Lets see, its been like 3 years already, wow, well we lost Dad Sept 2009 to ALS, then a year later we had to have my 2 Shiba Inu, Ruffian and Tonka, pts due to age. But things got better from there! We got a new pup later that year, a Shih Tzu who we named Bristol, her mom was a rescue who showed up pregnant, then this spring we got a Poodle/Yorki mix who was in need of a new home at a year old, so we are back up to three dogs since Gage is still around, he will be 5 next month, Bristol will be 2! We still have Casper the cat he is almost 19 now, and Paper is 3.5 years old now, gah time flys!

Lets see Ill add some pictures for everyone!
    This is Bristol:

No pictures of the cats, sorry, they are hubby’s so I dont have any in my photobucket it would seem.

Other than that we have just been geeking out, going to Star Trek conventions, and other Geeky festivals as well, LOL, and working of course, always working.

I havent gotten a single Windstone in all this time, been recovering from the losses and had to stay away to keep from buying them, LOL.

So is there some special trick to adding photos now?

Find some diatomaceous earth, food grade if you can, it is safe for pets and people, heck some use it as dewormer!

Proper breeders do not contribute to over population, one of my criteria before I would consider someone a reputable breeder is if they rescue as well. Any breeder who is even somewhat respectable takes back ANY dog they bred at any age, my Male Shibas breeder went through hell and back when she found out one of her shelties was in an SPCA several hours from her and 10 years old, she got him, and kept him until he passed, but true reputable breeders also rescue as well. I have done the rescue thing, both our cats, and both my current dogs, and i am happy with that decision, will I do it again, perhaps, but after spending $6000 on surgeries for Gage I will think twice. I would rather spend the $2000 for a well bred Mastiff from health tested lines.

Keeping foxes is not necessarily all that it’s cracked up to be. Foxes do not equal dogs or cats.. even domesticated foxes!
Be completely sure of what you are getting into.

I’d highly recommend contacting and talking to my friend Foxfeather (yes this is her legal name) as she has kept foxes and can give you the low down on what it really means to share your home with them.

I am glad they are neutering them, its not about cornering the market its about preventing unwanted/unneeded litters!

If people just stopped breeding these animals, there would be no more of them. I do not like altered animals unless there is a reason that they shouldnt be bred(health issue, etc). If that farm/lab were to get a disease and they all died… no more domestic fox? It does not help to have all eggs in one basket etc.

I dont condone the ‘mill’ breeders. What Im talking about is responsible people who know what they are doing who want to breed the best animals(the top 1% as the youtube video implies) and improve the breed/species. If those types of breeders dont exist then eventually the animal doesn’t exist. What the lab has done is created something… the domestic fox. And this could be lost for future generations if no one else continues it.

As for checking up on them… I dont suppose you remember the Ashera cat fiasco? The supposed serval/wildcat/bengal hybrid that people were trying to push for $20,000 when it turned out they were just Savannah cats(serval/bengals)? I just recommended being safe. 6000 is a lot to lose.

As they just barely started selling them as pets I would imagin they at some point would look into it, once they have more contacts, but to start right off the bat, nope dont blame them one bit. As they have been doing this for some 50 years and have yet to loose all of their foxes i would hazard they know what they are doing in preventing diseases. How many un-altered Ferrets have you seen in a pet shop? I have never ever seen one anywhere, yet there is certainly no shortage of them in the market place and rescues. This way they can guarantee that no one is a)crossing their foxes with wild foxes and b)that no one else can sell wild caught fox pups (cubs?) as Siberian Foxes. Look at the fiasco that is the “Labradoodle” gimmick.
