You summed it up! It’s both funny… AND scary all at once!!!
At my job, we’re constantly getting deliveries from UPS. Luckily there are two people that deliver. The one in the morning is incredibly nice, kind, and gentle with all of the packages… And the one in the afternoon is a complete terror! I always catch the guy flinging boxes out of the van only to slam into the pavement (even when they’re marked as fragile)! He’s been scolded by my boss for it, but it sure hasn’t stopped him from doing it.
(It makes me cringe at the thought of him -or any other delivery person- doing that to Windstone boxes. They’re far too precious to be thrown like that!)

Like you mentioned, it probably IS a far better way to label them as “heavy”! That would create a much higher survival rate for our Windstones! 😉If you like places that are notorious for being creepy, check this website out! One of my friends goes away every year around Halloween to the creepiest places in the US. I know he bases a lot of his decisions from this website (below). He says that so far, none of them have ever disappointed him!
(One of these days, I would LOVE to go to these areas! They sound like so much fun!)(“Overnight Frights: 9 Spooky Stays”)

If you’re ever in New Jersey, there is a fun activity that quite a number of people do here. All you need is a book or some magazines called “Weird NJ” that chronicle all of the strangest places, events, and myths throughout the state. If you use it as a travel guide, you can visit a tremendous amount of really unusual places throughout New Jersey that are considered strange, haunted, and abandoned. They’ve been investigating places since 1989, so the places to visit seem endless!
(*The creators of “Weird NJ” have branched out to other states over the past few years. So if you go to a different state, it’s worth checking to see if they have any “Weird (state) ” magazines to use as a travel guide!)

Now for a step in a different direction: There is also Moab, Utah. I went there a couple years ago and it seriously was one of the best places I have ever gone to in my entire life! Not only is the area beautiful, but the people there are so friendly and patient, and there’s endless amounts of activities to do! 🙂 So if that sounds like something you’d be interested in, here is their website!I hope this helps!
All you need are some traditional, tiny, 0.16 ounce packets of Kool-Aid that you find in any supermarket! Although it’s not advertised on the cover, they actually don’t have any sugar in them because you’re supposed to add it in later when you make the mixture!
So if you just add water to the powder, it creates a scented (and flavored) watercolor. And the scent wouldn’t bother me at all! The little Tea pup has a very light, almost non-existent scent to him, but it’s actually very pleasant!
Thank you for the suggestions, Amy Jane! Believe it or not, if you mix unsweetened kool-aid packets with water, you can create wonderful, non-sticky watercolor paint! (Who would have thought that you can actually paint with kool-aid, right?!) And it leaves your artwork smelling so nice! I remember having to use it when I was younger in one of my art classes. I was so surprised at how well it turned out! 🙂

-And Dragonmelody, that’s brilliant! It completely reminds me of that song too! Maybe after I paint my next Foo-Pup like this, I’ll wrap him up in in a blue box with blue tissue paper and stick a blue bow on it. Then I’ll make a blue card and write it out with a blue marker and give it to him while playing “Blue” by Eiffel 65 in the background. Maybe if I do all of that, my boyfriend will finally be satisfied! Hahaha… 😉You’re Ki-Rins look incredible, Hannah! I can’t get over how much detail you put into both of them. (I especially love how you painted the horn on the Zombie Ki-Rin! It completely adds the perfect touch!) 🙂
Thank you for your compliments! It’s so funny. I think my little “Tea” Foo Pup came out nicely, but my boyfriend took one look at him and said, “…You should have painted him blue. Foo Pups are blue. They want to be blue. It’s their favorite color.” And then he started scrolling through all the pictures on here and pointed out all the pups with blue on them. In the end, he turned to me and said, “See? Blue. Foo Pups like blue and your Foo Pup has no blue. Now he’s sad that he’s not blue. So make him blue! And then he will be happy. Because he will be blue…” <3
I don’t know what his sudden obsession with Blue Foo Dogs is all about, but it did make me laugh. So now, I want to paint a Blue Foo Dog and give it to him. Since painting with Tea worked out so nicely, maybe I’ll give blue Kool-Aid a try! (He’ll surely smell super yummy if I do that!) Hahaha… 🙂
August 15, 2012 at 10:18 pm in reply to: Re-stocking some Curlies, Baby Slate Grulla Unicorns, and adding Mother Pegasus #884861I watched the one for the Pzwalski’s Pegasus. I clicked on it the moment it was listed and at that moment, I only saw 4 in stock. Within literally a second, they were “out of stock”. (That’s so crazy!)
I did, Etruscan! All I did was take a very watered down cup of tea and use a paintbrush to cover the whole piece with it so it had a very pale color to it. Then I used a half a cup of tea (with two teabags in it) to try and darken certain areas on the piece. Since the Pup took the stain slowly, I just went over those areas repeatedly until I was happy with the color! It was so super easy and it even left him smelling great! Hahaha! 🙂
Melody’s tea-stained Foo Mother made me fall in love so much with the coloring that I figured I’d give it a try on a Pup! (I love the way he came out!)
(He met one of my kitties before his “photo shoot”!)
(Indoors)
The felt pads that they send with the PYOs are actually like stickers! The gray pad just peels away from the brown paper and “voila!” You have a nice adhesive pad for your Windstones!
Opal, I’d swear that little Foo Puppy you painted was an Ebay piece! You did such an excellent job painting him! (And you did it so fast! When you did you get him?)
WOW!!! Is he super teeny-tiny or what?! (I was wondering how small he was going to be) Thank you for posting pictures, Kalandra! He’s so incredibly cute!
Holy smokes!!! You’ve got quite an impressive collection of Fuzzies, Bodine! Big Blue looks so happy and “at home” snuggling up to all of his friends! 🙂
Your phoenix is painted so beautifully, it left me speechless when I first laid eyes on him! (No lie!) 🙂
