It could be argued that you are taking a photo of the sculpture and therefore have creative input that way, which works for items and scenes that are not a copyrighted art piece, but not for Windstones. The subject of your photo is still copyrighted no matter how nice your photo is.
Most people who use DA don’t actualy read the Terms of Service. Every time you post something to DA though, you are agreeing to the terms of service. The TOS of DA covers what Nam said above. Quote from DA TOS:
” Individuals who have posted works to deviantART are either the copyright owners of the component parts of that work or are posting the work under license from a copyright owner or his or her agent or otherwise as permitted by law. You may not reproduce, distribute, publicly display or perform, or prepare derivative works based on any of the Content including any such works without the express, written consent of deviantART or the appropriate owner of copyright in such works.”In other words, even if you take a nice photo of something you purchased, unless you have expressed permission from the copyright owner, it’s against the DA TOS to uplaod it to the website.
Each company that makes and sells things is different. Some are more laxed, some fall under “fair use”, some offer their items or images as ‘stock’ which is a permission to use in other artforms.
But like Nam pointed out, in this case Windstone holds ownership and we have permission to post the pyo’s we paint as collaborative artwork on DA, but not the production pieces.
Now, I’m not posting this to point fingers at any one or stomp on any ones idea here. This is only for clarification and informing.
I do very much like the DA pyo group and I love seeing photos of peoples collections and items on the forum here.
I have a slight issue with the idea of a DA group for production windstones. It has to do with that DA is primarily supposed to be for art done by the people posting…i.e. We paint the pyo’s, so we contributed to that. Melody sculpted and paints the production pieces, so her submission contribute that art.
But I have concern of it confusing other artist, especially younger ones if a group was made to share the production pieces and a lot of production pieces get posted to da, as if it was a photobucket, buy collectors that did no work on those pieces.
It bothers me a little to post works that aren’t done by said DA artist.Especialy when DA automaticly adds a coppyright to the artist on every submission. Here is a copy-paste of what it says under one of my digital painting on DA:”

No, it wasn’t me. there was another person on here that had some she did, but they were on her personal website.
The ones I have made I never posted publicly because of the infringement issue. So any line art I share I would also ask people not to post publicly at all. You can share them privately, like if you need to show a commissioner what the colors would look like, but they couldn’t be for public display.
I have one that people can use, and I am willing to share, for both the Keeper and Griffin. And some old ones I did for the small dragon, wolf, and kirin.
Pm me for the info.
Try posting this to the store? I don’t think any one will see it here because they are afraid of missing them.
Those look so awesome! I love these grab bags!!!! I can’t wait to see how they look once they get shipped out.

I do that too! every time I get something new, I almost always have to change everything. Things have to be arranged in a certian order. What colors look good together, what look like sets, who are the odballs, who gets to be by the window. I really like it after you finish getting everything re-aranged and then sitting back and looking everything over.
No one has bothered me or my sister ether. So far things have been nothing but nice over here.
I might have pestered one or two for photos though 😛
