Like Serenity said, the foam is actually normal male betta behavior–in fact, it’s probably a pretty good sign, as a betta that’s stressed and unhappy isn’t as likely to build bubble-nests (hence why you don’t see them so often in those little pet-store cups, lol..). So don’t worry, it’s a good thing!
He’s adorable! I still miss my betta Shimmers…I only managed to keep him alive for about six months, so I haven’t wanted to try again since I haven’t yet figured out what I did wrong…my goldfish are all 3+ years old and doing great. Although, I knew others who got their betta from the same source and nobody else’s lived through the week…so I guess that’s some consolation. ^_^;;
Ah well…perhaps someday I’ll pick up a new tank and rescue a betta again. (my old betta tank got turned into a snake feeding tank, hehe).
Oh my god. I had to clap my hands over my mouth to keep from waking my family. XD Those are AWESOME! The Fail is beyond hilarious. Thank you for sharing these, I needed a good laugh. ^_^
Oh. I want the moonshell so bad. I’m particularly charmed by the blue fellow on the left…I love your sculpts, and I wish I weren’t so desperately in debt right now…>_< Someday I'm gonna have to scrape together enough money!
But seriously, you’ve done a lovely job on them. I can’t wait to see your other releases.
Wow! I’ve never seen a praying mantis in person, that is too cool. (Wish we had fun insects like that around here…all I ever seem to see are ants flies and carpenter bees!). And the bunnies are adorable, I’d let them eat my garden any day. XD
Of course, that may be because the local bunny population replaced the local skunk population. ^_~
Nexus is fantastic. I’ve always loved your sculptures, and this little guy has such charisma…he’s adorable!
Oh, they’re so lovely, I adore the burma. I love that adolescent dragon most of all though…such a smile on that one!
Oh, your work is so gorgeous, I don’t know how I missed it for so long…your sculptures have such life and character to them. And so cute! I sculpt too so I know how much work must have gone into them, and it truly shows…they’re fabulous. Especially the snaildragons! I wish I weren’t so massively in debt right now…>_<
Oh! They’re so adorable! I love them to bits. ^_^ They’re all so cute and unique, they’re awesome.
I know somebody who ended up keeping an injured starling; they are super-smart! And they take to people surprisingly easily. It may end up eventually mimicking you; they’ve got very good vocal skills.
Your plushies are adorable! Gosh but I wish I knew how to sew. That little gray foxy-looking one in the last picture is cute as can be.
I can’t wait to see shots of that one. I still long to own an Emperor someday. *wistful sigh*
These are lovely, particularly the second one (I really like the sculpt of the first one too, I’m just not as fond of bright colors). Great stuff!
March 10, 2008 at 4:53 am in reply to: Creatures from El – update about postal, etc progress! #655538God her work is gorgeous. That red dragon is magnificent–EVERYTHING is magnificent. The detail is incredible, it must have taken forever. Your friend is truly talented. (where is spare cash when I need it? ;_; ).
And shame on me, but I’d kill to know what her secret strengthener is! *wistful sigh* I can understand why she’d want to protect a trade secret though.
Jennifer wrote:Ahhaha! I always thought that your sculpey dragons were Windstone-inspired. 🙂 They just have that ‘look’ to ’em. I’ve loved your felted dragons for eons. Beautiful. If you ever make ’em for sale please lemme know. I’m in the poor house right now, but someday…
Thank you! I’m so flattered that you like them. ^_^ I’ve been seriously tempted lately to start selling, because I’m in the poor house too (living in Boston is so expensive!), so I’m doing a lot of experimenting trying to teach myself to work faster. I wish I weren’t so slow.
And yeah, the influence isn’t even deliberate, it’s more like…like I encountered Windstones at such a young age that certain things got imprinted on my internal ‘template’ of what a dragon should look like. Other people have commented that my stuff reminds them of Windstones, and every time it makes me preen and cringe simultaneously–preen because it’s a wonderful compliment to be compared to your sculpting idol, but cringe because I don’t want people to think I’m trying to imitate! ^_^;; (The only reference I ever *let* myself use is my background in comparative anatomy 🙂 ). But the “look” is definately there.
