July 6, 2014 at 3:37 am in reply to: A General Thank You to the Windstone Staff Regarding the Peanuts #915249
I loved the look on my housemates face when I popped a small handful of Windstone packing peanut into my mouth.
“Man, I’m hungry. Oh, peanuts, Nom, nom, nom!”
It’s always a blast pulling that off on unsuspecting people.
~Hoofer, not so right in the noodle, but always out for fun.
July 6, 2014 at 3:28 am in reply to: *waves shyly* Um, hello! I have no business being here! #915248Hello oddly named one.
Just thought I’d mention it, some of us ogled Windstones for 20+ years before we finally were able to start our collection.
No matter the sculpture, you’ll find that they’re ALL lovely in their own and unique way.

P.S. Welcome Hugebody McTinyhead to WCA (Windstone Collectors Anonymous) where we all understand and support you and your addiction.
P.P.S. NEVER ask us to tell you NOT to purchase a Windstone. :->
June 17, 2014 – An update on me. I have been living in North Hollywood CA for a month and half now. I got a job at Universal Studios Hollywood. So, I am loving living here. LA is congested, sunny and dry, but it’s also exciting and so different from my life in Chicago. I wanted a change of pace in my life, and I got it.
Ah ha ha!
North Hollywood, CA. What were the odds?
As we all know, when Windstone and Company created this website, they too were in North Hollywood, CA.
As an aside, you’re now that much closer to Oregon. :->
Thanks for the update. Good luck in your quest for finding the right job and doing what you love.

Sun burned like crazy, my feet are killing me and I have muscles that are yelling at me ’cause they haven’t been used recently but I’m having a blast!!!

~Hoofer
P.S. Congrats, it’s nice having some cash flow.
What’s that I hear? A (relatively) new addict?
Mwahahahaha!
We understand your addiction and feel your cravings.
Awesome find.
Wait til you eyeball, hold, embrace other sculptures she has created.
They all seem to have a spirit of their own.

June 30, 2014 at 12:17 pm in reply to: Science Topics: Deep Ocean Trenches 6/19//14 (not very well written though) #914920During WWII, U.S. Air Force and Navy meteorologists tracking storms needed a better way to classify specific hurricanes while analyzing weather maps. Many began paying tribute to their wives and girlfriends back home by naming tropical cyclones after them.
As this became a common norm, some feminist taught back one even say that
>>>”Women are not disasters, destroying life and communities and leaving a lasting and devastating effect.”<<<
leading to means names being cycled into the mix.
Aaaaah, ha, ha, ha, ha!
This is a gem I was not aware of. In my timeline, Hurricanes (reminder, this is a native Floridian typing here) have been named with the rotating male and female format. My dog is named Ivan (formerly Rusty), since that was the hurricane that was impending when I decided I would adopt him. We were weathering it together, but the storm missed us entirely and had it’s fit in the Panhandle area. That was the year that we (Floridians) had approximately six weeks of back to back hurricanes (four total.)
As for the above quote. Oh yeah, they were quite right to point out the obvious.
I find it amazing how something well intentioned, yet not thoroughly thought out, became a ‘bone of contention’, so to speak.
Mostly women are NOT the destroyers. Throughout history though, there were SOME women that were.
Thanks for that gem.

Hello Kiya,
Since my assumption was way off base, I really wanted to go back and edit my post, but these forums will not allow it.
To reiterate, you all do so much for us addicts (collectors of Windstone and members of these boards.) Since I first found these boards, some interesting occurrences have cropped up. Unfortunately, the results were that it has either stopped a generous gesture or caused more work for those that truly don’t need it, you all behind the scenes.
It is good to know that I was mistaken and it was a matter of rule bending, but not outright cheating.
I would hate to see either quests or raffles stopped because of the unscrupulous actions of rare individuals.

