Ten years, I don’t believe it! Although looking at how my collection grew exponentially after joining the forums, I guess I should 😀

Yes, what is it with joining the forums and a collection explosion? Everyone here is awesome! Happy Brithday Windstone Forum and here’s to many more!

Oh, I could fill this thread too! Mystic Warrior lives here in IL, I saw him about three years ago at a show and didn’t realize who I was seeing at the time. You can’t see his spots anymore really unless he’s wet.
Ava minted design is actually black! Yup! Tested and proved. She’s an extreme example of how LP (leopard pattern gene) can ‘shift’ the base color and make it look like something else. Other black appys can have more of a bronze hue, but are still black.
Most of my reference pics I’ve gotten off the web or Facebook. Maybe I’ll load some up on photobucket and post em.

So how are the ponies coming along? I would love to ‘merge’ my model horse collection with my Windstones!

I don’t think this guy is a ‘true’ dun. There is the specific DUN gene that is tested that causes the primitive markings AND body color dilution. That’s why grullas (who are black with DUN) appear to be different forms of mousy grey. Red duns (chestnut+DUN) are never a dark dark chestnut, always a lighter red with the primitive markings being darker. Dunskins (Buckskin+dun) are always on the lighter side of buckskin as well.
There are a newly discovered genes that they are calling nd1 and nd2. These stand for non-dun 1 and non-dun 2. These genes cause the primitive markings you see, but DO NOT dilute the body color. They have found the nd genes in Arabians, which do not have the DUN gene present in the gene pool. There is now a commercial test for nd1 and nd2 so lots of people have been testing their horses that they SWORE were DUN, but actually only carry nd1 and/or nd2. So, because the guy above does not have any dilution to his body color, I would call nd1 and/or nd2 for that guy. 🙂
(Can you tell I’ve been on the equine color genetics Facebook page too much?)

                      These are a must have!!!
I love the paints and the appys, but my absolute favorite would probably be this one:

My favorite color of horse (in real life and model form) has always been a red (blood) with chrome. This one would totally fit the bill as well:

                      And this guy probably:

I’ve collected model horses for all of my adult life, so these guys have me quite excited! Watch, I’ll end up with a red dun and love it to death! There isn’t a wrong color for these guys. Thanks so much Melody!!!!!!!

I listen to movie scores. I like to think they are the modern version of classical music. Like Mozart, Beethoven, etc.
                          I’m currently alternating between
Star Trek (2009 movie version) and Transformers (2007), but I’ve got all three Lord of the Rings movies, Gladiator, Star Wars (all 7 movies, because John Williams is THE MAN), Pirates of the Caribbean….and other odds and ends. I downloaded some Game of Thrones music (from Season 1) because I loved the intro music.

So I asked for a scaled critter based off of this snake:

This is what Kujacker painted for me. I love love love him! He was painted in pastels, and I just love the color on him
