What I like most about the Windstone dragons is their realism. Some of the bright colors take away from the look that they could just get up and walk away at any moment.

The multi-colored ones have so much color going on, even though they are stunning to look at, you visually lose the detail of the dragon.

So my vote goes to the 2-color sharply contrasted, I’m not sure which ‘old browns and greens’ are being referred to in the other 2-color category. If it’s the ones from 1984, they are too glossy looking for me. I prefer the satin shine (more lifelike to me).

Tintaglia, my old greens purchased in ’86 have a matte/satin finish; actually the only one out of 6 with a glossy finish is the fledgling (of which I like the paint job least of all my OGs, mostly because of the gloss).

I voted the blended 2 colors, for just the reason Tintaglia mentioned in the beginning of her post- the sculptures are so realistic, you want a paint job that bolsters the illusion.
The old green and brown (with satin finish, not glossy) did a far better job at naturalism than any of the other colors, in my opinion. Although I don’t own a brown, it is my 2nd favorite color after OG. (just don’t care for the blue eye with it, or black and gold, which also ‘works’)

I don’t really care for the monotones, and the metallic/high gloss finishes don’t work for me- they detract from the realism. Also I agree with DM, you start getting more than 3-4 colors, and it gets so busy it detracts from the sculpt.

Interesting to see everyone’s ideas on their ‘ideal’ dragons!

I don’t care for the VF, although I’ve only seen pictures, so maybe I’m not getting the proper effect. It just looks too garish for me (lol the pimp comment, that’s it exactly). But then, if I won the lottery I’d buy the factory a batch of old green paint, just so that I could buy what I really wish for- and several people have mentioned their dislike for that color, think it’s too bland.
I wouldn’t go for the anthro wolf- absolutely lovely work, but I don’t care for any human influence in artwork (my biggest problem with some McFarlane and Enchantica pieces is they have people or buildings in them). I like my things to look like wild animals, and have a misanthropic streak, so…
If it were a PYO, I can see getting one to paint and sell, though.
Thr hippogriff is handsome, but I propbably wouldn’t get him either. I go for the dragons (would love the slender black dragon and the garden dragon!).

I’m sorry to hear about the spate of bad luck with the dragons.:(
I think, if you claim insurance on it though, that the post office will keep the remains, so you won’t have anything left to fix/sell.:(

My daughter had the vaccine as a baby. Then for a surprise 7th birthday present last year, she got the chicken pox! It was mild though. No vaccine is 100% effective, and that one has a lower success rate than some.
Shingles isn’t what happens when an adult is exposed to chicken pox. That would be a super-hellacious bout of flulike pox. The herpesvirus that causes chicken pox remains latent in the system of the people who have had it, to reactivate in later life along the nerves. That’s shingles- so it affects people who’ve already had chicken pox, not the never exposed.

I get those too! Only, I’m getting into big fights with the other kids again- I didn’t mind the schoolwork or teachers (except for homework, I boycotted it and that got me in trouble) and usually did well on tests if I wanted to. It was the other kids that made it hell for me! wish I could have been homeschooled.
Maybe you could throw an old warrior and payment stub from a secret keeper at the principal’s head and tell her so much for a passing grade? (of course dreams do their won thing, but it would be fun!)

Here’s my male; now that I look closely, he is ‘squintier’ on his non-display side than his display side, though there is a downward fold to the eyelid on both sides. I don’t have another male to compare him to. He also has much more brown on the non-display side! He was purchased in 1986.

Actually, Lippizaners aren’t the only horses born dark that turn grey/white. Very few- almost none, and they’re a very specific rare mutation- foals are born white. You can pretty much bet that any grey or white horse you see of any breed was born a darker color and turned white. White is called grey even if the horse has become totally white, and is sort of like a color overlaid on the horse’s true color. Foals that will become grey are often a little darker/duskier in tone than others that will remain their birth color (interesting- black horses are also not born black, but a mousy grey color. True black newborns will almost always grey out). There will usually be a few white hairs near the eyes if you look. As his coat sheds out, his face will get progressively lighter- that’s where it starts. Then the body lightens, with many horses developing a lot of white in their manes and tails, others staying darker there. Some also develop a dappling pattern. (You can tell a roan, which has a grey or pinkish[from a red base color] body, from a grey at the grey or pinkish stage by the white face on the grey and the dark face on the roan.) Some horses grey very quickly, and will look white by the time they’re 1-2 years. Others may still be very dark into their 20’s.

No true albino with pink eyes has ever been reported in horses, according to scientific literature.

Sorry for the novel; I grew up around Arabians, for whom grey is one of the most common colors. My family still has them.
I’d guess that the horse in the photo is a perlino, possibly one of the Paso breeds. They have heavy manes like that (as do Andalusians); they also have the palomino/buckskin dilution gene (Andalusians don’t I think). Homozygous dilutes (perlinos and cremellos) usually have blue eyes and light skin I think, though that gene isn’t in ‘my’ breed, so I’m no expert.

We have a couple of bottles of old green paint left. That reminds me, I was going to paint a few more old green fledgies for those who missed out on them. I don’t like mixing paint. We had this paint custom mixed for us, and to get more premixed we would need to order a lot. How many of you guys would want more dragons painted in old green? I don’t get the feeling that that color is in as much demand as the old brown was.

But would it be the green-on-green version of the latest Old Greens, or would they have the nice orange-brown patches that the older Old Greens had? I liked the orange-brown–it gave the green colors a lot more punch and seemed to give the figures more depth. Just green on green isn’t as appealing.

I guess the main difference is that Old Green with orange-brown accents would have me pounding at the factory doors waving a fistful of cash, whereas Old Green without the brown accents would only make me sedately place an order the minute I saw it. 😉

Ditto what Barrdwing said! (except for favorite figure, points to siggie)
I already have the fledge; my choices would be:
                      1. Prototype OW
                      2. Secret Keeper
                      3. Hatching Royalty (all 3)
                      4. Lap and Scratcher (they go together to me)
                      5. Coils (all 3)

Basically, every dragon that wasn’t released in OG (or has yet to be released period) I’d get in it!

The OG was BY FAR my favorite color; I prefer the more matte finish to it, especially the older ones with tan accents, like Barrdwing said. It looks more ‘realistic’ to me somehow. I think the idea of adding a little interference shimmer to the darker areas as on the emperor (forget who suggested it but great idea) would be a wonderful way to add more visual punch, while still keeping it more naturalistic.
It seemed to sell well then, and comments in general seem to indicate enough interest in it to do limited sales like the browns have currently.

Please more OGs? *puppy dog eyes*
