I had 155 entries total! 🙂
These were actually for Quest 1! Our very first one! 🙂
So, Susie found a couple more to add to the store after they went out of stock. I didn’t realize they’d ever completely run out. I think it was just a couple of additional ones, but it was an actual restock (if only for a few).
They are genuinely gone gone now (no more round bottom ones). It’s possible there will be a future grab bag for flat bottom ones.
At least these weren’t super grab-baggy! Mostly they look just a smidge off from the tan and sand foxes.
The notify button hasn’t come up yet, so some may still pop out of carts.
I’d imagine that yes, two people grabbed the fox at the exact same time – with the cart reserving the product that has gotten much better (it used to happen a lot more), but it’s probably still possible that if enough people hit the button at precisely the same time that they can both get the same item in their cart and whoever checks out first will really get it.
I think gesso would probably not work terribly well on a PYO, but I’m certainly no expert. I really only paint for the swaps. LOL
If you’re using a heavy-body acrylic, I’d also recommend using a thinner – otherwise you might end up with too thick of paint and lose detail. I think Jennifer (she’s a forum member who eventually became an official Windstone painter and is really good) recommends using Golden fluid acrylics because they allow you to layer without losing detail. Liquidex is also excellent paint, but any heavy-bodied paint might be better off thinned.
I haven’t done many PYOs based on a character versus an animal, but I did do one a couple swaps back. My swapee wanted a PYO based on this character: http://s54.photobucket.com/user/gothicbull/media/full.png.html
Basically, I just used their costume/hair as a basis for the color pallette and tried to apply them in a way that made “sense” with the sculpt.
I know drag0nfeathers has done several PYOs based on characters from anime so she will probably have some great tips. But, even as someone as inexperienced as me CAN do it so I’m sure you can too!
July 19, 2014 at 3:31 am in reply to: 07/14/2014 Fantasy Grab Bag Unicorn Colt Picture Thread! #915791Probably some of them HAVE shown up, but people don’t want to trade them or be hassled about trading them so they aren’t posting photos. I know a lot fewer people post their grab bags than they used to. Generally, we see mostly ones people are looking to trade, not the ones they want to keep. 🙂
Confirmation emails are up to date. I will send out another batch tomorrow, however, I will be out of town on 7/20 and 7/21 – so if you send in your entry on the last day of the contest, you will NOT get a confirmation. If you’d like a confirmation, please make sure you send them in by tomorrow! 🙂
July 18, 2014 at 3:04 pm in reply to: 07/14/2014 Fantasy Grab Bag Unicorn Colt Picture Thread! #915734A lot of people seem to like mine but so far I have not gotten even one trade offer. Hopefully some folks will get more today and perhaps I can dump this guy for something I actually like.
I don’t think that many came in yesterday. 🙂 I’m sure you’ll get offers.
You can do it in a program like Paint which is free on most computers. It won’t always be pretty, but it gets it done.
You could also possibly go get a print out at the library or something – they often have the ability to print a few pages for free or at a low cost.
*BUMP*
Just a reminder, all entries are due by 7/20!!! 🙂
From what I understand, I think they’ll be grab bags.
I believe the ivory, tan, and sand colors will be regular production (and restocks in tan and sand’s case). The others sound like a goof up grab bag 🙂
All confirmation emails (physical and email) are up to date. If you did not get a message (email or PM), and send in an entry please let me know.
Please note, for physical entries they can take some time to get to us so it may not be lost, it may just still be in transit. 🙂
Yeah, I know a lot of people really love the fjord one – he’s too pretty as he is to add anything else to him! 🙂
I just purchased this gargoyle and he’s discolored in places. I’m guessing he sat in the sun and got sunburnt? What do ya’ll think?
I’m a bit disappointed he looks that way (plus he smells of cigarette smoke something terrible). The seller didn’t mention the discoloration, but they also didn’t say it was mint either so I guess I’ll have to deal with it. I couldn’t see this issue in the pictures from the seller. On the plus side, he’s not chipped or cracked anywhere and the felt pad in in decent condition. I might consider fixing him myself (or commission someone to fix him because I have no idea how to do it.) I’m not sure about the paint if I was to fix him myself. Can somebody recommend specific paint brands and colors?
It actually looks like he is discolored from tobacco smoke build up (which makes sense if he also smells of smoke).
Gently wiping him with a very very slightly damp cloth might help some.
Aren’t Schubunkin usually a pond fish? I used to have them in our pond – they were more on par with Koi size-wise than they were with goldfish.
I would definitely not put anything more in the tank! Four decent sized fish in 20 gallons is quite a bit already.
