I Love the Cranes – they are Perfect, and I Adore those Green eyes! They are so soft and expressive – Great Job! Your recent Sushi Cats remind me so much of the upcoming Cherry Blossum Festival in DC. So so pretty.

Thank you Ela_Hara! The eyes were surprisingly difficult, I had to be really careful with the pupil placement, or else it’d look really weird from different angles. I’m really pleased with how the cranes have come out, I wasn’t sure if they’d be too tiny to work with, but they came out how I wanted! I would love to go to the DC cherry blossom festival someday, that’d be right up my ally!

I’m working on the collar tonight, I’m trying out a pink/violet color for it, we will see if it turns out nice!

As always, I’m in awe of your artistic talent Landipan. Those cranes are so beautiful! They look as soft as clouds. I would never have the patience to do that sort of finely-detailed painting, especially with whites. I loooove the gentle watercolor-esque background too. Just wowza. You should feel proud!

More Progress! I’ve finished the obi, and also added falling petals all around. Next I’ll fix the birds where they do a little muddied and add more pizazz all around before tackling the collar.

I’m wondering about whether I should keep the cat white, it’s been white for so long that now I think I quite like it that way, or try for a cat pattern like I originally planned, what do you guys think? Keep white or try for something more experimental?

That is amazing! White for the cat doesn’t seem quite right (based on the work so far). I liked your idea of a flame point Siamese, though I think that would normally have blue eyes, or maybe just a grey cat?

Personally, I like the cat white. A friend of mine had a white cat with green eyes that was lovely. Maybe some subtle shading and a pink nose. If you do a cat pattern, I would say do something light. You don’t want to overwhelm the pastels in the kimono. The details in the kimono are so wonderful you wouldn’t want to detract from them. I also really like your space pinto unicorn.
