It’s the camera, not the photographer that takes great pics. 😉 The female ducks were friendlier than the males & loved posing for pics. They came by every day at daybreak, and waited for me to fill up the feeders & water. Didn’t even fly away when I’d come outside. They’d come up to the patio window to taunt my cats who flipped out.

The eagles were American bald eagles. We have a couple spots about 50 miles west of here where people have gone to watch the eagles along Illinois & Mississippi Rivers, but until about 5 years ago, they’d never been seen nearby. I live near a forest preserve lake which attracted a pair of eagles to nest. It drew a big crowd & our papers covered it with photos of the nest & birds with webcam watch to see if the eggs hatched.

Audubon has a great app that allows you to post pics of any sightings and allows you to see what species of birds have been spotted nearby. When I saw the eagles & went to the app, it showed hundreds of sightings in my area. Ditto for the mallards, which is how I figured out where they were nesting in nearby ponds in other sub divisons.

Beautiful photo, DragonMedley! We have foxes, coyotes that roam our subdivision during the nights, but I’ve never caught one on camera.

I’ve had some unusual visitors this year at my bird feeder. Lived here 30 years and this was the first year I had two pairs of Mallard ducks eating bird seed from under my feeder and coming for fresh water. One day the female mallard was feeding & got spooked by an Eagle that landed on my bird bath. First year for the eagles too. By the time I got back with camera, he was gone so missed a pic.

I had a pebble wolf do the same thing also supposed to come from Windstone to California but mine went to visit Virginia….fortunately it was an ivory pebble and not a GB so I wasn’t chomping at the bit for it to get to me as much…..

I have a feeling these Windstone critters like to travel once they get out of Windstone factory. 😉

My other two poads took a detour! I’m in SoCal. My poads are vacationing in New York! Hopefully they get cold and head back to me soon!

Bored with the more direct route from Oregon to CA? No wonder USPS says it’ll take longer to deliver mail. Hopefully your poads are done vacationing in NY, but they should definitely avoid the backed up shipping routes in LA ports or they won’t arrive until next year. 🙂

My AL poad arrived a day earlier than expected and she’s lovely. Beautiful burnt orange with birds. Might be willing to trade for any with dragons or red/orange coloring.

I grabbed one also. I’m not a big fan of leaf designs, but am loving the bright colors & critters on the poads. Surprised to see any left this morning. Maybe everyone is getting hit by the high inflation on food & everything prices or saving up for Xmas? Good luck all!

I tried posting a link on facebook straight to this thread and I only got a few people to post here 😔

you tried though! they just didn’t see it buried under all the other posts getting bumped up every time someone comments….le sigh…..

That’s one of the reasons I’m considering getting off FB – TOO MANY EMAILS because of all the posts! I get inundated with enough emails for work, I don’t need to get so many emails and post notifications from FB every time someone ‘likes’ a post or makes a comment. At least on the forum I can choose which threads to ‘subscribe’ to.

You can turn off email notifications. I only have it turned on to show me an icon once I’m in the facebook app.

Yeah, I know it got buried, and it’s frustrating trying to always bump a post for it to stay current.

Yes, email notifications can be turned off but I’m surprised after all the privacy scandals divulged with FB that more folks haven’t left the site. I think the tracking your every move even when logged off FB on other sites should be against the law. It’s a form of stalking, but for profit. I think younger people are less concerned with privacy issues because they’ve not been affected yet with identity theft or stalking and such.

Only time I visit FB is if Melody posts photos on the site on new products. Other than that, I try to avoid.
