And you can only hope they pack it right for you. When I do buy from there,I always ask for proper packing, maybe half of the sellers will actually do it though.Last one I got, stone gargoyle, emailed packing and it still arrived in one box, brown paper packing and broken.I was the only bidder, got it for $10 so didn’t bother getting a refund, wing broken and chips I can fix.I have bought many in excellent shape so I guess it is a roll of the dice.Good luck with your future purchases.

Oh! So sorry to hear that Lisa, it is always heartbreaking to have that happen. As others have said eBay is a shot in the dark. Generally for me I have had good luck with the exception of a Ruby Scrather years ago.

I specially asked the seller if they were aware of how fragile Windstones were and if he knew the proper way to ship them. He stated that he did.

The scratcher arrived in a single box  wrapped in a plastic grocery bag, no peanuts and the box fit so tightly that the scratchers horns had poked thru the box durning shipping and were lost in transit. His wings were broken off, his neck was broken and his entire head was what I am assuming the powdered sugar in the grocery bag was. I was hreartbroken. I contacted the seller, he requested that I return the scratcher and he gave me a full refund.

About a year later I found another that was at a much more reasonable price and the seller knew how to pack correctly. In the long run it all worked out for the best.

I do however contact anyone I buy Windstones from in eBay (unless I already know the seller and their packing procedures) with a message explaing the correct way to ship a Windstome.

Please don’t feel stupid though. Almost all of us have had the same thing happen at some point.

      Looking for:
"COSMIC SHIFT DRAGONS and KI-RINS" and the "OCTOPUS TANUKI TEST PAINT #1"

My younger daughter is now the width of the continent away.  We live in Georgia and she just moved to California.  I’m excited for her and know this was a logical decision professionally, so on FB I have to be supportive, but I needed to come here and whine – Momma is having a hard time with this.  It’s a good and positive move for her, but there is a part of me that selfishly wishes she was still here.  I have faith it will all be good in the end, but I’m just having a pity party right now. 😉

If it is the one I am thinking of, it is still available at a different link. I found it not too long ago and posted it somewhere… or maybe sent it to someone in a pm. I wonder if I would find it more quickly searching around here, or searching on ebay again. Hmm. On ebay, I think I found it searching in “community”.

My keyboard is broken. I keep pressing "Escape", but I'm still here.

Aggie, I can’t imagine how tough it is to watch your little ones spread their wings and fly so far away. Rest assured knowing that it sounds like you raised a successful, capable kiddo. The good news is that technology makes keeping on contact easy these days, and she’s only a plane ride away! 🙂 (And hey, we’re all here if you need to whine a little! There’s no harm in that!)

I spent some time looking for it yesterday, and didn’t find it. I know it took me a while to find it last time, and that was within 2018. I shoulda bookmarked it. I’ll look some more today. I really hate how eBay will “correct” your search entry for you. No, I do not want to search for “sandstone”, I typed in “Windstone” because that is what I meant!

                      >sigh< I found the link I posted, which worked at the time – March 25, 2018. It doesn’t work anymore. I went on eBay help chat, and the guy tried really hard for an hour to find it. His second-to-last meaningful reply was “I am not having very much luck, looks like a lot of the guides have been removed. Even when clicking on some guides, it just takes me to main ebay buying guide page”. Which is exactly where the link I posted (http://www.ebay.com/gds/Safely-Packaging-Windstone-Editions-for-Shipping-/10000000014669952/g.html) took me. HOWEVER, a google search on parts of the title turned up the text without pictures that had been cross-posted here: http://fancy–dress-costume.blogspot.com/2011/09/safely-packaging-windstone-editions-for.html

and yeah, ebay tried to sandstone me too, bad ebay!

My Father in Law died of a massive heart attack last Thursday (5-3-18). It was a huge shock to everyone. We are all still reeling from it and will be for a long time. He was a very kind and loving man that always did his best for everyone he met, not just his family.

My whine is more of a plea to everyone out there with loved ones. Please, please make sure that all your paperwork (insurance polices, bank accounts, wills and such) are all put into fireproof safe/box and to let at least 2 people know where it and the keys for it are loacted at.

My Father in Law did NOT do this. We have  already spent over a week going thru 4 different buildings just to find the basic stuff and we still can’t locate several very important accounts, accounts that we know for a fact that he had.

This type of search on top of what is already a stressful situation is very difficult on those who are left behind. So please, if you haven’t put any thought into something like this, do so now. It will save your family so much extra stress at an already bad time.

                        Looking for:
"COSMIC SHIFT DRAGONS and KI-RINS" and the "OCTOPUS TANUKI TEST PAINT #1"

StormDancer, when my mother suddenly died, she had no paperwork of anything to let others know what she had going on. We just went directly to the places we knew she had business, because we saw she had bank statements or such, and explained the situation. They asked for proof of her death and our identities. It was a lot of leg work, but we took care of it all that way. I am sorry for your loss.
