They are finished, though there are only 8 of them.

(Starts counting pennies… must have money for vacation, but don’t want to miss getting a Birman the second time…)
I could deal with a small pink dragon, like a curlie perhaps, but that is about it I think. Not too keen on the color and a big dragon just wouldn’t appeal to me.
I agree. I love that silvery blue color on the oriental too.
Wow! Congrats Drag0n and congrats Nuke! That is one seriously good looking griffin! 😀
I would like to donate blood, but have too many problems with it to be able to. Unless I am laying out absolutely flat and a pediatric needle is used, I pass out in under 5 seconds. It could be a single vial, it could be 16 (had 16 taken out once for testing when I was really sick before being diagnosed for CFS). I’m pretty weak and takes me 1-2 days to recover to the point that I could go back to work. I get really woozy after shots too. The shot needle doesn’t bother me, so not sure why that is. I don’t watch the needle going in and I say ‘OW’ and have someone distract me, so it doesn’t hurt so much for the needle insertion, but my body just doesn’t seem to like anything in it that shouldn’t be there I guess. 😕
My bloodtype is unknown. It’s never been tested. I do have it narrowed down to possibilities though (I know my parents’ blood types).
I apparently seizured the first time I got an IV though. Supposedly I was so scared of it, my body seizured from the immense fear. My dad worked me up about it though too (oh, the needle will be this big!), which didn’t help. I’ve had several IVs since without such a reaction and now I know what to expect more (I was younger back then). Just a fluke incident 🙄 I guess it’s just best if needles and I stay away from each other 🙂
Whether they buy the out of town excuse or not, whether you choose to see them is really up to you. If you live in your own place, you really don’t have to see them. You could always visit/stay with a friend for a few days, not answer the phone etc. You can always just say, no. If they ask, you can tell them why. As bad as it sounds, I’ve hung up on my mother and one of my brothers before when they were getting unreasonable. They weren’t listening and had it in their own heads what they wanted to hear. I’ve screened my calls when I’ve been very busy or just too tired or upset to be bothered with people. I did this a lot in college, or I’d mute my phone. My housemate couldn’t understand why I wouldn’t answer the phone the minute it rang all the time (I’d let it go to the answering machine). I’d call people back eventually (if it was warranted) or just catch them at the next class/meeting/etc. Sometimes you just need to do it for stress/sanity/piece of mind and need a break from the drama. Sometimes you just have to stick to your guns! 8) Then again, I adore my privacy and like escaping from the world for a day or two every now and again.

Pfffftht! I love my griffy! *hugs the griffy* 8)
If someone doesn’t doesn’t hold up their end in a swap, I think they should not be allowed to do the next one. This is only fair. Other than extenuating circumstances (unexpected health, etc.), it’s kind of crappy to not submit a swap piece, especially if one is received.
I think a phone number should be provided with swap info, for use in the case of emergencies or if email isn’t working for communication (ie. no response after, say 2 weeks – in case of vacation, computer down time, etc.). If a person is going to be late or isn’t able to finish their piece, they should have the courtesy to contact whomever is maintaining the swap info (in this case dragonmedley) before the deadline, so that appropriate steps can be taken. If late, dragonmedley could let the receiver know that it will be late. If it can’t be finished, something can be worked out… maybe sending the swap piece to someone who can finish it? Perhaps a list of volunteers could be had as sort of a standby, updated for each swap (since people’s schedules change)?
If I ever get a custom hotrod/rat rod… I will have some of these custom paints used. Worth the cost for a car… but not so much on a pyo (unless there is leftover from a car…). Some of those colors are just delicious! I think the only thing I’d really go for is some of the paints in a spray or smaller red model paints. I just can’t find anything decent in red that is a basic acrylic tube paint.
Nice pics!
Hehe… Just noticed the arrivals/departures pic from Disney and was like, Tatooine… that’s not terribly far for a space ship to go…
(Just watched a travel show and found out Tatooine is actually in Tunisia… where the 3 most recent Star Wars films were filmed… Anakin’s home is actually a hotel built into the desert ground). 😆
Not sure of the name of it, but it is highly unlikely you will find it ready made in a paint or automotive store. It’s a specialty paint that either has to be specially ordered and/or specially mixed. If you go to an autobody shop (not just a parts store), they should be able to order some for you, or at least point you in the direction of someone who can. It’s pretty expensive paint and only really used for custom stuff, so not something that a shop would normally keep in stock. If it’s not something already mixed, I’m betting it’s a powder added to a clearcoat. A lot of speciality paints, like color shift effects paints (ie. paints that change color depending on the angle you look at them, like green to red, silver to gold, blue to purple) are done this way, applied in multiple coats over a base. I know the Matrix FX paints work this way at least.

And I love them – I can brush them on finished parts so that I don’t mess them up while I’m still working on the unfinished bits. 🙂
They work ok with the Golden paints then? I use the krylon sealers, but come winter, my only option (when it’s frigid out) is the garage, after the wood stove has been going, but even then, it doesn’t get warm enough to really use sealers if it is a good cold snap. Also means carrying a PYO down a flight of stone steps that are probably covered in snow and a little bit of ice. Hoping this is a viable solution for winter!
Other than bills, saving a little away, and college loans (which suck up a lot of my income – should have gone to college overseas :x) I generally spend my free money on windstones. I throw in a cd/dvd/anime stuff in here and there, or just stuff that strikes my fancy. Occassionally I get another swarovski, fenton, or breyer piece, but they go in random shots. Summer I tend to have the Ren Faires, but this year, I’m only going to one (Labor Day Sunday), and won’t have a lot of money to spend this year (paid off my sword last year), but I have a vacation at the end of Sept. and I really need to make sure I have enough on hand for it, since I will be road tripping alone in Canada. I generally have more money around the end of January (income tax – save some, spend the rest on practical stuff and on something fun).
My actually money trends seem go around when I plan to take big trips/major events (ie. conventions/ren faires) or, the end of last year and early this year, being unemployed. I was laid off for 5 1/2 months (including the entire holiday season), so I had to recover after depleting my savings (still working that back up). Unless I have to (like hotel reservations), I don’t use my credit cards, so I can pay them off (should be done in early 2008 without short changing myself). All my ebay and windstones are done out of pocket. If I use my credit card, I try to put the same amount on it when I get paid. Knocking out the college loans one at a time. US higher education is seriously overpriced.
I know I’ve been trying to get some of the special, limited production pieces, saving up for a few of the bigger pieces (Brown OW, scratcher, Birman), getting the smaller pieces (poads, royal hatchers, curls, etc.) while I can. Sorta puts the production pieces and retired pieces I’d like off the top of my list for the time being. I know that, for right now, I have a vacation coming up in a month and need to make sure I set aside some money for food and gas.
