The last of the dragons I’ve been waiting for has finally arrived! The Peacock Riser arrived this afternoon, and he is very, very pretty. He seems to be a different version of the peacock, as we’ve been discussing on another thread. If he is, then I officially have representatives of all three versions. 😉 I’m waiting on the return of the sun so I can take him and the sitting spectral outside for a comparison shot. But in the meantime, here’s a couple of side by sides. 😀
Out of all the “newer” Peacocks, I think the riser is actually the closest to the old color so far. Since he just got here this afternoon, I haven’t had the chance to see him in the bright sunlight. I’m kinda torn between which one I like better. I like the newer colors because they’re brighter, and the blue is closer to the royal blue, which is my favorite color. On the other hand, I like the shading of green and different purples on the old color. Which is probably why I fell for the new Em Peas. 😉 The best of BOTH worlds! 😆
The most surprising thing of all to me was the color my husband has decided he likes out of all the dragons. He loves green, and emerald would be his favorite shade. So I figured he’d really like the Em Peas. He does, but he said he actually likes the Red Fire OW most of all. And I gotta admit, he is an eye catcher. I love the dark shading around his eyes. 😀It looks like a couple of days at the rate we’re going.
Gimme a few, and I’ll upload the ones I took with the flash this afternoon….soon as I get off the phone. 😉lamortefille wrote:That’s a lovely old male, tasgrs:-)
Thank you! He does look pretty good for his age. 😉
And funny thing here. After having this discussion on the variations, my Peacock Riser arrived this afternoon, and sure enough, he appears to be the third variation. He has more green on his chest than the sitting. I took pictures, but they’re indoors and using a flash so they aren’t enough contrast for me. I’m gonna wait for the sun to come back before attempting outside shots again. 😛
The pyrs are a challenge some days. 😆 But overall she is a wonderful dog, and I’ve been very lucky with her. I managed to put an obedience title on her by the time she was a year old. She’s the only pyr from her breeder’s kennels in over 20 years of breeding to get a CD title. I just found that working with her from the very beginning and not thinking about the breed traits (too much…. 🙂 ) was the way to go. She’s a total couch potatoe; she runs around the yard for about 15 minutes, and then she’s done for the day.
I wouldn’t say she has an odorless coat, though. She can get pretty doggy if I don’t have her bathed every couple of months. And shed? Oh my….twice a year it looks like a fur bomb went off in the yard….and house. AACK! 😯 The vacuum cleaner kinda chuckles weakly. I end up combing the rug before I vacuum with a slicker brush. 😛
We live in a ranch style house, so stairs were never an issue, and have a good sized fenced in yard. I would dearly LOVE another pyr, but unfortunately I’m getting to the point where if something should go wrong, I can’t pick her up and carry her, or to get her in the car if she is incapacitated. 🙁 She weighs about 110 lbs. and is just a bit more than I can carry anymore.
But she isn’t terribly stubborn, doesn’t bark at air molecules (like some of them do. 🙂 ) is totally wonderful with kids and cats, and I wouldn’t trade her for the world. I’ll look and see if I have pictures on the pc that I can post a little later.**BIG BAMBI EYES!!!!** AAAaaaaWWWW! C’MOOOOOOOOONNNN! Not fair–we wanna seeeeeee! This is cruel and inhuman punishment. 😥 Don’t make us have to hold our breath and turn blue. 😉 😆 (even if it IS my favorite color…)

To beat a Windstone addiction, there is no medical cure, no magical pill you can take to rid yourself of the desire to buy more. Just think of these things:
1. Keep away from this forum!!!!!! These people (me included) are a bad influence!!!!
2. Money. If you don’t have it, you can’t buy more Windstones. And don’t buy if you don’t know how you’re going to pay for it.
3. Try not to see them in a store. Then you’ll realize just how stunning they are and want to buy one.
These are just suggestions. They haven’t worked for me! 😀 But I haven’t tried to kick my addiction!! 😆
Oooooor……figure it’s a lost cause, give up smoking and drinking instead, and spend the money you saved on more WIndstones! 😆 Giving up those addictions is probably easier. 😯 (and a whole lot healthier…)
Since admitting to my hubby that there are 3 more pieces coming saved me a whole lot of grief, I’m promising to not buy anything else….For the time being. 😈 And I don’t have to haunt my front porch, waiting on the mailman. I’m lucky in the fact that since he collects a lot of different things like model trains, coins and musical instruments–we’re both in a band–but at least if I start talking about limited editions, test runs, etc. his eyes don’t glaze over, and he does at least understand the concept even if the object of my desire escapes him. 😉 😀 But at least I got to order my first Griffins before swearing off. 😉wolflodge100 wrote:Nice picture! Your fledgeling really looks different, I don’t think I’ve seen one like that before
Wow, that’s what I was thinking, too, wolf.
So there are 3 distinctly different variations of peacock. Not that I was doubting, 😉 but I don’t think I’ve ever seen the third one.
