I like the idea of blue or teal eyes, but I agree, sometimes light eyes in dark sculpts give the deer-in-the-headlights look. But I also think plain brown eyes get lost and you lose the cool ‘follow me’ effect.
So my vote is for that gunmetal color. Just light enough to see, matches the silver nicely, and not so dark it gets lost. It also goes with just about any gem color, but I’d love to see citrine, peridot, or light blue, personally.
Ooh, Torch is pretty!
October 13, 2014 at 9:23 pm in reply to: Looking for Specific Porcelain Breyer Palomino Parade horse #920636You should post this on MH$P as well. I don’t have it, but it’s a gorgeous model, good luck!
I really like the Blue roans as well! In my opinion as a horse color aficionado, grulla and Blue roan don’t really look that much alike, at least the ones I’ve seen don’t look alike.
I also think it’d be super cute if we had unis in muted colors (kinda fantasy tones I suppose) sorta like some of the red foxes I’ve seen in the recent GB batch, they’re very soft and whimsical and I think would love fabulous on the unis with silver horns and it’d look fine if the colors from the mane/tail bleed onto the body since the whole look would be those soft muted colors tones so any splotches would work in this situation.
Here are some of those muted colors on the red foxes that I think could translate very well and beautiful on the Unicorns. Of course not in these exact patterns but, the colors in general! The eye colors could be a nice doe-y brown or even light lavenders or blues.
Siamese cat unicorns?
I like the idea of siamese colors. Maybe with just a bit of striping, or a dorsal stripe?
I am trying to come up with new unicorn colors. I think plain snow white with silver horn and chain, and blue eyes. These are plain vanilla, but they are pretty and look different enough from the off-white color of the old “white” unicorns to be a new color.
I might try them in jet black with silver chain and horn too.I test painted a few blue roan unicorns, but they look an awful lot like the “grulla” color.Maybe too close, though they would have silver horns.
I am test painting “Autumn leaf” again for the dragons. I would like to do that as a limited production color.
Oh please let the black unicorns have blue, or even that dark silver color for eyes instead of just brown. Brown eyes on black sculpts look a little creepy to me sometimes, like shark eyes. 0_0 I would love to get a black unicorn though! (I prefer the black over white, but the socks and blaze always killed it for me on the old ones so I’d be spazzed to see jet black unis come out 😀 Maybe one or two colors of interference paint on them in places just a little tiny bit, so they’re kind of irridescent? yeah? Yeah?
Also, I would LOVE to see the autumn leaf color from the September raffle griffin go production. SO pretty!
These are small sitting foxes. A grey fox and another red fox.
*Squee!* Red fox buddies!
Melody, will you be painting Grab Bag Young Poads at some point? It’s going on 2 years since we’ve had a batch! D:
Eventually! I am on shuffle-mode with the various species of gbs. Unicorns, dragons, foxes, cats, poads, kirins…gotta mix ’em up.
Did I hear kirins? Yessssss! Glad they’re not next in line though. Foxes are remarkably adept at chewing holes in wallets, it turns out.
VERY cool looking! Nicely done!
Ha, stormbreeze, I bet your fox has a soulmate among the lady cats! He looks just like a calico 😀
Oh, I am excited for Snerl! I hope he ends up with claws to matche the other griffin!
I would like a folded wings peg too!
September 29, 2014 at 11:12 pm in reply to: Grab Bag Pebble RED Fox Show Off thread! 09/25/14 #919789My two came today! Earliest I’ve received a GB yet!
First is a whiteface moonglow with a sort of dark, chevron shaped mask and light brown antiquing. She’s warm gray and cream tones, but is hard to photograph because she’s got a rather glossy finish:
That last one’s the best I could get of her mask, the chevron marking is really quite crisp, and comes to a neat point around her ears! She will be for trade, if anyone’s interested!September 29, 2014 at 11:12 pm in reply to: Grab Bag Pebble RED Fox Show Off thread! 09/25/14 #919790Fox number 2 is a ‘pearl’ colored fox with a black face and small white muzzle! Her finish is more matte. She will be for trade, if anyone’s interested!
September 29, 2014 at 10:45 pm in reply to: Grab Bag Pebble RED Fox Show Off thread! 09/25/14 #919783Thought this might be helpful for describing what colors we have…as I’ve just discovered, it’s very difficult to take a picture that shows their color properly! (if you right click and ‘open image in new tab’ it will be big enough to read the text)
I second squeak so hard for this.
It’d be great for horse memorial stuff, too.
