Thanks! The bird is from a small series so once I finish the others I bought I’m going to frame them too. It may end up being a while since I have a bunch of other items to finish first.
Please enter me in the raffle, thank you!
Hello again. Local reporter Mika is back with another Craft Store Report!
When I was at Michaels a few days ago I saw this turntable on clearance for $10! It’s marketed for paint spinning and pouring but it is more than big enough to hold a Windstone PYO figure. It has a fairly smooth surface so it won’t scratch off the paint if you have to move the figure around.
Mileage will vary as to whether or not it’s in your store, but it might be worth checking out anyways.
Also I finished a cross stitch kit and found the perfect frame for it.
Lastly… Funky Chicken plush.
The old Orientals are hard to cast and clean. The sitting one was supposed to fix that issue but it hasn’t been in the store for quite some time. If I had to guess, the clean ones are becoming test paints because it’ll bring in the $$$.
I wish you luck hunting down an Oriental. They are not cheap but some do pop up in the Facebook group.
The prices shot up dramatically a couple of years ago and have stuck around the 700-1000 range (or even higher for popular figures/colors as can still be seen). I doubt that things will go back to the 2016 era prices but it is nice to think that there’s a chance to get an affordable test paint.
Is it same for the other lines, like the ki-rin and unicorns, or is it just the dragons that have shot up like that?
Everything went up. It was normal for the baby ki-rins to go for 700+. The adult griffin sculpts tended to breach the 1k mark.
Some of the dragon Sculpts have had the most dramatic price increase out of all of them. Not really surprising considering the sheer number of variety of figures that are in the dragon line compared to everything else, plus dragons are super popular in general. The prices shot up dramatically a couple of years ago and have stuck around the 700-1000 range (or even higher for popular figures/colors as can still be seen). Is it just me or do the test paint pieces seem to be trending downward in price a bit (for the most part)?

I’ve used alcohol inks. They can bleed between each other and through to acrylic paints. When I used alcohol inks I would varnish them as I went to minimize that bleeding. I wouldn’t use them for detail work.
Thank you! It’s nice to be able to get a unique marbling pattern on these pieces quickly and without any special equipment.
Forgot to post photos here whoops! This is Summertime Strawberries!
The base coat on the body and tails was done using a modified paint pouring technique. Her tails were kept fairly simple in exchange for more detail on the body.
At some point I plan to make a base for the figure. The tricky part is getting the time to work on it.I’m going to squeak for the next grab bag to feature a smaller figure, something like the Tadpoads or baby/young Poad.
From reading things here and in the fb group, a significant number of people missed out on the ponies (even with a whopping 250+ made). And having two back-to-back expensive grab bags feels like it would be a bit too much.I’m sure I made this squeak at an earlier point, but I think it’s still relevant.
Mine arrived today, literally right before I left for work! I had all of 10 seconds to look at it before I left, but I’m pretty sure it’s 223. Blue and orange flames with red eyes.
I’m going to take photos tomorrow and offer it up for trade for one of the ponies I was more interested in.
I’d like to enter the raffle as well, thank you!
