Thanks for the tip! I’m not necessarily looking into breeding the ones that I have unless they’re pure-bred compatible, at least for eggs to keep myself. I would be willing to cross-breed for other folks’ benefit. I’m only looking at the parentage at this point. So I guess the Trio would have to be CB too, huh. Well, that’s ok. Part of the fun, right? 😉

One of my Yoshi’s will be hatching today, the other tomorrow. If I can’t get them traded for metallics or Trio’s, I’ll just add them to my scroll (Gotta catch’em all, or something). I wonder what the new egg adults will look like?

Well, this is a seriously off-chance, but I thought I’d post anyway.

I am looking to have an almost 100% CB/purebred scroll (Dorkfaces are exceptions) and will need CB silvers and golds.

All I have to offer right now are a couple Yoshi eggs – one triceratops style, one brontosaurus style. both have two or three days left to hatch; I can fog them to prevent hatching if necessary. Looking to trade for: CB or purebred Gold, Silver, any of the Legendary Trio.
        Thanks!

Glad it worked out! How do you feel about the final result? 🙂

Proud of myself! 😀 The results blended so well that I’m certain I missed a few touched-up spots on the final varnish coat, because I couldn’t find them! I was going to definitely sell the ones that needed the most work, but after fixing their flea bites and giving them a good stiff-bristle-brush cleaning (a couple had literally years of dust in the cracks, it was caked in and looked white, uck) – they look so good I don’t think I can give them up now 😳

I do have another question to pop out there for folks now: My male emperor had a chipped tail scale, and when I glued the chip back in, it was ever-so-slightly off the mark, so there’s a hairline crack that shows (and you can feel when you rub it) – plus a pinhead-size piece came off entirely and disappeared, so the tip of the scale is missing entirely. AND, my sitting spectral had one of his head scales get chipped – the very edge of it is missing. These are flaws so tiny you can’t hardly notice them unless you know they’re there and look for ’em, and the sitting spectral’s chip is on the non-displayed side.

Do I get apoxie sculpt and try to fix them (having no experience whatsoever with doing so, and running the risk of making it worse), or do I back away slowly, try to ignore my ocd-esque impulse to make them perfect, and leave well enough alone?

OK, so I’ve done a bunch of touching up my old Peacock sculpts, and wanted to post what I’ve discovered, for future generations, or something 😀 :

First off, I only used “Golden” brand acrylics because I hear that’s what they use in the factory, and I used the “Fluid” kind (as opposed to Heavy Body or OPEN). And a DecoArt gold paint pen, with a *fine* tip (ultra-fine has a metal piece in the nib that can scratch sculpts, and broader tips can’t do the fine point work). These are the colors I got:
            Black
            Interference Blue
            Interference Violet
            Interference Green
Copper (Fine): The copper comes in 2 different colors – Copper, and Light Copper. I got the “Light (Fine)” shade. But I think the darker shade might work better, because I had to mix a bit of brown in to match the color on the Emperor’s horns and talons, and do a LOT of experimenting to get the weird champagne violet color along the spine.

First, put a very thin layer of black on any white rubs, flea bites, chips as a base coat. Let the black base coat dry completely – overnight is best.

If the spot you’re fixing is blue, green, purple, or a blend, use the appropriate interference color/s tinged with a bit of black. All by themselves, the interference colors are too bright/light (at least for my older sculpts), but mixing in a bit of black makes a great match. Have a damp cloth on hand: that way, if the color is a bit off, you can easily wipe it away before it dries, mix in a bit more color or black, and reapply.

To get the funny champagne violet color, I mixed Interference Violet, Copper, and Black together. I had to keep playing with different combos of the three colors to get it juuuuuuuust right, but persistence pays off. Getting some retarder helps – it slows the drying time of the paint so you have longer to match the color. Again, have a damp cloth handy so you can easily wipe off mistakes until you’ve gotten a satisfactory color match.

I did the black base coat first, let dry overnight, did the touch up colors second, let dry overnight again. Then I top-coated with Liquitex Varnish. Some spots looked better with a gloss finish, and some blended better with satin, so I got one smaller bottle of each.

Hope this helps, for anybody out there looking to DIY. Good luck!

I tried Oblivion. Gave it a real chance, as it was a b-day gift from hubby. I’m just no good at aim-and-fire-in-real-time, couldn’t get a grip on it regardless of character POV. I much prefer the Dragon Age style, where time freezes long enough for you to aim your mage attack, or you can just mash buttons and know most of your hits will land!

Me 3 on eagerly awaiting the March release of Dragon Age 3!
I played through as an elvish mage, (let Alistair die killing the demon – and count me in, they did a great job making a male NPC the ladies can get in on!), then as a human rogue noble who lets Morrigan do her thing, marries Alistair, and becomes Queen, then again as an elvish mage but this time I killed the demon so Alistair could live. My fourth run through I am playing a male human mage, taking all the evil nasty dialogue, having a love affair with Morrigan, and doing all the “wrong” things (like having the werewolves kill the elves 👿 ). Just for fun! It’s interesting though – even when I know it’s just a game, I still feel guilty and kinda dirty for the things my 4th character says/does in the game!

I didn’t bother buying the expansions that have you play pranks and give gifts to your NPCs, or play as Leliana or the darkspawn, but I did do the Golem adventure, the Warden’s Keep, Return to Ostagar, and the Morrigan expansion. They’re fun 😀

Sooo glad somebody thought to bring this up. Go Wardens!!

There are some Keepers in right now. RUN!!!!!!! 😈

The duck looks great from what I can see in the pics. I, too, just bought an airbrush – suddenly stumbled upon about a half dozen projects that would all work/look better with some airbrushing, so I figured, why not. Mine is still huddling in its brand new box, making tiny slathering sounds and waiting for me to gum up the nerve to try it.

I read some interesting tips on how to practice airbrushing as a new user, including frisket work. I’d be happy to pm you a brief summary if you’d like. But I must say, as a tentative new user, it’s very encouraging to see someone else’s first attempts come out looking so good. So thank you for posting the pics and sharing your story!! Happy brushing :hi:

If we miss this round, any idea when there’d be more? Don’t have the moolah to get *both* the Trio and a PYO Keeper right now, so I have to pick one. Unless there’s still a trio lamp in stock on Friday (payday) **prays to the dragon gods**

I’m familiar. Not sure if it counts as obsessed, but I’ve played through the original game (Dragon Age: Origins) three different times as three different characters, and am on my fourth run currently; have also played through Dragon Age: Awakenings all the way through with one character and am almost done with my second run through; and have a few of the downloadable expansions, have played through them as well.
Yeah, ok, I was obsessed. 😳 At least now I sprinkle my playing liberally with breaks, usually watching sci-fi/fantasy stuff off Netflix, hunting rare eggs on Dragon Cave, and seeing what’s in stock here 8)

                      ps- GREAT FREAKIN’ GAME!!!

Is it time to remind Melody to check on the option of buying more than one pair?

Is it wrong that I’m using this as an excuse to throw in another request for Windstone to provide the Teal Metallic eyes as a PYO eye color option? 😳

Metric is more accurate but still strange to me as well. “Man, the summers get like 98 degrees here!” “……” “Like, 36 degrees Celcius.” “OOHHH…WOW thats hot!”

Why didn’t the whole world decide to just use the metric system? America probably just wanted to be different 😛 lol

Same reason we drive on the “wrong” side of the road here… 😈

And can I just say, after reading Melody’s post on grabbing an eye out of a tub full of’em, that given how the eyes “follow” you, I think I’d get totally creeped out looking at a tub full of eyes that watch me, wherever I go…. 😮
