Uh… Did that just happen? *blinks* I think it did… I wasn’t even watching thinking I had no chance, but uh… yea… so that happened. O.o
Yeah, it did xD Congrats on the Koi Mother!!
Holy crap! I totally just put a bid in for fun and walked away fully aware I’d get outbid. I worked on a repair for a few minutes, made some hot chocolate and sat back at my computer and saw it had ended. when I ever saw the price I was like “Uh…. wait….WHAT?!?” So glad I had the money saved. Guess I’m gonna wait another few months to get that dent taken out of the door on my car. LOL!
Congratulations on winning such a nice piece! But also my sympathies on the blow to your savings.

https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_nameNice colors, Dragoneer! Good choices for Puck and it’s nice that you incorporated his hair color.
Thanks! Figured I’d jump right in and go with bold colors for this first pyo. 😉 I’m glad you like the hair color choice. I felt like if I didn’t incorporate the hair color the PYO would lose a bit of “character”. No pun intended. 🙂 He might need more purple. Maybe on the tail? It seems like there’s too much red.
It looks like you have some nice shading going on with the red. I’m not sure what purple on his tail would add (it depends on application & pattern). It’s hard to say. In times like these, I meditate on ideas with the figure sitting in front of me because it’s such a pain to undo something that you end up not liking.

https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_nameAs for me, I LOVE the fantasy colors. I figure if I want to buy ‘normal’ (what’s ‘normal’ on a mythical animal anyways, lol) I can go buy one of any number of sculpts on the market. I can look at normal everyday outside my window. But ding-dong dang it, I want that blast of color that brings the fantastic to fantasy! 😀 That’s why I like Melody’s sculpts and her (and Windstone’s) wild color schemes. Heck, in July I’d love to see something inspired by fireworks! I’d buy that in a heartbeat!
P.S. No offense intended to anyone who likes the traditional colors on their creatures. I like ’em too. I just highly prefer the fantasy colors.
No problem. I hope nobody minds my negative opinions on various pieces either. It’s a good thing we have different tastes. Imagine if we ALL were competing for one ebay piece! Melody could retire right then. 🙂
Certainly not! Everyone is entitled to an opinion in my opinion. 😉 And variety keeps the world from being boring. And if everyone competed for the same piece constantly I think a little resentment would start up. And I definitely wouldn’t want that because it would ruin the camaraderie the forum members share here.

The white patches are really nicely blended in. I love seeing spots/patches that don’t just look like blobs of paint. 😀

https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_nameGorgeous wolf! I really like the colors you chose. They’re really beautifully arranged and applied (great use of dry brushing!). VERY nice job! 😀 I can definitely see the purple glimmering in the first photo!

I don’t use GAC-100 so I can’t offer an opinion there. I do know that a thick layer of fully dried acrylic sometimes acts similar to a layer of plastic and causes subsequent layers to sort of bead or sit on top unevenly because they can’t absorb into the sculpture/canvas. If that’s the case, then patience is the key.
Ahhh, ok, so it IS normal, as yes, its exactly like trying to paint plastic ! Good thing I do have patience, lol! Thanks for clearing this up for me 🙂
😀 Quite welcome! I’m having a little of that problem with a unicorn I’m painting right now so I feel ya!

https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_nameI have a friend who is trying to submit her PYO’s to the DeviantART group, but they’re not allowing new submissions or something of that sort? Has this been shut down? Or is there something that she may be doing wrong with her posts that isn’t letting her through? – I told her I would ask about it here 🙂
Oh! I’ve had that happen to me. No worries. Just be patient and if her submissions expire, tell her to resubmit them. Sometimes Melody doesn’t get a chance to go on dA to accept them, that’s all. It’ll happen, just takes a little patience from my experience.

One issue Im having though, is the paint that is currently on her seems so glossy, that when I go to add details over top, it doesnt adhere properly, and wont go on evenly. Im not sure if this is normal, or if its from my use of GAC-100 or the retarder. Whatever the cause, it results in my having to painstakingly apply many thin layers over top of the base color to get the desired effects….its rather frustrating at times.

Also, here’s a link to an article about creative writing exercises. It’s humorously written, so even if you don’t like the exercises it’s at least a fun read.
