That is truly gorgeous color and detail work on the Oriole Phoenix! I love the really subtle ghost markings on the inner wings.

https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_nameI certainly hope the opal dragon turns out awesome! I’m gonna kick myself if all this planning flops! -laughs-
😛 That stinks. The washed out colors in some gemstones almost always turns me off. That’s why I think some months are overly lucky. They get their pick of 2 or even three gemstones while other months get stuck with only one! I wouldn’t mind emerald, opal, sapphire or tanzanite…but nope. Clear rock. I don’t care if it’s the hardest crystal known to humankind. I’m an aries/taurus, I’m hard-headed enough as it is! 😉
I have to say I’m super jealous that you have a gem outlet store near you. To my admittedly limited knowledge, my town doesn’t really have any mineral/gem stores. Which makes me sad…but also glad that the internet exists. Thankfully I can always browse online! I’ll have to look up these ‘wildfire’ opals. Fire opals are my favorite kind of opal! SO VIVID!

https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_nameApril? Me too! Yeah…I think diamonds are pretty boring for a birthstone. I always wished April’s birthstone was anything but a clear rock! But I’ve come to appreciate my birth month, if not my birthstone. I’m a cusp!

https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_name😀 One of mine too! I have been planning a PYO dragon piece for the past 2-3 years that I’m going to call ‘Opal Matrix’. 3 years ago I purchased a couple fire opal triplets (one for the tail), 4 lab created opal cabochons (2 of ’em for his eyes) and a tiny 3mm opal cabochon (forehead gem) just for this piece. I even have a blank dragon that I bought a year ago just for the purpose. I have been plotting this little guy for ages. Only recently have I become confident enough to do my idea justice. -cracks her knuckles- Just have to finish a couple things that are ahead of him and I think I’ll be ready to go!

https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_nameGiven that it is almost four days until the auction is over and it is already up to over $800 I have a feeling that won’t be a problem.
I was surprised that Keeper didn’t even go over 1100!

https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_nameAn Important NOTE!
At this time, it is not easily possible to edit posts on the forum. For this reason, my pricing is outdated on the PYO Commission thread. My Terms of Service ARE current, the prices are what’s outdated. If you are interested in commissioning me, please check out my commissions ad on the Classifieds. It is easier to edit an ad, so I will keep my updated prices there for now. My current Terms of Service can be found seperately on the PYO Commission thread.

https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_name😀 Thank you all so much! I will say I wasn’t sure about his facial markings until near the end. Once I finished them up they finally began to pop! I’m trying to expand my comfort zones (bright colors) so it’s nice to hear feedback on him.
Thank you Angelika! ‘Red Flank’ was a fun little guy to do. I was determined to finish him in a day! I’m pleasantly surprised with how much I was able to do on him in just that day. And the best part was how well the metallic red pigment turned out on him!

https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_nameA picture of the ‘Jungle Flame’ Secret Keeper isn’t up yet. But I really can’t wait to comment. She is AMAZING and I hope the bidders do her justice! If she doesn’t go for more than 1500 then…well I apologize for saying it but…shame on the bidders! 😉

https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_nameI got a blank PYO dragon as an anonymous gift from someone on Windstone Edition’s forum. I wanted to do the gift justice so I began looking around on the net for inspiration. I stumbled across Michael Clark’s ‘Cradle of Life’ opal sculpture and Elspeth McLean’s colorful mandala stones. I tried to merge elements from both wonderful artist’s works to create ‘Mendalan Cradle’ here.
‘Mendalan Cradle’
He is painted in blue, orange, cream, light brown, dark brown and gold acrylics. He is varnished in matte with gloss as accents to his dark brown leg scales. His eyes are a metallic orange and his crystals are jonquil colored.
If you’re interested in purchasing him, he is for sale on the Classifieds page. I’d love to keep him because he’s really different from how I normally paint, but finances first.
Note, I am aware than ‘mandala’ is spelled a little off in Mendalan Cradle’s name. Consider it an homage to Gregor Mendel. 😉

https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_nameMany of the factors that lead to a “slow market” have echoes in the collecting and art markets as a whole.
Sales in an election year in the USA are almost always poor for most artists/sellers of artwork, as there is just so much instability and uncertainty.
Demographics have a big play, too. Unfortunately, the generation with the most disposable income is also an aging generation, and fewer young people have the financial ability to collect much, or often, or at higher dollar amounts. There are always exceptions. That said, it’s never wise to “invest” in art or a collectible for its resale value. Buy because you like it, because the market is fickle! As a beginner trying to sell some small items, I’m sometimes left wondering why the market seems so dead. So thank you for this bit of information. I’m sure it also has to do with marketing myself (I have not done a lot with that yet) but it’s good to know other aspects of the situation. So again, thank you Jennifer!

https://www.redbubble.com/people/prezaurian?ref=artist_title_nameIf you can pull the horn out there is another option (other than having Windstone send you another horn). Use spray primer. Primer is designed to stick to any surface and provide you with a fresh surface that will accept new paint. I have used it on lacquered already painted surfaces so I don’t see why it wouldn’t work on a lacquered horn.
And if you can’t get the horn out, you could just primer the entire figure. Horn and all.