Baby gothic unicorns 😀
Omg yes! Maybe with kinda drooping/relaxed ears as if it’s all tuckered out from frolicking!
Also, is it too crazy/out of left field to desire either a unicorn alpaca or some sort of horned alpaca sculpt?!
I think the Gothic Unicorns look quite Llama like already. Does anyone else?
I’m surprised that no one has mentioned a mother style Gothic yet. Since the male version is already laying down, I’d vote that she be the first female in the family group to be on her feet, so to speak.
I’d still LOVE beyond all else a Kitsune <3 I think it would make an adorable pebble animal or PYO even.
This sounds cool, but I sure ain’t gonna paint it!
I do have that little kitsune nine tails. It could be a pyo. What’s a Kitsune with nine tails? Is that a cat type critter with nine tails? I think I recall seeing something like that drawn by Melody.
All I am interested in is sculpting pyos! Painting this stuff is too hard.
Isn’t that what you have production painters for?
As a side note, Olympia had some big shoes to fill. Brandi sure has done a great job wearing them.
PYO winged fox?
Sick of wings
And you have how many sculptures with wings now?
It’s no wonder.
It’s obvious that I love teasing you about lovely Grand Pegasus sculpture of yours.
I’m willing to put some hard earned cash that this is probably the primary reason you’ve lost your inspiration for finishing that fella.
If I’m right, I can relate.
I enjoyed drawing horses. I did it up to the age of fifteen. I did some nice wing outlines on the first few Pegasi. Then I saw this great drawing of a Pegasus with really nice feather detailing to the wings. It was an advertisement in a magazine, but it was a very small picture.
Those wings got to me. It was the last picture my hands touched. Well, except for my signature donkey drawing. I’ve continued to draw her through the years.
It wasn’t so much that I was discouraged and quit forever. I was discouraged enough to pause though, because all the erasing in a particular spot caused the drawing paper to thin to much. So I figured I’d put it down to rethink if I wanted to try it fresh or work around the thin area. Then I just got busy with life.
I still have it. I’m not sure if I’m super optimistic that I may attempt to finish it one day or if I keep it because I’m secretly tormenting myself with it.
So in a way, I can kinda relate to your not finishing him. :->

Well, you could always look at it like this …
You’re getting TWO for the price of ONE !!
WOOT!!

The Griffins are spectacular in this color scheme. To quote Melody, “resplendent.”
I know the Dragons will also hold the color well, my favorites being the Lap and OW, so I know your indecision.
If this helps ….
I finally bought the original copper patina color in the male and female Griffin mold. It was the one color that always popped when I viewed it and yes, I always wanted to splurge for a Griffin. When the inventory dropped to one remaining male Griffin in that color scheme, well ….
Let me just say, I was NOT disappointed. As a matter of fact, where the Unicorns dwarf my Pegasi family, the Griffins totally dwarf my Unicorns. Aside from them being gorgeous sculptures, you really feel like you’re getting your moneys worth with the Griffin sculptures.
And wouldn’t you know, several weeks later, Brandi’s fantabulous blue Morpho Griffins make their appearance ….. oh yeah, my credit card bleedith. Bah, it’s about time I used it some. I remind myself that I risk them closing it if I don’t. Heh
I think the female Griffin is slightly heaftier than the lap. If you go for it, you won’t be disappointed.
~Hoofer and her point zero two cents.
I’m still hoping to see the HIPPOGRIFF or the LION KIRIN someday <3 Most of all, the wee little 9 TAILED KITSUNE that was on facebook!!! There is one mythological beastie we have yet to see. A kitsune and perhaps even a HIPPOCAMPUS… even better, the GRIFFOCAMPUS!
THREAD KILL !!
And since this is such a short list, maybe finish this guy …..
…. una dia. 😛

Yeah, Photobucket has my vote.
I have no face in a book, except for the original ones with printed numbers on a page that I’m reading, nor do I use a phone that is dubbed ‘smart’. I’m antiquated, I do internet stuff with a computer.
For people like me, Photobucket makes everything so easy. Basic understanding of key terms via some reading and I can post photos to various sites like a pro.
Don’t forget, you can also control what material (in this case photos) is public and what is not. Edit them, like adding text, etc. You can link the whole folder for mass viewing or just copy the specific line for posting a single photo to a particular site.
They also updated their software for easier sorting, adding and removing of photos. I’ve yet to near their free GB storage space, so my account has been free the entire time I’ve used them, which is about six years now.

Right now we have the whole Blue Morpho Griffin family available again!
Whoa, they are? Hmmm, I didn’t see them on the home page with the other specials.
Oof, 4 male Griffins remaining at 22:43 hours eastern aka 10:43 p.m. aaaaand now 3 males remaining in the store.
This new LE color (as Melody described it) is definitely resplendent.
Brandi did some test paints on dragons too… they look grand! ‘specially the Lap with the silver horns…
< :
Yes, we will keep painting griffins in blue Morpho, but at the moment Brandi is painting dragons.
You should see the Spectrals dragons in this color!!
< :
I can’t wait to see the Laps and Spectrals.
Mercury Star, where are you? There are 3 male Griffins left to complete your family!
~Hoofer
Super typo!!! I meant sprayed.
Ha, ha, I figured since the Unicorn didn’t have it’s horn, it was more neutered than spayed.
Ah the veterinary background, so many jokes, so few situations to use them these days.
By the way, the Keeper in those colors, next to the Unicorn, fabulous! I actually like it better than the Unicorn and you all know, I’m a bigger fan of the equines than the dragons. But those colors on that Keeper, the way you blended them …. oh yeah.
Perhaps it’s the spots on the Unicorn. I can see me liking her much better without the appy touch. She’s beautiful, but you know …. for me …. it’s the spots, which is weird because I like subtle dapples. On the other hand, that Fantasm Unicorn you did for Syn (first page, March 2011) … WOW. I might be hinkey on spots, but strips, with all that interference, oh yeah. That one was supreme.