Here are a couple more shots of the old vs new. I used the sitting spectral and my old male, taken outside. (but it’s still kinda overcast, so no real good light….)And another side by side of my 2 youngs in the “old” peacock, also taken outside…
tf, first of all, good wishes coming your way from me and my zoo here in NJ! I know all too well what it’s like to be faced with what seems like insurmountable obstacles with our furkids!
On the wheelchair/walker idea, a lot will depend on Miso’s temperament and attitude about being restrained. A lot of critters adapt amazingly well to the chair; and some don’t. But since she is only 3, and the little dogs generally tend to live longer than our big ones, if this is something she’ll accept, it’ll be very helpful in letting her be mobile without pain.
I have a Great Pyrenees, (and you can’t get to the other end of the doggy spectrum from Miso much more than that! 😆 ) and we see a lot of subluxations on these guys. A couple of things can be done to help. First off, keep the floor surface in mind. A lot of these injuries are related to slips. So runner carpets for hallways, stairs etc. are pretty much a must have. Keep her nails clipped short and any feathering on her feet clipped back so she has more grip on the floor where carpeting isn’t happening. You’ve already cleared one hurdle by putting Miso on a diet; less weight=less strain on all joints, so diet is gonna be a biggie, unfortunately.
Consider crate training her in advance of the surgery if possible. She will need to have her movement strictly limited, and better to teach her to accept this now rather than stressing her further after the surgery, if it happens.
A lot of times gentle stretching and manipulations can help an animal to regain movement/flexibility. Perhaps a visit/chat with a vet physical therapist will provide exercises? I do have a dear friend who adopted a stray cat who had had a broken femur that had displaced, and fused back together side by side. Mushie walked with a noticable limp when Claudia got her, and she also couldn’t jump very well. It took months of stretching and working on Mush, but it paid off, and she is now 19 years old, ruling the roost in FL with an iron paw, and no trace of the limp or break. But again, it took months—nearly a year of stretching and manipulating her leg every single day.
There is hope, and given her age, I’d go for the surgery if you can. She has the potential for a good long, high quality life ahead of you and her!
Good luck, and keep us posted!!May 10, 2008 at 4:41 pm in reply to: Many, many Windstones for sale! More pieces 5/8/08, MO's now #694886I can attest to the newness of the pieces I got yesterday. I bought an Em Pea male and mother, and they were in their original boxes, and wrapped in plastic, and there was literally not ONE SPECK of dust on them. (And there was also a very nice thank you note, that really kind of made me sad…… 😥 )
Jennifer, if you could/would, please pass on my thanks to Cathy? I didn’t save her email addy….I thought I did, but it would appear not. 😕
And the colors on these are just totally enthralling….I have a NEW color to collect now! 😆
starbreeze wrote:I’m in the same time zone you are, but they photograph better in the sun. It’s kinda dark at 1am. 😆
This would be true. 😆
Hopefully your weather is better than mine at the moment; it’s still kinda overcast. I was hoping to go ride with my neighbors today, but it looks like that’s going on the slate for tomorrow…..
I really should lug all the pieces outside when the sun comes out, and take some better shots of the collection. All of my pictures so far have been taken inside with a flash, which doesn’t show the dragons off very well. I’m looking at having to make like 10 trips in and out to get all 17 pieces outside! YIKES! 😯 😯Hey! I do have another question for y’all…I was looking at my Peacock male side by side with the new Em Pea, and it looks to me that my older male’s eyes are different than the new guy. Is there a way to tell if the old one is a frown eyed? It’s not a REAL BIG difference, but it is different….of course, I was looking at them at like 1 in the morning, so it could’ve been ME that was a bit frown-eyed…. 😆
skigod377 wrote:Congrats tasgrs! Its nice to have a green light and Happy Anniversary!!
It *does* beat the alternative, doesn’t it? 😆 And thanks for the anniversary wishes. It will be 22 years on May 31. There are days when I wonder why I let him live this long, and then there are days like yesterday when I’m glad I DID. 😈 😆
And the Em Pea male and mother did arrive yesterday afternoon. It was like being a kid at Christmas. 😀
All that’s left to wait for now is the Peacock Riser, and the male and mother Sunset griffins. And that will *HAVE* to be it for a while; the bank account is rather stressed at the moment. But I do have to say this: I LOVE THE EM PEA COLOR!!!! I hadn’t seen the bigger pieces in it; just the hatcher and the fledge. When the male and mother arrived, I think I stood there with them in my hands completely enthralled for a long enough time that my husband asked me if there was something wrong with them. 😉 So now I need to start saving up for an Emp. 😉
ARRRRGH! Make me wait??? But it’s already tomorrow here. 😉 😆

This is the link, but when I try to go there, I get that freakin’ permission denied screen. *totally exasperated sigh!*
I’ve got some other eggs that didn’t fit into my signature that I can’t get to, either. Here’s the codes for them, too….I can’t see ANYBODY’S eggs/dragons 😡 -
