I wanted to edit my first post in here and the thread title, but it won’t seem to let me for some reason. Figured I’d just post my update here.
I believe I finished tweaking things with the story and it’s now available to read at fanfiction.net. I still have to post the last few chapters but I’ll have them up soon. They’re done but I guess I just tend to take my time with things, haha.

I was born and raised in Carmichael, CA. I moved here to Colorado Springs, CO at age 19 in 2006 to be with my boyfriend I’d met online in a car chatroom a couple of years before (and we had been visiting each other back and forth), and he’s now my husband.
I miss CA so much it’s not even funny! Although I really dislike CO weather, I don’t openly complain about it all that much. One time when I did make a post about it on Facebook, my aunt (in CA) said something to the effect of “Hey, you chose Colorado!” I responded, “No, I did not choose Colorado over California- I chose Christopher!”
Where I lived was pretty much perfect. People assume I experienced earthquakes or fires, but I never experienced any of those things. California’s a big state, folks. I’ve been much closer to wildfires here than I ever was there! And tornadoes and… yeah. Yikes. Let’s not even start about the winter weather here or the fact that pretty much the only rain here is nasty summer rain. It thunderstorms all summer here in the afternoons. Is that frickin’ crazy or what?!
In CA I wasn’t in a particularly big city but not a small town either. Carmichael is near Sacramento (in fact I was right on the border of Sacramento county). It was busy enough and we had plenty of everything you’d expect. My family had 3 acres and horses but we were not out on the outskirts or anything.
I’d love to move back to the area one day, but my husband doesn’t want to. It’s definitely not worth divorcing, lol. I try not to think much about how much I don’t like it here or I could just totally end up stewing about it, lol. At least it’s a bit more affordable to live here!

Congrats on the car AND on learning to drive stick! That’s so great. It’s a fading skill! (And not that many new cars even come in manual!) I was lucky enough to learn it early since one of my parents’ cars was stick, and I really wanted to learn since I’m a little bit of a car enthusiast. Like you, I found it frustrating at first- I had a few stick-driving lessons with my mom in a residential neighborhood, and I killed it so many times until I got the hang of getting the revs to the right level before letting the clutch out. Venturing onto busier streets was a bit nerve-wracking because people honked at me if I killed it when it was time to go at an intersection. But once I got good at it, it was so fun! I now own the car I learned to drive stick in; even though Hondas aren’t my style, this one is sentimental to me, and my parents offered to give it to me for free since they were gonna donate it, so hey! It’s a good gas saver for me! 🙂
Anyway (sorry!), it’s so great that your dad helped you buy the car and that you got one you like so much. 😀

Heh, I can’t really afford to buy myself things around Christmas in addition to buying presents for family! I’ve asked for Windstones from my husband before but to no avail, lol. Ah well. Maybe one of these years!
