless of color scheme–are tagged on nearly everyone’s wish list when the GB trade thread goes up. I know they’re probably more work, and it’s tough not to duplicate ones either within the batch or from previous batches, but these would go extremely fast. Many of us will never be able to afford either eBay prices or the secondary market prices for a tiger striped whatever-sculpt-you-want-to-paint, and would be falling all over each other to finally get our hands on just one.
I get caught up in the excitement of everybody waiting and then I hang out to see how fast they go. Next thing I know I’m buying something. 🙂 Better for the wallet and my shelf space to not know when exactly. 🙂
Amen to that. I think it’s getting too easy for me to get caught up in these. At this point, I just might be better off not knowing too far in advance that something’s up. A day or two ahead of release–as chrisherself said, when Windstone KNOWS they’re ready to put in the store–that amount of notice is fine. If I can’t afford something or miss it outright, well, that’s life. Others will certainly buy even if I can’t!
(I admit, it’s been lots of fun to watch the excitement & see how fast things go. But I need to slow down on my personal buying for a bit!)
Got my order placed, and the other order for my friend’s daughter; first time I’ve tried to catch for someone else, so I hope I didn’t screw it up. Whew. If they oversold again, well, I’ll send mine down to California and try to catch the next batch.
Utterly gorgeous though! Can’t wait to see one in person!
I would also add that while no males have sold on ebay in the last 90 days, other sculpts in the color scheme are sticking pretty close to retail.
If you do try ebay, my personal .02 worth is you’re better off starting with a low opening bid to lure buyers in, setting a reserve of perhaps 3/4 of your wished for price if you’re concerned that it won’t go high enough (high reserves can also scare off buyers). Unless it’s an in demand piece, I’ve seen pieces languish on ebay week after week with starting prices that are just way too high–even if they’re exactly what the sculpt may be worth–while the same sculpt listed with a lower starting bid sells first.
Even with one of a kinds like the grab bags, I’ve watched those sit and be relisted several times, often dropping their price, because they started out too high.
Just one opinion though. Priced right as an auction (or priced decently as a Buy It Now), most Windstones seem to sell just fine.
March 8, 2012 at 9:39 pm in reply to: Grayfire artz pyo batch2 :3 New Swap foo and nemmy foo!!!! #876247Beautiful paintwork on both of them! 🙂
Though I am starting to wonder…do you ever do pyos that do NOT have red or brown eyes…? 😉
LOL–I’d noticed the same thing. 😀 Love love love that dragon, but the red eyes don’t do it for me at all.
The phoenix’s detailing is amazing, too. I wish I had the time to do such gorgeous work like that!
I’m sorry to confuse – just an email announcement with the time we plan to put them in the store. The store does not generate one saying it’s in the way it does if you’ve pressed the Notify button on an out of stock item – this is a new item. The trouble is, if you get an email that says they’ll be in the store at 5 pm, I have to put them in there at that time – and if everyone is refreshing, the store could crash, and if the telephone rings, I have to answer that instead of putting them in, or a million other things could happen (like maybe I forget what time it is!) which could mean it goes into store a little after. This is not a perfect system. If I were to enter the item ahead of time and then you all press the “notify” button, you’d get an email when it’s in – HOWEVER – as soon as I enter the item and people see it in there, out of stock, my phone would ring off the hook with inquiries about why there was no announcement and had they already sold out… I’m pondering this….
Do you think ANY other company has this problem???
No. 🙂
But I think if you put them in with the notify message–and with notice in the description itself, first line, (not the comments below) that says, “We expect these in the store today or tomorrow, please hit the notify button”, that should fix both issues. Anyone with any sense won’t be calling you at that point, they’ll be hitting “notify”. Plus, we’d get to see a pic of one with eye/jewel/globe color, and that might sway some people one way or another.
And you’d have some idea of whether or not to start casting /painting more of these right away. LOL
I definitely don’t see this one as a black scheme. I see a many-toned blue dragon shading into black. Big difference to me.
The only thing I don’t like are the blue talons. Silver would be awesome.
… and do minor surgery…
…not entirely harmless…
O_O
*eyes GB poad on desktop and notes sharp beak and claws(?)*
Maybe I’d be safer with this little one locked up in the curio… 😉
*does the “put the curlies in the store” rain dance*
NO! No rain! It’s sunny for once, and I’d rather wait another day for curlies than endure any more rain!
(Actually, we woke to snow yesterday, which really ticked me off. Rain is a slight improvement.)
Hopefully the curlies are ready to fly tonight…
in all seriousness… I’ve wasted the past 7 hours in front of this screen just waiting for either these or the BVP fledgie restock >_<
That IS the advantage of a smartphone. The only time I have the “new email” alert on is when something like this is happening. Of course, then I spend the whole day jumpy–but at least I don’t have to be glued to the computer…I just have to race across the house when the email comes through. Hmm…maybe that’s not really an improvement. LOL
Thanks for the update Susie, even if it’s not great news for me. Tomorrow’s going to be a tough day for me to catch anything.
Todaaaaay?
LMAO–I just spit tea on my monitor. Thanks even so–I needed that laugh bad. 😀
